Hey duders, I’m working on a little project where I’m trying to rank the top ten NBA teams with the most 25 and under talent. The only rule is that the player cannot be born in 1988. No Durant, Westbrook, Rose, Love, etc.

Eric Gordon (December 1988) is a NO, while Michael Beasley (January of 1989) is a GO–if he could ever find a team that is.

I’ve compiled a list of 20 or so teams with the most young 25 and under talent and I’ve listed them below. I’m hoping you will rank THE TOP TEN and provide thoughts and reasons for why if it all possible. (NOTE: I used hoopshype.com for the rosters and I may have made some errors and such)

I’ve subjectively divided the list into two tiers, with the first tier holding what I believe to have slightly more young potential than the second. Feel free to disagree.

Anyway, thanks for your input. I appreciate it. With no further adieu…

This is a tough one. Clearly New Orleans is #1 with Anthony Davis, Jrue, and Tyreke, but after that it’s hard to decide between production like you get with someone like Washington with Wall and Beal and little else or someone like Philly with the top prospect in each of the last two drafts in Embiid and Noel plus ROY Carter-Williams and even Saric. Not to mention two of the better players on the list in Bledsoe and Monroe are still FA’s.

Would have been cool to rank them in order as opposed to alphabetical.  In rank I would have the Pelicans top because they have a 21 year old top 7 player.  Then probably the Wiz who have to proven players in Beal and Wall.

Kevin Love is still 25 so until Sept 7th, Cavs are number 1. This question is a hell of a lot more difficult than I anticipated. I say Minnesota and Orlando in a contest for that top spot based off of TALENT and not necessarily wins produced.

I took Love and the other ’88 born players out because they’ve been dominating this conversation for years, and now they’ve pretty much taken over the league. They’re not the up and comers anymore. If we’re including the 88’s then clearly OKC would be killing this list with Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka, Jackson, Lamb, Jones, Adams, and McGary.

It’s Saul Goodman. This is just for fun. It’s kind of cool that all the ’88s are finally old enough to get off this list. I wonder how that year ranks among others when it comes to having the most HOF players? Like against a random year like 1973?

Most of those Cleveland players are middling-to-bad…. Kyrie is the only one on that list that is at least somewhat consistent. Charlotte wins this by a landslide, Walker is very underrated, and I think Stephenson is the best 2 guard in the league, or at least the East.

I like the talent of Minn. Philly, Charlotte, & Orlando  BUT

As a Jazz fan I’ll take the Jazz,  Favors, Hayward, Kanter Burks, Burke, Exum, Hood, Gobert, there are other young players but those 8 I would put up against any 8 any other team has.  Being as young as they are how many wins they garner this year is a big question but I see a team with tremendous upside and a team fun to watch, especially with the way Coach Snyder plans to play. Uptempo, spread, alot of 3’s , I see Favors having a much better year, he has been slow to develop but I think he finally gets what he has to do and I think he has been working on those things this summer. Kanter is going to be asked to shoot the 3 and I think he will show he has the range/touch to be successfull. Burks & Hayward will benifit from Snyders style, Burke and Exum will have a much more open floor to operate in, Hood will show he can shoot and handle and be a good rotation player and Gobert has been showing alot of improvement during the summer and with his French national team and I think he will get rotation minutes.

New Orleans top guys are so good, but in terms of depth Utah takes it for me. Philly has some young talent as well
