ExumInfernoParticipantBig Z is still 7-3, and he likes Cleveland and playing basketball with LeBron, and now he might return to action.
The Cavs needed some more height, he would not be bad for 5 to 10 minutes of backup center play.
Maybe closer to 5 minutes very second game.

JoeWolf1Big Z could barely move 3 years ago. I doubt father time has done him many favors since then. He’s smart, and skilled, but I seriously doubt he can compete at an NBA level anymore. The Cavs could hire him for a coaching spot, but he’d be a waste of a veteran minumum contract IMO. Because he’s played 10+ years in the league, he’d command about 1.5 million per year…Would you rather have Emeka Okafor for that kind of price tag?

HitsterParticipantBig Z is a legend in Cleveland and perhaps he regrets not getting another year in Miami to have got a title, but after 3 years plus out of the game, any comeback would be a huge risk. We all know that him and LeBron are good mates and Big Z may workout a bit on court with LeBron in the next few weeks.
Big Z has a front office job in Cleveland so there is no real need for him to come back effectively looking for a job and I’d assume he’s fairly well set financially after a long NBA career. Any comeback would depend very much on what sort of shape he would be in and perhaps he could take a very late career Mount Mutombo role where he sat on the bench almost as an insurance policy for his last couple of years.
I can understand Big Z perhaps still stepping on the practice court, I have no idea if he is still in reasonable shape as I didn’t see his jersey retiring event online. If he was still in shape then a comeback could be considered but I’d think it would be much more likely to be for later in the season and possibly as the last bench guy in the play off roster. It would make sense for Big Z to perhaps workout with the team and have a play off roster spot as a possible goal but I would not see much point having him on the roster all year. Also if he was clearly not getting back up to playing level ( I won’t say playing speed as he never really had any), I’d hope someone like LBJ would have a quiet word with him and tell him perhaps he should stick to his front office role.
Big Z as I said is a Cavs legend and a genuinely popular player, the sort a lot of neutrals would have been happy to see get a ring, so I would not want to see him embarrass himself on court. The ironic thing about him having no real speed in his playing days is that he’d have no speed to regain so coming back may not be so stupid. If all he had to do was rebound on defence and pass the ball to one of the big 3 then he could be an option, almost playing in his own half. But I would want Big Z to consider very carefully before he did try to make the roster.

Toronto16ParticipantYou have to know when it is time. Big Z, your time passed 4 years ago.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI hope he comes back, if only for matchups with Kendrick Perkins battles in the Finals.
3rd string center options are pretty limited. It’s basically guys like Greg Oden and Hamed Haddadi.
He should go for it.
He doesn’t matchup well with most bigs, but ironically, he matches up ok with other contenders.
Perkins and Splitter start on the two top Western contenders.
I even think Big Z can help slow down Pau and Tim Duncan… even score on those guys with Z’s blend of size, smarts, and shooting touch.
