Bored and came up with this trade proposal….

    LAL gets- DeMarcus Cousins

SAC gets- Ty Lawson, Faried, 2nd pick

Den gets- Clarkson, J. Randle, 6th pick

Lakers don’t want to rebuild so they get DeMarcus (not sure if he would work well with Kobe but you get a for sure star player instead of a "potential" star player in Towns, Okafor, Russell). With this trade lakers can bring MAYBE bring in another "star" player, such as Rondo? They’ll have to find a way to get rid of Jordan Hill’s 9 million dollar contract if he opts in for his last year of his contract to add Rondo. Lineup: Rondo, Kobe, Young, PF/C? Cousins.

SAC- George Karl gets rid of Cousins who doesn’t fit him or he doesn’t have to deal with the baby. He gets his two former players in Lawson and Faried plus the 2nd overall pick. Since Demarcus is the star player in this deal they do get more and the 2nd pick makes sense here. With the 2nd pick, they get one of the bigs as Center. Lineup: Lawson, McLemore, Gay, Faried, Towns/Okafor.

DEN- They’re rebuilding! They already hold the 6th pick and now they get the 7th pick. With young players like Gary Harris and Neurfic or however you spell his name, they can add more young talent. In this deal they also get Clarkson, solid rookie year and also Randle, a good young prospect. With the 6th and 7th pick they can add a wing like Winslow or S. Johnson and go for one of the foreign guys or both foreign guys. Lineup: Clarkson, Harris?, Winslow/Johnson, Randle, Nerific.

Overall, I think this trade is win-win-win for all 3 teams. Denver gets to rebuild and add some very young and talent players. Lakers get their big star player and George Karl gets his players back plus the 2nd pick.

    What do you guys think?

Cavs gave up two first OVERALL picks in Wiggins and Bennett and an additional first rounder for K Love. If you compare these two trades, Cavs gave more in value than what Lakers are giving up. They might have to throw in the 27th pick. Trading for star players isn’t cheap.

bennett was a scrub throw in, dont care where he was picked. Clarkson is much better then him. Also the cavs would probably like to have that deal back.

I think the Love trade was the exception, rather than the rule.  Star players don’t usually get that big of a haul.

Plus, the Lakers aren’t going to win anything until Kobe retires.  They might as well keep building and keep their young players – Clarkson, Randle and the 2nd pick could be really valuable and the star of something nice, especially with how much cap space they will have.  Hopefully their management is smart enough to not do something stupid just to satisfy Kobe’s vanity.

No logic here. It was 2014 and Bennett was the first pick of the 2013 draft. One season is far too soon to say someone picked first overall is a scrub. He’s less valuable now after his second poor season, but he added value to the deal without question. We all have 20/20 hindsight…

I think Sac wins this trade, Two proven borderline all stars in Lawson and Faried as well as #2 pick to add Okafor or even Russell… And that’s not a knock on Cousins

Far out.  It takes a quick google search.

Anyways, I think that’s a solid trade.  Denver blows it up, but can rebuild with a promising core of young talent.

Lakers should be laughing that they give up that little for a borderline top 10 NBA talent.

Kings get a nice package in return for their disgruntled star player.

For LA to do this they need to either keep Clarkson or get Faried, Lakers otherwise have nothing to put next to Cousins apart from an aging Kobe and who else Ryan Kelly?

That’s the price you have to pay for a star player. If you want a proven star player, you’ll have to give up a lot and go out and try to sign FA’s to boost the team. FYI, clarkson could stay, no way LA gets both cousins and faried in this deal unless lakers offer multiple future 1st round picks

A young star player in Cousins, plus the allure of playing in LA should be enough to pull another stud after Kobe retires.

Denver would need to throw in some veterans that would make room for the rebuild and add more value to the Lakers return. Foye and or Chandler would have to be added. The Nuggets would have two top 10 picks that could take their minutes and a lot of young players like Barton, Harris, Green, and Nurkic that would need more minutes.

I don’t understand why the Nuggets would need to be involved. If the kings are giving up Cousins they would probably rather have young players and picks, than older players.

Kings are in a semi win now situation with their new owner.

When in reality they are no where near the playoffs with or without this trade.

IMO they need a miracle or Lebron lol

I would rather have Towns/Okafor, Clarkson and Randle.  I don’t care how dominant Cousins is.  Give me the cost controlled contracts of 3 young players over having Cousins on the Lakers and nobody else.  That’s the first thing.

Secondly why do people assume Faried has like, actual value?  He just signed a contract that he will never come close to living up to.  People, or most people are not blind to this fact.  He had a big summer and the Nugs signed him to a ridiculous contract.  He has shown virtually no statistical improvement since he entered the league.  All of his seasons are almost identical.

Thirdly, why the hell would the Kings do this?  I believe if they give up the 6th pick and maybe one other asset tops Lawson can be had.  And they add him to Cousins.

You might be able to convince me that all of this happens because of the George Karl connection.  But from strictly a talent standpoint the Nugs are the only ones who win here because they get young talent and an additional pick.

I agree the Kings are not giving up a pick and trading Cousins. Lakers and Knicks are both in bad situations as far as picks owed and Kobe and Carmelo. What amazes is that Kobe and Melo want to stay and are holding their teams hostage by forcing them to win now. I know the fans of these teams probably love their players but from an outside perspective it would drive me crazy if it were my team.

It’s my team and it does drive me crazy.  I am ready for Kobe retire after this year.  Extremely grateful for what he has done, but it’s time for the next era of Lakers basketball to begin and I am a firm believer that him jacking up 20+ shots a game will be a detriment to their growth.

No way the Lakers do that. I could see the Lakers giving up the 2nd Pick and Clarkson for Cousins, but giving up ALL 3 of the Laker’s young prospects (Clarkson, Randle, Okafor/Russell) would be a big mistake long term.

In the past if a team was to trade for a star player they would have to pay a hefty price. The team will have to offer a young player who they think will be an all-star one day, so Randle. The team will also have to add one or two more players and additional first rounders. Look at the KG trade, Boston gave up 2 future first round picks, and like 5 players for him with Big Al as the "prize" prospect. Sure, Demarcus is no KG but again the price is high to land a proven All Star player. Clarkson and the 2nd pick would not be enough for Cousins, unless they add more picks or players but Lakers dont have any players that will attract the Kings, unless Denver was to give up more…

In your other post for the t-wolves(my home team), you said Demarcus Cousins for the 1st overall pick, Rubio and Dieng? But you think lakers will being giving too much if they gave their 2nd pick, clarkson, and randle? I dont get it……Rubio is more proven than Clarkson, Dieng as of right now is more proven, and the 1st pick is higher than the 2nd pick…..I’m confused. I don’t get your logic..

     Great trade idea.

Often trade ideas with extra teams are unbalanced, but this seems to fit all very well.

Lakers get Cousins for Okafor and Randle and Clarkson, and they would have room for a max signing or a few stars.  J Hill is a team option, from what I read.  If they want to do something now, while Kobe is still there, then Cousins with possible signing Love, N Young, Bryant and probably cheaper than expected Rondo might be a possible starting five.

Denver, they don’t need those older players on big money as they look to rebuild so three young and cheap players works for them.

Sacramento, if they can’t build a playoff team around Cousins they may as well try something different.  The Denver veterans plus Okafor is a big change, but it might mean the coach is happier and will have better depth.  Okafor, assuming he is pick 2, can already do a lot of things Cousins can in the paint.  Kings have had point guard issues for a while, the trade is a big one and it might be what they need.
