McDunkinBoris Diaw has a weight clause in his contract with the San Antonio Spurs in which he will earn bonuses of as much as $500,000.
Diaw will receive $150,000 for weighing less than or equal to 254 pounds on Oct. 25 and again on the first Tuesday after the All-Star Game and again on April 1.
Those three dates give Diaw an incentive to be in shape for the start of the regular season, the post-All-Star stretch and for the final push before the playoffs.

TRC1991ParticipantI wouldn’t be shocked if he didn’t hit the 254 lb goal

ExumInfernoParticipantThat might show how the Spurs are a lot smarter than many other franchises, giving players an incentive to perform well. It is also how the Spurs pay players, they pay them for results while other teams overpay for potential. A bit like how they know they can win if they don’t overpay players like Turkoglu and Nesterovic and S Jackson.
Although, if the Spurs have their centers hit by injuries, they might be wishing Diaw did weigh more so at least he could have bulk in the post to lean on the big centers.
One more silly thought, that $500,000 is going to be able to buy a lot of food. On April 2, time to head to an All-You-Can-Eat place for a big meal.

HitsterParticipantNice little bonus but he has got $7.5 million guaranteed for this season whatever. The Spurs have also only guaranteed the 3rd year of his deal to the tune of $3 million so they don’t have to pay him the full $6.5 million and with his 4th year being totally unguaranteed, at worse he’ll be a nice trade asset next season.

McDunkinI don’t know what it is about Diaw.
A lot of NBA players and athletes in general look skinnier when out of uniform but he just looks like he has a Homer Simpson physique no matter what. I just cant believe he is 245 or even in the mid 200’s at least he didn’t look it during the FIBA games

JoeWolf1Seems like a funny dude.
There’s a story about him at the combine showing up in flip flops and a cup of coffee, and then taking off his shoes and hitting the 12′ mark bare foot.
