Memphis MadnessParticipantIf the Heat want to continue competing then they need to upgrade their roster.
With Embiid’s injury he should drop. He might even drop a lot.
I think the Heat need a legit center. A guy to pair with Chris Bosh inside. If D Wade doesn’t take less money then the Heat will be hamstrung.
Oden/Embiid jokes aside, could the Heat put a decent offer on the table for Joel Embiid?
Trade up to take Embiid for Norris Cole, Birdman, 26, 55, cash, and a future first round pick.
Norris Cole is a solid backup point guard type, and Birdman (when healthy) is a solid inside guy who can help a contender as a third or fourth big man. The 26th pick should be solid, plus the other team gets 55 and a future first rounder.
With Embiid on board, the Heat can let Greg Oden walk (or use a wheel chair or whatever), and they get (perhaps) their center of the future.
Their Big Three could take smaller pay cuts then go out and sign a guy like Chandler Parsons or something to be the fourth option.
Chalmers, D Wade, Parsons, LeBron, and Bosh would be their regular lineup which they can tweak with Embiid off the bench or paired up front with Bosh. Ray Allen could also form some bigger D Wade/Ray Allen backcourts.
The Heat could sign another Florida guy in Scottie Wilbekin to be their Norris Cole replacement, or take a run at Patty Mills.
If the Heat get Chandler Parsons, Patty Mills, AND Joel Embiid that would be one heck of an offseason.
Embiid might not fall that far, BUT if he does, then that Heat deal could look solid.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI wonder how far he can fall?
If he free falls to the 15-20 range then this could be a good enough offer.

dcaseParticipantI don’t even know where to start. 1) Even with the foot injury (we don’t know how serious it is at this point), Embiid will not fall out of the top 4 or 5, 2) Birdman opted out of his contract, 3) don’t see the Big 3 taking less money to bring Parsons in….plus he is a restricted free agent, so Houston can match any offer and likely would considering Miami can’t offer much, 4) why would Mills sign with the Heat over the Spurs and likley for less money, and 5) I don’t think any team is going to give up a potential superstar (injuries aside) for some low draft picks and Norris Cole.
