Andrew1984ParticipantESPN Cleveland reported today:
ESPN Cleveland @ESPNCleveland
@TheRealTRizzo: Sources tell me Joel Embiid’s physical w/ the #Cavs did not go well. Enough red flags that they won’t take him #1 overall.
Yet, on June 11 ProBasketballDraft.com tweeted:
Probasketballdraft @Probballdraft · Jun 11
News is positive in Cleveland after Cavs examine Joel Embiid’s back and see no longterm concerns, according to a source.
Someone’s sources are wrong! Which is it?!

aramboneParticipantIt doesn’t take much to make teams skittish, which is how guys like Royce White and Andrew Nicholson got drafted ahead of Jared Sullinger.

buckeyefan17ParticipantIf Cavs pick him he becomes Greg Oden.
If the Cavs passion him he becomes Hakeem Olajuwon…

hbomb3300ParticipantProbably true… I’ve learned to expect the worst living in Cleveland lol. Just think how bad the player would of been that they would of taken at 9… feel better?

tidhoParticipantRizzo is a talk radio guy, that’s done some local TV work. Locally, most don’t believe he’s particularly plugged in. His lone voice should not be permitted to cause draft hysteria.

Memphis MadnessParticipantGood year to be picking at 3. You still have two of the "Big Four" on the board and just go with a guy that "fits" the best.
At one, you have a 25% chance of getting the best guy among the "Big Four" (1/4).

TyroberParticipantThe Cavs are not going to tell anyone who they are going to pick. Was there a single writer last year that had sources of them taking Bennett #1? If there was I was unaware. If those same guys know it this year then why didn’t they know it last year? The Cavs aren’t telling people who they are selecting #1. Too many people are throwing the word sources in their posts and saying whatever the hell they want too.

hbomb3300ParticipantAgreed… I’ve read that the Cavs made the final decision on Bennett the afternoon of the draft so there is plenty of time for them to change their minds. If you need further proof of this just look at their coach search… they still have no idea who they want.

tidhoParticipant1) last years draft and this years coach search have nothing to do with each other, they aren’t even being run by the same people.
2) they’ve taken their time looking for a coach and now have three people coming in over the next week for second interviews.

hbomb3300Participant1. Griffin and Gilbert were a big part of the decision making process last year… guess who is deciding this year? Not a big switch.
2. The amount of time they have taken, along with the number of people they’ve considered, and the mass amount of money they offered Calapari shows their lack of confidence in the options at hand. If they met with an option they loved he would of already been hired.

tidhoParticipantLocally there was. It broke pretty late in the process that he was on the short list based on upside. That news never really reached the mock draft community, or they just dismissed it.

he is really connected in so looks like RED FLAG Embiid’s back.
His physical was yesterday Thursday the 12th,
so the other tweet on the 11th clearing him is just a flat out lie. There are many source that say his physical was on the 12th!
Including: http://www.fearthesword.com/2014/6/10/5797398/nba-draft-rumors-joel-embiid-cleveland-cavaliers
which includes screen grab tweets from probaskettbaldraft stating so, which contradicts the Wednesday passed tweet above.

Neggedpastorlets say their are a lot of red flags and no one in the top 3 takes him because they all gave him red flags also…who touches him? who passes on all the talent in the lottery for a person who may or may not live up to his upside and has red flags about his back. Remember how Sully was number 1 pick at one point stayed stocked dropped and red flags about his back helped him slip out of lotto all together.
I don’t think he has worked out for many teams outside of top 3 or 4 so no one else has medical records on him.
who goes out on a limb and drafts him if the red flags show up? its hard to figure out if he somehow slips and he still on the board at 10 sixers take him for sure or move up by trading thad young and picks. I didn’t want to move thad and pick together but if its for joel I would if I already secured another player with the top3 pick. I don’t know who else would touch him before 10 if he starts to slip remember noel slipped because of injury and maybe would have kept slipping if pelicans didn’t draft him ….they did only draft him because they were offered jru?

NeggedpastorTyson chandler was traded to okc for chirs wilcox and joe smith. Okc red flagged him and canceled the trade.
its funny the next year Tyson has his best season and won a ship with Dallas.Doctors can be wrong also and will have you living in fear of things that can potentially happen that never do happen.
I hate to be a team who passes on him and he surpasses expectations.I will also hate to be a team that drafts him and barley have him suit up one season the duration of his contract because of injury or just plain BUST.

tidhoParticipantListened to Rizzo’s show today. He’s apparently the only media member on the planet that knows about Embiid’s physical condition and he spent the entire hour talking about being worried about what Johnny Manziel might do with the six weeks he had free until training camp.

OhCanada-ParticipantMy sources say that sources are BS 90% of the time. The best way for me to predixt where players are going is watching team workouts, looking out for promises, and watching player workout interveiws. They usually tell if the team showed interest and how the workout went.

Thats almsot reason to take embiid right there.

SwatLakeCityParticipantThe Cavs don’t want any team to know who they are taking #1. They always keep their picks to their chest. So here’s my thinking. The Cavs know that if they red flag then every team in the league will think that the Cavs won’t take him #1 and he might end up going 2nd or 3rd and possibly as low as 6. On the other hand the Cavs also know that if they don’t red flag him then every team will know Joel Embiid goes #1. So as always the Cavs want to provide as much mystery as possible, therefore they red flag him, so other teams will now think that the Cavs will select either Parker or Wiggins #1.
In the end Embiid was smart to not get his physical done at the combine. He wanted teams to select based on his skills, potential and play not based on his health.

Scott42444ParticipantEspecially if Philly is sold on Wiggins, they could fleece the 76ers out of their #3 and another couple picks (either later in the draft or future picks) by putting it out there that they aren’t sold on Embiid. That would mean they are probably looking at Wiggins or Parker, with the Bucks taking the other guy. The 76ers would get aggressive to get "their guy" and the Cavs would be fine taking Embiid #3. I personally think that Parker is the closest to a lock going to Milwaukee out of those Top 3 guys/teams.

AwrightAwrightAwrightParticipantRizzo sounds like an idiot if you ever get the chance to listen to him. No one ever takes him seriously anyway. Cleveland’s other reports came out and said he’s perfectly healthy AFTER the idiotic Rizzo reporting. So, most likely he was only putting out another smokescreen for the Cavs.
