WhodunitParticipantBullish
Blake Griffin++
Tyreke Evans ++ (knew he’d always be a driver to the basket if nothing else. Thought he’d always compete hard)
Ricky Rubio+ ( thought he was too smart and involved in all facets of the game to be a failure)
Johnny Flynn++ (was great in college)
Jordan Hill
Ty Lawson+ (great, quick scorer in college)
Demmare Carroll (hustle guy thru and thru, always a spot for these type of guys)
Goran Suton (thought he’d be good after a strong showing in the tournament)
Sam Young (liked most of the Pittsburgh team that year)
Dejuan Blair++ (a bulldog who’d overpower all.. Also see Thabeet below)
Nick Calathes+ (great PG at florida who was a true pg)
Bearish
Hasheem Thabeet —————- (i’d have bet the worlds future he was gonna be a bust. What still stands out to me is when Dejuan Blair ripped the rebound away from him and he went falling to the floor with his arm almost being pulled out.)
James Harden — (didnt look aggressive enough in college, was slow and not a great shooter and athlete)
Terrence Williams (an athlete with no skills)
Earl Clark (athletic tweener with no skills)
Tyler Hansborough (would get roughed up in the NBA. Still love his shooting style though for some reason)
Austin Daye— (guys like him never work out)
Stephen Curry (too small, not a good PG-prospect, thought his competition in a lesser conference inflated his numbers.. too small to last even though he was an excellent shooter)
BJ Mullens (left too early for financial reasons. Wasnt developed enough to leave yet)

For_Never_EverParticipantI loved Stephen Curry in that draft my comparison for him was a offensive minded Steve Nash. I though he had all of Nash skills and ability of being a great all around shooter with the ball handling. I was so high on him being great, and so far he has meet my experctation. Never thought he was going to be the passer Nash is, but hopefully that aspect of his game gets better.
I thought Hasheem Thabeet was going to be good. That didn’t turn out well. Also I thought Brandon Jennings was going to be better then Ricky Rubio. They both haven’t panned out.

Winning_TimeParticipantLoved:
Wayne Ellington- thought he would be the steal of the draft honestly…yikes.
Stephen Curry- always believed he could work up to a top 10 player in this league.
Gerald Henderson- He’s done pretty well in the NBA but I honestly thought he would be a bit better.
Jeff Teague- He was too qucik and crafty at Wake to not be good.
Ricky Rubio- I was blown away with him at the time, I would have taken Curry over him but not by much.
Blake Griffin- Too east to be honest, knew he would at least be what he has become.
Eric Maynor- Thought he was too smoth and smart to not amount to a good role player.
No Belief in at all:
James Harden
James Johnson
Jrue Holiday
Austin Daye

Rip255I was high on Patty Mills and thought he’d get first round consideration. I think teams were reluctant based in his size and mid-major school.
I thought Thabeet was cant-miss as a new-age Dikembe who would beat other centres down the floor in transition

Toronto16ParticipantI wanted DeRozan from the get go. Always roll the dice with kids who are obsessed with basketball, chances are they have a great work ethic.

Jester87ParticipantI liked:
– Chase Budinger, been a fan since his high school days, got shocked when he fell from projected 15-25 range to mid first round. I guess he’s been a little worse than what I expected, but injuries didn’t help
– Terrence Williams, I loved his passing skills and his athleticism, but I knew his jumper and his attitude were legit concerns. I think off court issues and his character have held him back more than anything else.
– Ricky Rubio, always been a huge fan since his very early days. He’s been a bit disappointing
– Jodie Meeks, I thought he could flat out play, great shooter, and great shooters always have a chance in the league
– Eric Maynore, loved his craftiness and size for the position, also a winner in college, I thought he was a steal at 20, I was wrongI didn’t like:
– Derozan, I thought lack of skills would’ve prevented him from succeeding
– Thabeet, nobody except the Grizzlies liked him
– Brandon Jennings, saw him play live in Italy, he was terrible (bad shot selections, bad decision making, constantly hijacking his team’s offense) and immature off the court, I thought he was going to be Sebastian Telfair with a worse attitude. I was shocked when he had that crazy start in his rookie season
– Tyler Hansbrough, I thought his game wouldn’t have translated, short, not all that athletic, he used to score a lot on putbacks and garbage points, I was pretty sure he was going to be a bust.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/25/2014 - 3:45am #926161
