     kobe tore his rotator cuff while dunking vs the pelicans the other night and there is talk that he might be shut down for season after lakers doctors look at him. Theres actually only 2 things im enjoying about this laker season and one of those is of course getting to see kobe out there still playing at a relatively high level although clearly not where he used to be(the other being the much improved defense with byron scott starting wes johnson, ed davis and ronnie price making a change from the mike DAntonni days of giving up 120 on the regular). Kobe has one year left in him and i would much rather see him get as much rest as possible to have one final farewell tour next year. Lakers are better off keeping their top 5 protected pick this year anyways. 

    Also want to add while kobe doesnt belong in all-star game I do hope he gets a final all-star game in him next year either by the fans or the coaches. It would obviously be a kind gesture for one of the all time greats and give him one last chance to show he can still do some things vs these young cats in a fun exhibition.

    The Lakers were dumb for not trading Kobe while they could.  They could’ve gotten some future assets.

     He is a student of the game and I think he likes being tied to only one perrenial franchise.

    However, I had a small small sliver of hope that the Bulls could trade for him during an "inbetween Shaq and Pau" year.

    There were rumors and I believed them at least enough to hope, but obviously it fell through.

    Kobe clears $25 million next season and has talked about retiring in 2016, any team taking him would need to have a lot of cap space of be willing to take on a lot of salary for one possible year.

    We don’t know how Kobe would react if he was shifted to a lottery team and a young developing team would either want to tank or develop a team going forward and having Kobe taking loads of shots and putting up good stats would not do either of these. Kobe might still have a no trade clause for all we know?

    I’ll put a fun scenario out there, Knicks are run by Phil Jackson – 5 titles with Kobe in LA, Head Coach is Kobe’s former backcourt buddy Derek Fisher. Knicks have Melo who doesn’t seem a good fit in the triangle, Kobe played quite well in that I seem to recall. Melo and Kobe’s salaries match nicely. Melo becomes franchise player at the Lakers, Kobe goes to another big team with former friends to play for a year or so, Knicks get cap space much sooner without Melo’s mega deal still on the books.

    I doubt it would happen but could it just be logical?
