    As an Englishman, the Hand of God goal is still a sore point for some of us.

    Check out Roberto Carlos impossible goal on YouTube to see another cracker or Brazilian vs Scotland 1982 to see a few Brazilian specials.

    How is that handball not called?? I played soccer for a long time and refereed also.  I’ve seen a lot of terrible calls, but nothing ever like the hand of god.

      That’s one of the most famous goals of all time in the history of soccer. There’s still debate to this day, but i agree with you, it was pretty obvisouly a hand-ball.  That quarterfinal game "the hand of god" ended Argentina 2 England 1.  Argentina went on to beat West Germany in the finals 3-2 winning the cup in 1986.

     If the referee is at pitch level then he can miss things, I cannot recall where the linesman was. Football has never had video replays really so decisions have to stand.
