Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Sixers are trying to acquire former 29th overall pick Marquis Teague from the Nets. Woj reports that the Nets wouldn’t recieve anything in significance.

I was a strong advocate for Teague and his capabilities coming out of the HS ranks. Since he has been in the league, he has done nothing at all to establish himself as a former Calipari PG. It appears that he has no purpose at all, because he has done nothing to show he’s worked on his individual skills to translate on the elite level. Teague is not bigger, faster, and stronger than everyone else anymore.

    Interesting.

Is this another sign the Sixers are trying to move MCW? Wroten is already beeing talked about as an internal replacement for MCW but my guess is that MCW will remain a Sixer. I can’t remember the last time the reigning ROY has been shoped so often or at least the whole talk about that.

What so ever, Teague is still a decent talent and playing time could do wonders for someone like him who has really problems behind vets on veteran playoff teams or on ambitious teams.

Do the Sixers have any vets at all left since Thad is gone??? This bunch of talents won’t go nowhere without someone veteran leadership, especially in the frontcourt and the backcourt.

They will need at least 2 more spark guys so that Tony can start beside MCW. It will work. They just need more plugs for the ignition.

I highly highly doubt that Marquis Teague of all people is a sign that they’re trying to get rid of MCW.

According to the report that he was being shopped, he was just being floated for a King’s Ransom to see if any team would give up the farm for MCW.  Most likely, no team will.  I don’t think Philly wants to trade him.  They simply aren’t afraid to trade him if someone gives them an overwhelming offer.

if they ever wanna get off the tank then wroten is NOT a replacement. if anything, he’s a tank commander.  he’s way too wild and erratic and will likely always be. dude throws more no look passes than "look" passes. can’t shoot. still sucks from the line.  decision making is still horrible on both ends too.

im not sold on mcw as their future starting pg. seems like the 6ers aren’t either which is why they’ve been trying to flip him. i think their future PG to go along with that core isn’t on the roster yet.

teague sucks. as an NBA pg, he literally does nothing well or even average.

The Sixers have enough young pieces, they should start looking to sign some good value vets and establish a winning culture as early as next season.

With Embiid, Noel, Saric and MCW, plus a guy like Kelly Oubre or Mudiay from this draft, they have all the young talent they need and need to start learning to win games with a few well-placed vets. All youth never works.

The Thunder had Collison, Thabo and later Perkins, the young Grizzlies added Randolph.

Clippers added Paul and solid role players around Griffin and DJ, the Wizards added Nene, Ariza and Gortat to supplement their youth movement.

Gotta have that mix of upside and talent or you end up like the Kings, who went all in on youth but just couldn’t make it work without quality veteran role players.

This should absolutely be the last season the Sixers outright tank like this.

They do not want to win.

They have been rebuilding since 12/19/06

I just wish they would start to assemble youth or vets in a manner that gives fans the chance to see some light at the end of the tunnel. They could still do it in a way that keeps us from winning in the short term, but at least you would be able to get a better feel for the end game.

On that note, my first ridiculous trade idea for the upcoming season (albeit one that couldn’t even be possible in bizzarro-world until 12/15).

Sixers get Zack Levine, Jordan Clarkson, Gerald Henderson, Andrew Wiggins, Jordan Hill, Noah Vonleh and Georgiu Dieng (sp?)

Hornets get Elliot Williams, Anthony Bennett and Henry Sims.

Timberwolves get MCW, Tony Wroten, Julius Randle, Joel Embid, Cody Zeller and Steve Nash’s expiring contract.

Lakers get Ricky Rubio, Shabazz Muhammad, Bismack Biyombo and Nikola Pecovic.

Ridiculous I know, but the more you think about it, it works.

Sixers build full team complete with several vets for leadership and yet deprive it of a floor general thus rendering it limited in its effectiveness. Essentially Levine, Shved and Calrkson are trying out for the backup role next season. They try for Mudiay in the draft to give them a "big 3" of Mudiay, Wiggins and Noel. Very Chicago-ish look to team then. Otherwise best available and/ or go after a top trade target PG (Rondo?) or sign someone like G. Dragic.

Charlotte unloads Henderson’s Contract so they can extend/ resign some core players, Anthony Bennett would be an intriguing stretch 4 option there, Sims would be able to give quality minutes in a back-up role and Williams buys time until Hairston is full go.

Minnesota completes overhaul and positions themselves perfectly to take avantage of power void with final end of run for LA, San Antonio. They also remain relevant enough to make playoffs now and give themselves incredible depth and talent a several positions.

Lakers go all in for now after taking turns kissing Mamba’s backside one more time. Despite doing this, they also assemble some young talent that could help with the retooling effort moving forward.

Phew crazy, I know. Can’t wait for the start of this season, Go Six..err never mind it’s going to be a long 8 months or so. Now speaking of tanked, where’d I put that beer.

The crazy part of it all, is that Brandon Knight gets more grief than a little for not being in the mold of Rose and Wall, but Teague looked the part.

I didn’t think he was ready for the NBA two years ago and has done little tochange my mind, BUT….Wednesday night he played significant minutes against the Celtics and showed some of the moves his brother has….there may be hope for him yet

Ehh I wouldn’t call 10 points and 4 assists signs of hope considering he had 6 TO’s and was -23 in only 24 minutes playing one of the weakest teams in the league to begin with and one that didn’t play many of their better players much at all

good riddens for the nets. you know what the sixers need? a hero ball point guard that never was. he may have a good flashy game here and there like some and 1 mix tape, but he’s awful. teague should go play in the phillipines.

Teague had some good moments in Summer League this year. He racked up assists and I think didn’t turn the ball over. He has not looked good in preseason though. As a Nets fan I’m very thankful that he is gone. He really has at times been so bad that it didn’t matter how good the rest of the bench was (and the Nets were very deep last year). No lead was safe when Teague was in the game. But he has the speed and size that you could see an NBA team continuing to try to develop him. Since the Nets actually want to win games, it was a precarious place for that to happen.

The Sixers are looking to Tank again. 15 to 20 minutes a night of Teagues should help in that regards. And if Teagues learns how to utilize his speed in the context of an NBA game and if he learns a few more PG skills, then he could be a legit bench PG. Then the Sixers can cut his minutes and find another Tank Commander.

Hollins after Teagues’s last Preseason game (the stats of which are qouted above). What can you learn from Preseason? "You can learn which guys can’t play." Bye bye Teague.

More salary dump by Brooklyn. Gave up a 2 for Philly to take him and took back a non-guaranteed deal. Saves Brooklyn between 4-5M despite Teague making a little over a mil because of the repeater penalty for paying the tax
