    Just reading 76ers/Twolves thread and considering the 13/14 NBA draft. It was supposed to be the best in a decade. With the current splash of players finding time on the court its making for poorer competition with several teams who needed difference makers. Veterans should have been sought even more and draft picks need to develop. Developing starts with the D league.  D League really is the future of the league. Each team should have a designated team not shared. Even players out of HS should be drafted but go to the D League for min 2 yrs. All picks go there to start the season and earn the right to play. Make lesser salaries for draft picks but bonuses for NBA appearances in rookie contract. Highly competitive D league with f.a. there the same as NBA. Can imagine D league just like the MLB minor league and causing crazy media attention when the prospect joins their parent team. Will be another option other than to going overseas. Pay them RESPONSIBLY and teach them how to SPEND, SAVE, and PLAY and you make the NBA the sport of all sports!

    I also hope that every team has their own D-League affiliate in the future, and that the D-League gains in popularity. With the popularity of college basketball, I don’t think the D-League will ever become as popular as minor league baseball or hockey, but I do think the D-League can become an important force for improving the quality of play in the NBA (via player development and experimentation).

    I hope that in the future they expand the NBA Draft to three or four rounds, and each team carries about 25 guys on their roster (12 active and 13 inactive/D-League), with call-ups and send-downs a normal thing for a young player. Hopefully they’ll increase player salaries a bit as well (currently players make about $20,000/yr).

     I couldn’t agree more with the d-league expanding to all 30 teams in the NBA. (Maybe more if they decide to expand to 32 and add Seattle and some eastern team). Anyways, the D-League can be huge for the future of the NBA as well, like OP said, by improving talent on your team slowly while remaining competitive. 

    I think the draft should be 3 rounds as well, but high school players would have to wait until at least the second round to be drafted. This extra round could also be used instead of the D-League draft, and players selected in the third round would be sent to the affiliate team, until called up. 

    Call ups too should be a regular thing like Orser said. And that each week or game, whichever, players can be brought up and eligible to play. While every team has the opportunity to trade for D-League players from another teams as well. 

    Hopefully the NBA capitalizes on the growth opportunity for many more players to be found and have a chance to fulfill their dreams
