OhCanada-ParticipantI found this article hilarious. After playing the game for 20 years Jennings has finally decided its time to learn how to play the sport so the article says and portraits. Maybe SVG and Jennings can be this years Dwayne Casey and Lowry. Instead of trading him the player finally gets it and starts leading his team.
Read this on hoopshype but find the full article its funny how hard they are trying to make a positive spin on Jennings after flat out dumping Smith.
"Stan wants me to talk more," Jennings said. "The fact that this is my fifth or sixth year, it’s time for me to start talking and be that leader. Also, I’m still trying to learn the game of basketball. "He’s really teaching and he joked one day, said ‘I think after basketball you might be a coach.’ I said, ‘No, I’m cool in that.’ I’m just trying to learn and learn from him and what he thinks in terms of basketball."

Bossy13ParticipantDoes any one else find it odd/concerning that Jennings doesn’t know how long he’s been in the league?( " this is my fifth or sixth year")

Sharp ShooterParticipantIt’s possible he still learning the PG …look at Chauncey, he didn’t REALLYget it together until he arrived in Detroit (he was trusted through Carlisle) but learned under Larry Brown.
I really do hope Brandon puts it all together…but before he can do anything he needs to humble himself, if he cannot do that then he cannot take that next step.

CameronCrazy11ParticipantAny chance he can get back to that prime Kenny Anderson level that many thought he could reach?

benny15Participantthink piston fans and his fantasy owners are hoping he would turn the corner. this team right now might be the most atuned to his game. by waiving smith, they have subtracted one more player who wants the ball to create and replaced him with better floor spacers. jennings right now own the entire perimeter ball handling responsibilities and i feel he wants it that way.
dont think monroe would have a lot of mid range face ups, and when meeks, kcp, singler or jerebko get the ball, its to to either shoot it, swing the rock or at most, a one dribble pull-up j. the dribble penetration responsibilities are almost all jennings’ whenever he’s on the floor. if he cant make this work, in the same system that turned Jameer Nelson into an all-star, then i feel his potential window gets closed and he’ll be accepted for what he is without any recognition of potential he can be.

jaycee24ParticipantHes not strong enough mentally or physically to be put in the same breath as Chauncey. I actually thought Brandon Knight was always a quicker less strong version of Chauncey

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantThe NBA and NFL may be a little different and less forgiving than most other areas in life BUT the kid is still young(25 or younger is still young)…
PG and C are the two easiest positions to be placed at when you grow up playing basketball, if you’re tall you will be played at C, and if you are shorter you will be played at Pg, it doesn’t really click for all players that there are certain things that are expected of a guy with PG or C in front of their name…
A point guard has to dictate the tempo of a game, sometimes he has to speed it up/slow it down, he has to get all his teammates involved and in their spots for the Offense and Defense to run efficiently, when things are going south he had to adjust the game plan and figure out what the other team’s PG is trying to do their Defense…
These are only 2 or 3 of the facets to playing Pg, that can be easy to critique from the comfort of my couch…Brandon was never a real Pg growing up, he played a brand of basketball built on scoring baskets and looking pretty doing, that’s how 6 feet guards have to operate to get noticed/recruited/drafted, only when he got into the league would he be tested and asked to improve the flaws in his game and learn an entirely new way of playing the game, I give him credit for not completely buying into his own Rookie year hype and bad habits, he had a chip on shoulder and maybe he’ll be another example of a young player written off too soon…
You really do see cases like Brandon Jennings all the time, more time than than not the player eventually gets it, barring some JR Smith case every now and than…

tuck243ParticipantA week and a half ago people were claiming he was the worst PG in the league…
http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/brandon-jennings-worst-starting-pg-league
I don’t know what to make of him just yet… I think since they got rid of Josh Smith and they’re winning I’ll hold off on whatever thoughts I have on anybody in Detroit right now.
