I’m sorry but I think that is ridiculous. Isn’t the mock suppossed to be trying to predict what will happen on draft night? It feels right now more of what Aran would do as the GM of each team.

I mean Oubre at 25? What are the chances that occurs?

The extended mock say there are reports that he’s not doing great in workouts.  Even still I don’t see him falling to 25.  I would be shocked on draft night if that happened.

At any rate, we’re still almost a week away, so I wouldn’t get too worked up over this sort of thing. Minor "fluctuations" are perfectly natural. (Keeps the conversation flowing, if nothing else.) Not like it’s "set in stone" or anything.

I wish his mock position would fluctuate. Aran’s had it set in stone for months…

Teams have been stating he is a year or two away from being productive. Sometimes he shows flashes of what he can do and sometimes he shows inconsistency and low IQ. But with his potential I would imagine he is a top 20 pick.

I remember last year, at one point (maybe 1 or 2 weeks before the draft), Kyle Anderson was a Top 5 pick in this site and he ended up going 30th to San Antonio.

Kelly Oubre is an athlete, has a nice stroke, and has the physical tools of an NBA player.  He will probably get picked higher than 25, or at least he should.  The draft is about potential, and projecting a player into the future.  You are not going to draft Kelly Oubre and expect him to contribute very much for the first couple of years.  However, as a GM you should have a high conviction that he will be at least a starter on your team in year 3 or 4.

I watched a fair number of Kansas games and was disappointed by the play of Oubre.  He looked lost for most of the season on defense, and on set plays.  He did well in transition and against athletically inferior college players.  He did not seem to have any one skill that stood out.  That said I did not watch every game, and so he may have demonstrated marked improvement throughout the year.

When I see a player like Oubre who was rated a high lottery pick by most mock drafts throughout the year, fall to late first round after the season ends, I start to think that the player has hurt himself through workouts or through interviews.  Perhaps he is not living up to the hype during his workouts?  Perhaps he is harming his stock through interviews.  It’s as if now that teams have a chance to really dissect his game and personality, they are not seeing something that they like.

I’ve been saying this forever that he’s extremely overrated.. He has limited basketball IQ and a poor motor.. Limited passer, he’s a draft and pray that he pans out prospect

Poor ball handling limits his upside and has an inflated opinion of himself reminiscent of Scotty Hopson.  Attitude really rubs NBA people the wrong way.  Coaches are leery of him.

If Portland passed on Oubre I’d be outraged! We need a 3 that can also cover the 2. Looney would also be a steal at 23

I’d like to see him go to the Jazz at #12… if Myles Turner is off the board.

I don’t see it happening they had James Young in the twenties last year and he went much higher. Players do fall every year but usually not players like Oubre, Young or Harkless they almost always go in the early teens. High reward players don’t fall unless injury concerns happen. Now Lyles, Booker or Dekker could fall much like Hood did last year.

What’s so great about him?? He didn’t dominate in collage, he has "Poential" but most of these players have that right? He’s a year or two away from being a contributor. Alot of these GM’s in the top of the draft could get fired if they don’t put out a product that can pefrom now and the next person will get credit for thier picks.

Sorry Kelly Oubre’s a bust! At best he’s a role player off the bench. I believe he’s only considered a lottery pick because of his length and people see potential in him.
