Good drafting, good trades and free agents signings, but economically they are so much better than other teams for what they get for what they spend.

Splitter’s salary even goes down every year, making it a bit easier on the Spurs to afford new stars in the future.

Among the 19 teams that spend more than the Spurs are Minnesota, New York, New Orleans and Cleveland.

The Kings, Spurs and Hornets all spend around the same money on their players.

The Spurs are also ranked very well for giving their fans affordable tickets, and getting some championships too is a great reward for them.

Yeh they are good and all but Duncan, Parker and Ginobili have taken much less than market value to keep a contender around them.  Makes it a bit easier.  Duncan should conceivably be making Kobe money right now.

When Duncan signed his contract he wasn’t healthy and was only playing 20-25 min a game. They got him on a down year so that’s why his contract is cheap. I don’t think any of the other spurs have taken pay cuts except ginobili. Splitter is arguably overpaid.
