What surprised you the most as far as results from tonight’s draft?

Bruno Caboclo and Josh Huestis- I had neither of those guys even in the second round of my mock draft, went in the 1st round. After seeing a little more highlights of Bruno, I can understand why a team might use a stash pick on him in the early 2nd but the 20th pick? I knew how Josh Huestis was and know he’s a decent player and all but like always, good players go undrafted every year and didn’t even consider him as a 2nd rounder. Especially with Cleanthony Early and GR3 still being on the board for a backup SF, why did they pass on those two for Huestis who they could have probably easily purchased in the 2nd round. Especially for a team that needs more scorers than just Durant and Westbrook.

Rodney Hood-Amazed by how far he dropped, had him going 11th and figured if Philly was not going to get a SF at 3, then I considered him as a sleeper to slide up. But then fell all the way to 23 and even Memphis passed on him who needs a SF badly with Tayshaun Prince only getting older.

Vasilije Micic-This guy lead the Serbian U19 team last summer that had a good shot of beating a Team USA with Marcus Smart, Aaron Gordon, Jahlil Okafor and Elfrid Payton twice and fell all the way to 52nd? Understand he’s not the most athletic PG in this class but nothing can take away his floor vision, his high IQ and his passing ability. Hopefully this could someday compare to Patty Mills falling to 57th a year after his breakout performance against the 2008 Team USA squad as a 19 year old.

Cleanthony Early-Guess the most accurate excuse would be his age. Some say he will have to adjust to the PF at the NBA level but I highly disagree with that as he has a great outside game. Another Draymond Green situation potentially?

Kyle Anderson-Sure I have been saying he’s my first projection to bust. But even for a prospect I don’t like, I was pretty damn shocked to see him one pick away from not getting a guaranteed 1st round contract.

Gary Harris-Was not very high on him either but was first shocked to see him about to fall out of the lottery then fell all the way to #19. Denver sounds like a good spot for him to learn from Aaron Afflalo.

Dario Saric-Although we have seen teams use lottery picks on players they knew were not going to come overseas until a few years in recent drafts, didn’t expect him to go that high after signing that contract in Turkey. Also learned that Philly is not in a rush to start winning immediately after taking Embiid and Saric.

Jabari Brown-Really liked what I saw from his last year at Missouri especially his outside shot and his slashing ability. Averaged 20 ppg in arguably the most competitive conference in D-1 basketball. If you ask me, that was quite surprising that not one team took a chance on him.

Bruno Caboclo has to be the biggest surprise in many years! Also a big head scratcher at #20.

Bill Simmons reaction “what just happened” had me rolling.

How many times have we seen Toronto over the years think they are outsmarting everyone ?  Shades of Rafael Araujo.  As a Philly fan I was a bit shocked at the Saric move and in general – for a team who needed shooting, taking guys whose Bio’s all seem to start – not a good shooter.

I read that the Rapotors GM has said that they plan on bringing Bruno over immediately. They must know something that we don’t. I was proud of myself for having him go 59th on my mock but at 20 that was a shock. Last year I didn’t think Giannis would be able to compete at the NBA level so quickly; maybe he is comparable to someone like him. This is going to be one of the best, or worst picks in recent memory I believe.

Nobody though Giannis would be ready. Sure he is still pretty raw but did pretty good last year showing lots of signs of potential. If Toronto does know something that we don’t, then hopefully this can potentially compare in a way.

I’m shocked that no team took a bite on James McAdoo. Even despite his underacheiving college career I thought surely he was worth a late second round pick.

I’m not surprised that McAdoo went undrafted but I’m pretty disappointed in him after being projected to be a Top 5 pick of the 2012 draft. I’ll also admit that I do feel bad for him that he went undrafted cuz he seems like a good guy and it wasn’t his fault that he was so overrated coming out of high school.

very suprised that he was a first rounder. To me hes a role player at very best not a championship starter but thats just my opinion. I was shocked because I read he was witholding his medical records regarding his back. Just seemed fishy but maybe this move was calculated to keep certain teams away. I liked the toronto picking The Brazilian Durant, bold.

CJ Wilcox in the 1st round weas a small suprise and conversly I thought KJ McDaniels and GRIII would have snuck into the first round also

    very entertaining draft

Just about all guys who have every been picked that late end up just being role players. Most late first rounders aren’t championship starters

Thunder passed on them because Huestis outplayed early and the other small forwards by a big margin in their workouts (which surprised them) they knew he could defend (which early can’t) but they didn’t realize he could handle and shoot the ball as well as he did(never shot less than 7 out of 10 from NBA three in workouts). Prestige also said

Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti said as much.

"He may be one of the best athletes that’s walked through our gym," Presti said Thursday. "His athletic testing numbers, in combination with his intelligence as a player and team member makes a very, very intriguing package for us."
