joe2324ParticipantEVER let a player, regardless of who they are, have too much control and make personnel decisions. We all know Lebron was the main force behind signin Kevin Love. NBA fans all knew what they were getting in Kevin Love, a 20/10 player who plays no defense. Now, the cavs are screwed. Forget about Bennett, they gave up Wiggins who has potential to be a star as he matures through the years and his celing is way higher than Love both from the defensive side and offensive side.
Love will probably leave and Lebron will probably show his true colors and leave as well. Where does that leave the Cavs? Back in the basement with what, Kyrie Irving? Signing Lebron = Good for the immediate present, but bad for the future of the organization as he’ll probably leave the Cavs when they need him the most. Further, lets not forget the amount of minutes Lebron has played so far in his career. His body is taking a beating and he is not the same Lebron from 2008.
Without signing Lebron and Love, the cavs would have been a lottery team without a doubt but who knows they may have been better off this way.

prophetmeirParticipantLol wow how did you get lebron is leaving? His whole image and marketing would crumble where he going to go? Clippers? I agree you never give your team to a player. who also makes agent choices. Thats why tristain would have a nice salary waiting on him. I remember jalen rose saying something about a kyrie ,eric bledsoe trade, Bledsoe has the same agent as thompson and james. Dont hink it would happen but intresting neverless

ChewyParticipantbut I believe Lebron when he says he won’t leave until he brings a ship to CLE/ or retires, whichever comes first.
I think he severly underestimated the blow back that would occur when he left the first time. He also tried to play the villian role his first year in MIA and couldn’t do it, it’s just not his personality type.
This time around I really can’t see him leaving. He WANTS to be liked. He WANTS to be the hometown hero. Leaving CLE again would kill any chance of those two things happening on a national scale.

GronounoursParticipantWhen/if the Cavs start clicking, where will you be?
Thanks for letting us know that LeBron is about to leave.

joe2324ParticipantIt is hard to imagine him leaving again and hurting his image, but I honestly don’t think he really cares. Deep down, I think he felt this team with Kevin Love would compete for a title this year; although, he stated it was a work in progress. I don’t think he imagined this experiment going this badly already half way through the season.
I don’t know what Lebron thought he was getting in Love. Your not getting Larry Bird. Your getting a 20/10 guy who plays zero defense and has no heart. Your getting a player whos feelings got hurt because the Wolves owner called him out.
Oh, lets not forget that Lebron could care less about the cavs, fans, dan gilbert. he is the type of person who is looking out for himself. If something does not feel right, he is going to bail. His track record has shown he is not the type that likes to grind it out during tough times.
Who knows where he’ll end up. Hopefully, a team won’t be foolish enough to give him and his entourage the keys to the house like the Cavs.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantAs bad as things look right now, I do not think LeBron leaves. In as much as I believe that the reasons he outlined in SI played a role in his decision to go back to Cleveland, I also think the additional power he and his guys can have in Cleveland played a role. This season might look like a disaster, but that does not make it a five-year disaster. Surrounding himself with a roster full of guys who had never been to the playoffs is probably a mistake he wishes he had back. It has place the team on a learning curve that a 30-year old LeBron probably should not be taking. I don’t think they really had any say in adding a coach who had never coached in this country before. Whether the season to this point is David Blatt’s fault or not, the inexperience certainly is not helping matters. Still, the team has been 18-11 when LeBron plays. They might not have been title favorites with him, and the defensive failings are still there even if only hidden with him in the lineup, but the bottom did not fall out until the best player in the league was sidelined. If I was a Cavs fan, I would still be more confident in having LeBron and reworking the players around him next summer than I would be if they had simply stayed the course with Kyrie Irving, Andrew Wiggins, Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett, and Dion Waiters. I think a title team is much more easily built with the former than the latter, even if it comes with the steep price of learning that the Galacticos approach of building a team in the NBA does not necessarily work if the pieces do not fit and defense is not valued.

ThepessimestParticipantI won’t get on Love too much today….but it is a strong possibility that he leaves. I also think it is time for Kyrie Irving to be questioned in terms of his willingness to do things that make teams "win". His handle is nasty, he is one of the best shot creators (for self) in the league, and he dazzles nightly…but I do not see him making winning plays.
I didn’t realize this until Bill SImmons or someone pointed it out on twitter last night; but he is in his 4th year and he is on coach number 3.
I’m not suggesting that it’s all his fault, or Love’s fault, or Lebron’s fault…but one thing I know about coaching and locker rooms….. Attitudes (whether good or bad) are contagious. And the issue in Cleveland was when things didn’t go players way that negative attitudes spread.
And that’s why last night as I watched them play Sacramento I saw individuals playing a team sport.
I still believe that they will get it together soon enough to make a run but man it’s going to take sacrifice on ALL player’s parts for this to happen. Love can’t complain about touches or where he touches it. Kyrie can be in a battle to dominate possessions. And Lebron has to lead instead of point out what guys aren’t doing every time they lose (an no leadership is not about pointing out player’s faults or what you know vs what they don’t know).
Should be interesting.

Memphis MadnessParticipantClocks ticking.
I mean Jordan played 9 years (missed nearly all his second season) skipped nearly two years and then came back a bit. Following that he put up that second three peat with the Bulls. So, basically, the Bulls got 12 years out of Jordan.
LeBron has played 12 FULL SEASONS already.
The clock is ticking.
If he wants to win another title I actually think he needs to go to a CONTENDER if he doesn’t stay with the Cavs.
Apparently, LeBron needs a superstar guard, a superstar power forward/center, a solid 2nd big man, a rangy, 3 and D guy (like Battier), along with extra shooters, and glue guys.
Heck! I can win with THAT!
I could be the NBA’s worst 12th man or 13th man on a 9 1/2 man rotation.
Ironic: Kyrie Irving, Wiggins, Lebron, Tristan Thompson, and Mozgov would be a GREAT starting five right now with Dellavadova and Anthony Bennett as decent pieces off the bench. MM, Shawn Marion, and James Jones would move further down the rotation.

Andrew1984ParticipantBy Jordan’s 30th birthday, he had two finals appearances, two titles, and three MVPs.
At LeBron’s 30th birthday, he has five finals appearances, two titles, and four MVPs.
But yes, he’s also played three more seasons, so he has logged quite a bit more minutes.

ExumInfernoParticipantThe Cavs have never won, and without LeBron they were just making up the numbers. Now with LeBron they are everywhere in the media, they are relevant again in the NBA, and because he arrived it got them K Love and other players, Marion and Miller and while they are old they do know how to win.
The Cavs really had to do whatever LeBron wanted for him to return, and still have to do it until he signs a new long-term deal.
There are worse examples, like Toronto when they went crazy to try to keep Vince Carter happy by giving enormous contracts to his friends on the team.

MopgrassParticipantLeBron made three mistakes: 1) Tried to make everyone like him by returning to Cleveland while assuming a championship would follow because he showed up 2) Lost a bunch of weight so his post play, one of the most dominant things he does, is now less reliable and 3) Undermined his coach so early in the season that the coach never had a chance to get everyone to follow him.
That said, Blatt can’t manage the egos and his comments about Love not being a max player show that he’s deaf to how our prima donnas are. I think Love is a better player than he’s been playing. Either he can’t handle being the number 3 star or he can’t handle the pressure of actually being expected to win.
Getting a rim protector in Mozgov was good and they got rid of the #4 option, who thought he was 1 (Waiters). Good luck OKC. Problem is, they replaced him with the older version: J.R. Smith. At least Smith bomb threes.
I think Smith could end up one of their bigger problems.
They’ll start to win more, but this won’t be there year.

IndianaBasketballParticipantThe Cavs had 19 turnovers. Kyrie and LeBron combined for 13 of them. Offensively, they play too much isolation ball and don’t move it quick enough. This offense looks like the old Cavs offense with Mike Brown coaching. LeBron dribbles for most of the shot clock, gets a high screen and roll, and then either drives for the layup or kicks it out to a shooter who has like a second or two to make a decision with it. Or LeBron gets the ball, everyone clears out and then he jabs for several seconds before taking a difficult stepback three-pointer. That type of play turns everyone into role players. Both LeBron and Kyrie play too much isolation ball.
Defensively, LeBron isn’t always locked in, but their team defense sucks. Of course Love got roasted by Morris (which is why he wasn’t on the floor to close the game), but the team defense was garbage as usual. Yes, the Suns are a tough offensive matchup when they go small and spread teams out, but I still saw the same mistakes at the defensive end for the Cavs.

TallmanNYCParticipantI don’t think Lebron will leave Cleveland. The marketing issue would be a nightmare for his brand. Also with the new salary cap they can sign another max contract player to play along with him and Kyrie if Love leaves.
Love might leave if he thinks he isn’t being used the right way. His touches are way down on this team and while he is still a great rebounder, that is his only defensive skill. He might listen to another team that says they are going to return him to being the number one option. I know that if he sets himself up to be a free agent in 2016 season when every team has salary cap space that some team will offer him a max contract. And he will probably be underpaid at the max even when you take into account his defense.
