celtics offer a deal to detroit

I don’t understand why Boston would trade Rondo especially after his playoff performance. Stuckey has not shown the great player he is suppose to be to replace Billups.

Tayshaun prince, Richard Hamilton, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce or Ray Allen, Rajon rondo, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce. I like the current team better, stuckey has potential but I don’t think he’s enough to put this trade in full gear. Salary cap is worthless is your giving players like ben gordon 11 million dollar contracts, no defense, small 2 guards don’t make you contenders.

would be a championship team again. good trade for boston. terrible trade for detroit. I dont care if you are trying to save money. Think about the league before you do it (Memphis)

If they did, they would be smart to package their 2nd rounder, next year’s 2nd, and/or cash -or- just buy a pick & grab the most ready-to-play PG they can get. I don’t think they can trade their 1st rounder next year, but if I’m wrong about that – throw it into the mix too. If they made this trade & were able to get a Flynn, Lawson or Teague, who could come in and give them quality minutes right away (and develop as the season progressed) behind Stuckey, that would be a very dangerous team. You’d have Stuckey, Rip Hamilton, Pierce, Powe & KG with Prince, Perkins & their rookie PG off the bench (assuming they lose Davis).

I could see the logic for Detroit too. It’s an interesting attempt to rebuild on the fly – and it makes a certain amount of sense considering the number of draft picks they have this year & the money they’ll have both this year & once Allen’s contract comes off next year (or possibly mid-season if they trade him) to go after free agents. They get a very good, young All-Star caliber PG to build around in Rondo. They bring in some players this year & next year in the draft. They supplement that with a few key free-agents & that is a much younger, potential contender (assuming the picks & signees pan out) in just a few years. I think the current roster’s moment has passed & they are likely to lose Hamilton next year anyway. I don’t think they’re getting a lot for what they’re giving (although Rondo is the best long-term piece in the deal) – but if Boston added another pick or player, or even some cash, that would probably level things off enough to make it worth the risk for Detroit.

Interesting anyway – I wouldn’t mind seeing that Boston team play. They would be very, very good if they can stay healthy, IMHO anyway.

why would you do this boston?, I mean you did win the title last year, and would have won it again if not for kg’s injury(no doubt about that statement in my mind) no need to brake up a really good core. I know Allen’s contract is coming too an end soon, but to trade rondo?????????????thats just crazy, did you not see what he did this year in the playoffs?????? but hey what do i know?

I think it’s a much better trade for Boston of course. Prince could take a lot of defensive pressure off the aging Garnett, Hamilton can bring the same thing Allen did and is a few years younger. Rondo was an absolute beast in the playoffs but to be fair, Stuckey has shown he can be a beast too when he is not being selfless. Pistons should keep their guys but if they could get boozer this summer and use that extra money to get bosh or someone else next summer, that would be crazy.

Don’t forget that Rip and Prince are two of the most playoff experienced players in the league, and stuckey has done at a lot to prove himself this year. Boston was trying to get some veteran players to play with KG and PP for the next couple years, and I think this would make them a better team. For Detroit it almost made sense, so they could free up more cap room and have a/the top past first PG to lure big time FAs in 2010, but I think they were giving a little too much up, and it would pretty much devastate every Pistons fan…rip and prince have been Pistons for years and people love them here. Maybe If Boston would have added Perkins I could have seen this go, but giving up their entire core for an expiring contract and likely a top 5 PG in the league for the next 8 years or so, isn’t worth it.

Rondo has enough playoff experience.
Prince is going to back up Pierce, Rip has a lot more left than Ray Allen of course but can’t loss Rondo for Stuckey who’s not in Rondo’s class. Prince could be 6th man of the year easy on the Celtics.

What about this rumor with the TWolves sendingn Mike Miller , Randy Foye and Ryan Gomes to Boston for Ray Allen.
I like this move for Boston gets them a great bench & Pierce can play less reg. season minutes but Twolves won’t do it.

Stuckey probably wouldnt even start. If they made this deal then they would retain Marbury. Its a great deal for Boston. Detroit would have to get some picks.

Boston could do this to reload. While sacrificing at PG, this trade strengthens the rest of their lineup. It gives them a serviceable PG in Stuckey, but good depth at the wing positions with Hamilton, Pierce, and Prince splitting two roles. Prince can also back-up KG and can also be used in a point forward type role allowing him, Pierce, and Hamilton playing simultaneously with 2 bigs. Celtics become much more versatile. Assuming they can re-sign Glen Davis, that gives them enough depth with a starting lineup of Stuckey, Rip, Pierce, KG, and Perkins, and then Prince backing up at 2,3,4, and 5, Davis at 4,5, House at 1,2, and perhaps Marbury has enough left to be a decent sub at 1.

On the Pistons side, it gives them a young PG to build a new team around. Allen plays out his last year of contract and the Pistons have a lot of cap room in 2010 to compete with the Knicks for the free agent talent.

The Celtics are so willing to deal Rondo because they say he’s selfish, awful in the locker room, hard to coach & argues w/ his teammates. The same problems he had at Kentucky.

Marbury starting for the Celtics. HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Just the idea of that even him being the 6th or 7th man, god I can’t wait for him to come to NY. To see him get booed will be excellent. GO KNICKS!!!!!

We messed up with Marbury. We would’ve made the playoffs with him. He is still a top talent in the league.
