Dazzling Dunks and Basketball BloopersParticipantMichigan lost 72-70 to NJIT at home this afternoon in what has to be considered one of the biggest upsets in recent memory. NJIT is an independent school with a combined record of 78-170 since joining D-1 in 2006. From 2007 through 2009 the program lost 51 games in a row during one stretch and they had never played a top 25 program before today.
Caris Levert was sensational with 32 points and was really the main reason Michigan was able to stay in the game at all. Zach Irvin, Michigan’s leading scorer so far this season was essentially a non-factor, shooting 2-11 from the field and 1-8 from three. NJIT shot 59% from the field in the game and 11-17 from 3.
Michigan had a chance but Levert turned the ball over down by one with 44 seconds left attempting to throw a cross court pass. Michigan then forced a missed shot by NJIT but was unable to secure the defensive rebound and forced to foul with 4 seconds left.

CU.LIONSParticipantYou guys can see my screen name. CU.LIONS means Columbia University Lions. Coach Engles of NJIT coached at CU for about 6 years and is a friend of mine. He took over a very tough job at NJIT and has persevered. I am happy for his success and wish him more of the same. He is one of the nicest people you can ever meet. And as proven by tonight also a very good coach.
Congrats
