Please correct me if im wrong on any of  this. Just writing this based on what i heard over the past few months.

but all reports are that love innitially epxressed interest in playing for the warriors. But when the wolves and warriors discussed possible deals, klay thompson was one of the wolve’s must have names and the warriors balked at including him. I researched a few articles and what I gathered was the team felt that steph curry is a defensive liability and Klay is a very good defender who complimented him well. They felt giving up klay’s defense to add a second star who was also a defensive liability in love was not the correct way to compete for a title.

So what do you guys think? Was keepiong klay worth not pursuing a deal for love? It would probably have been something like klay, david lee and some other throw in. Did the warriors mess up?

In my opinion they made the right choice. To me the upgrade of Kevin Love over David Lee would be enough to overcome the loss of Klay Thompson and any other pieces lost in a deal. They have a strong line up poised for a successful season.

personally i think thompson and lee are easier to replace then it is to find a true star like love. I mean curry and love together would have been sick. Plus bogut and iguodala are both very good defenders. Just had to get another good defensive gaurd to play the two. Plus klay is a free agent next summer. Teams will be throwing max deals at him. Warriors gonna have to break open the wallet big time to keep him.

Warriors actually made the right descision. Klay Thompson is young and so valuable on so many levels on that team through his shooting range and defensive assignments that it’s not worth it. Not to mention that he is good both on the ball and off the ball and can score heavy in spurts. He doesn’t have to be "the man", but can at times. And David Lee isn’t exactly a push over either. Kevin Love maybe a better version of Lee, but David Lee is still good. And then they want more? Wolves were silly not to take the trade when they had the chance.

Usually I would never trade a superstar for starters, but in this case I would. I regard Kevin Love as a great powerforward in the league and would agree with the James Harden statement that I’d rather have love than Carmelo. That’s just me. I say Anthony Davis and the ageless Tim Duncan during his limited time on the floor will be the only PFs defiinitively better than Kevin Love going into next season. (not last season) Of course others such as Griffin and Aldridge and others could be debatable, but he’s that good. And I still say the Warriors were smart to keep their team as is. If they could stay healthy, they are as good as anybody.

as a long time warriors fan, i would have missed klay, but would have accepted that it was a neecesary price to get a player of love’s caliber. now that we still have him and did not get love, im just as happy keeping him and missing out on love.

yes kevin love would have made us much better, but at the same time, we would still have gapping hole at the 2 guard. shaun livingston could have started in klay’s place and take his defensive duties, but i still believe it wouldnt be as strong. the dynamics of the team would have been much different as well. klay’s role on the team is more than a your usual 3 and D guy.

he actually gets his fair share of opportunities to create and not just live off solely on catch and shoot opportunities. he’s a good passer and has a great understanding of spacing and where to be on the court. on defense, he plays stand out team and man to man defense. takes on the primary ball handler most of the time, and when he doesnt, hardly gets beaten on back door cuts. and he’s clutch. a big time player down the stretch goes a long ways. great team attitude and very pro approach.

now im not saying that he is on par of a level of player as love. what im trying to say is that he’s a very good player on his own right and the things he brings to the team isnt that easy to replace. i would even go as far to say that he’s the best off ball shooting guard in the league today. and being in a league that has a ton of ball dominant point guards, that helps a lot.

I’m in likely the minority. I believe the Warriors are better not trading for K-Love. It was going to be a better trade for the Cavs not Golden State in my opinion.

Klay is going to become one of the top SG in league if he isn’t already is already.

Barns would start for most teams and defends at a high level. He is a solid two way player, and likely will get better on the offensive end. At least a little. Would you be surprised he ended up better then Luol Deng ?

David Lee is a above solid player that will give you 15 ppg. He isn’t the greatest defender, but isn’t for lack of effort. He is scrappy on defense and crafty on offense.

Yes I would be very surprised if he ended up being better than Luol. He doesn’t have a handle, can’t score off the dribble and isn’t an elite level shooter. He is only a bit above average defensively, and thats backed up by analytics. He blew up because of a couple dunks and one solid playoff series. He is the modern day Marvin Williams.

barnes is still young if he ever puts it together he could become a force to be reckon with.

I wouldn’t have done the trade who will replace  the chemistry curry had with klay?

david lee and barnes and a pick would have been good but including klay is to much?

Hes like a kevin martin maybe not as better as martin in his prime but he won more them martin and the biggest reason I wouldn’t have pulled it is because of Cleveland what if he bolts there in free agency? That would have been a huge blow to gs trading all your players for love just so he can go to a serious title contender in the offseason?
