I just don’t see the Lakers making the playoffs again this season, the Western Conference is just too darn hard. All the teams that made the playoffs seem like they’ll make it again, unless the Clippers forfeit their season due to the whole Donald Sterling situation. In the event that does happen, the teams next in line to get a playoff spot are either the Phoenix Suns or/and Denver Nuggets. Kobe’s last two years in the league may be miserable if he stays in LA, they just don’t have enough to get them over the hump to make it to the playoffs, much less to contend for a championship. With that said, does anyone see a scenario where Kobe gets frustrated enough to demand a trade out of LA? I could see that happening, we all know Kobe is a competitor and wants to tie Jordan up with 6 rings or even surpass “His Airness”, with 7. The most logical trade partner would be with the Knicks, for the most natural reasons. To team up with his boy Melo, reunite with Phil, Fisher, and Rambis, knows the triangle offense well, and maintains his popularity in a big market. Amare’s expiring contract, Shumpert, and Tim Hardaway Jr. or Jr. Smith should be enough to acquire the 37 year old perennial all-star.

They sure have a lot of power forwards on that roster. Julius Randle, Ed Davis, Carlos Boozer, Jordan Hill, Ryan Kelly.

Their starting lineup will probably look like:

    PG: Steve Nash
    SG: Nick Young
    SF: Kobe Bryant
    PF: Carlos Boozer
    C: Jordan Hill
    Bench
    Jordan Clarkson
    Jeremy Lin
    Julius Randle
    Ed Davis
    Robert Sacre
    Wes Johnson
    Xavier Henry

If Kobe can stay healthy, they’ll be a 40 win team. This is certainly a very fun lineup especially with Byron Scott as the coach.

Interesting idea, but I’m sure it wouldn’t happen until the trade deadline.

it’s gonna be a trying season for sure. i think they have a shot at .500 if kobe stays healthy. Kobe has publicly said he respects what kupchak tried to do this summer and the effort to improve the team even though it didnt really work out, so he doesnt seem angry at the moment. Plus kobe is a huge byron scott fan. I think kobe is more focused on trying to stay healthy at the moment and return to the level of play he expects of himself, then he will start putting more demands on the team. But he will retire a laker.

Aren’t the Knicks/Lakers being watched closely by the league in regards to doing any business together because of Phil/Jeanie?

Many Laker fans would riot in the streets if the anointed one was traded. I wouldn’t.

It would be great for Kobe, the Lakers, and possibly the Knicks. I’m not sure about the personnel in the trade

They could get Tim Hardaway Jr. or Shane Larkin, but neither are likely future al-stars. I think trading for draft picks would be better. Either way, anything is better than what’s happening now.

They clarified that when Jeanine Buss stated it when it wouldn’t be an issue, because her brother handles the basketball operations not her…That’s a fair trade though, if it was lopsided I think the league would definitely not approve it

Kobe going to the Knicks is just stupid. He’s not winning anything there either. I could see him being traded to the bulls for Taj Gibson, Butler and a couple of first rounders. That team would be unbeatable if Rose is healthy.

i honestly cant see kobe deflecting to Rose in an NBA game. keep in mind that Kobe was the one who recruited Nash and even when he was healthy, he still wasnt getting the ball in a Mike D’Antoni ran team, Kobe did. wheather its Derick Rose, Chris Paul, or Russell Westbrook, i think Kobe has absolute confidence in his abilities to not give up control of the ball for majority of the game, thus lowering his point guard’s effectiveness.
