 detroit will take Bobby Portis( in this scenario where trades are not a factor) imo Hezonja is gone way before this pick in reality…and yes i understand hes still on our bd in this game.

 I think Myles Turner slips in here. Detroit is gonna need to replace Monroe and Turner has the potential to be a stretch type player and him and Drummond would be hard to score on in the paint. I think Hezonja is gonna be the one that slips this year. Charlotte will take him by 9 no later

You say he’s gonna be gone way before the #7, how high do you think this guy is being picked?  I haven’t seen a credible mock where he’s in the top 4.  I also haven’t seen a mock where Bobby Portis is chosen at the #7.

I think they look at wings with this pick. Stanley Johnson can start at the 3 as well as play the 2 & the 4 at times. In this modern league, versatility is a big plus, and Johnson projects to provide it on both ends. My guess is Stanley Johnson

Although Turner or Kaminsky, they would fit with the Pistons too.  But that is also assuming Monroe is out, so Mario makes lots of sense as they need a small forward.

 I think Detroit will try to draft a pf to replace Monroe here. Lyles and turner are definitely going to get consideration.

However, Detroit also needs an athletic wing that can shoot from outside and I think he is the best prospect left on the board so I don’t think they would pass on hezonja.

 Definitely Hezonja. Floor spacers will be at a premium with Drummond inside,  Jackson still inconsistent from the outside, and even with Munroe’s uncertainity, Hezonja has the most upside out of anyone left. Myles turner or Stanley Johnson would be my second and third picks.

I’m not typically into projections, since stats rely so much on other "outside" factors. However, having said that, I truly believe a peak Mario could score 24-26ppg in the right situation (which Detroit would be, imo). Even a rookie Mario probably gives you at least 17ppg or so.

trey lyles is my darkhorse pick honestly just because i think SVG might look at him as a possible Hedo point forward type. but with whose left on the board, Super Mario has got to be on top of detroits big board at this point in the draft

 Ive been following the draft workouts and just Stan Van Gundys comments regarding the draft and 2 things are clear. He’s looking for a potential starter at the 3 or 4 and he wants shooting. Hezonja, although I still believe he should have gone higher than his does. I sincerely believe if the Pistons pick up this guy they pick one of the steals of this draft.

He has a big man that should develop a game that demands doubles a pass first PG with great penetrating skills, a shoot first PG that has great penetrating skills, and a high volume shooter with a good developing game in KCP.

With that being said wit the 8th pick the pistons would pick Trey Lyles  and trade for Sharp shooting Hezonja or defensive sf stanely johnson.  They pistons would like to get someone who could replace Monroe and do what he could do or more. Trey Lyles fit that bill he can play downlow, or shoot outside. Plus he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder because he playeed in the shadow of Jahlil and Culey-Stein. He could be an steal. Also Johnson can come to the pistons via trade. He brings defensive intensitiy on the wings, but his shooting is questionable. Mario may be the safe pick in terms of that detroit needs instead of Johnson. How he adjust to the NBA (and put on weight) is a going determine if he will succeed or be another Nikolas Tskitisvilli. 

Detroit could try to trade up with the knicks and draft Justise Winslow. But that would require parting ways with either Monroe, Jennings, or Jackson in a deal plus the pick, I would assume.
