If we go from 1980, who would you say is the worst player to win the Rookie of the Year award ?

    Mike Miller ? Okafor ? MCW ?

Mike Miller hasn’t scored too much in his career but is a career 41% shooter from downtown. (his 3pt % is actually better than MCW 2pt fg%)

Okafor didn’t score alot but was a good rebounder and shot blocker.

MCW shot 40% fg last season.  This season he is shooting 38% and is leading the league in turnovers with a staggering 4.8 T/O per game.

Mike Miller in my head, but Okafor might have him beat. Good call on both. I have no one to add that comes close to those 2.

Damon Stoudamire was pretty average after his first 3 years in the league

I dunno about worst rookie of the year…..but the worst rookie THIS year is Doug McDermott.

Disappointing considering he was drafted a senior. I doubt he’ll be in the league within a few years.

Are we talking about what ROY went on to be the worst player in his career?  Or what was the most pathetic rookie performance that won ROY?

If it’s the first one, I would say it’s probably Emeka Okafor or going further back, Ernie DiGregorio and Phil Ford.

I think it’s way too early to say it’s MCW.  Sure he’s struggled for a lot of this season, but he also came back from his injury earlier than expected.  In the 8 games he’s played in December so far, he’s averaging 16.4 points, 10 assists, and 8.4 rebounds on almost 45% shooting.  He’s still turning it over a crazy amount, but he’s continued to be the only player worth a damn on that roster for the second straight year.

Tyreke Evans has really been all downhill after a really impressive rookie season
