Philly have 2 lottery picks. Lets just say the impossible happens and The Sixers get the first 2 picks of the draft (Not saying it will happen but imagine that scenario), Who should the Sixers choose? Joel Embiid and Jabari Parker? Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins? Parker and Embiid? Exum and Embiid? Who would you all choose as your first 2?

It can’t happen. They own the Pelicans pick and it’s top 5 protected. If that ends up the 2nd pick, the Pelicans would get that pick… which they’d enjoy. The best you can hope is that they get the 1st and 6th pick.

Ok so if that happens, they’d have no excuse not to contend for the next 10 years.

    1. See how Nerlens Noel pans out. If he has star potential, Thad Young becomes a valuable trade chip. If he is a bust, hold onto Thad Young
    2. Hold onto MCW on his great rookie deal
    3. Draft Embiid – Would make a lethal defensive pairing with Noel and can add some offensive power to the frontcourt.
    4. Draft Parker – The combo of Noel, MCW, Embiid needs a bigtime scorer because those guys aren’t offensive minded.
    5. Trade for a volume scorer at SG like Swaggy P who can get buckets but won’t take up cap space in later years.
    6. 2015 – Get a max free-agent who can lead them to the championship in 2016-2017

Just asked a simple question and I got all of those thumbs down? I guess I shpould have just asked if your favorite team got the first 2 picks in this years draft. Who would you choose? But sheesh

As soon as I saw the thread title I knew people would jump on it as the NOP pick is top 5 protected. This information is on the link on Aran’s mock draft on the front page. I’ve made mistakes before where I’ve forgotten a player has been traded or signed to a new team and people will negative anyone for silly mistakes.

Best to just post "Sorry my mistake" and people will respect you for that. But when posting a topic always make sure you have got the facts straight to ask the question. Something like "Could Philly trade up to get 2nd pick if they landed top pick in the draft and NOP pick came within top 6 to 8" – the answer IMO would be it would be hard for them to do and I’d reason why, so would a lot of other guys on here.

I’m not saying the Pelicans pick lands in the Top 3(that would be a nightmare for Philly)

I’m saying the NO pick could be package with a Future 1st and/or the 32nd or 39th picks and CASH for another top 7 Pick(I can totally see the Lakers take a deal like this to acquire a Non Guaranteed contract and a future 1st, Kobe wants to compete not develop prospects)

Any original thought will be given a negative reaction. Welcome to Draftnet!

Im not being realistic. It was just a thought. Never mind Philly getting it or all the details on if it can happen right now. My question was if you had the top 2 picks in this draft, who would you choose. Thats where I was mainly getting at. Thought it would make for good discussion but obviously not. Just people being negative as usual. Won’t be doing this again.

IF I Were Philadelphia and had the Top 2 picks somehow, I’d have to draft Wiggins or Parker at 1, and I would seriously have a hard time NOT picking Julius Randle or Joel Embiid 2nd

I’d feel great leaving with Wiggins or Parker and Julius or Joel at 1 and 2, I don’t think there’s a wrong combo though.

Wiggins and Parker could be taken 1 and 2 and nobody would complain, a trio of MCW/Wiggins/Parker on the wing would look phenomenal on paper

Embiid and Randle would be very nasty at 1 and 2 as well giving you elite size upfront with a core of Noel/Embiid/Randle

Don’t be discouraged, you did say it was an imaginary scenario, so I’ll go with that.

I would take Embiid & Wiggins. I do think they’re both somewhat high risk, Embiid because of his back and Wiggins
because of the way he “floated” through his year at Kansas. I would take them based on upside alone. I would even mortgage some of the future to make it happen. Think about Noel, Embiid, Wiggins, MCW, Thad as a core, in 2-3
years that could be pretty dominant.

A way this could happen would be to ask what if a team like Orlando were to get 2 of the Top 3 picks.  It would require the Nuggets, Knicks, and Magic all having their ping pong balls come up.  Now wouldn’t that be an interesting senario, Rob Hennigan would be dancing in the street.  Would they pick Wiggins and Smart? But what would happen to Oladipo?  Maybe Wiggins and Parker would be a better fit.

The guy did say that it wasn’t a likely situation and it’s not impossible. They could trade etc…

Those that negged should have just not contributed and are the ones who are factually wrong by saying they can’t get a second top 5 pick.

Orlando could end up with 2 of the top 3 picks, add those to Vucevic & Olidapo (sp?) and they could have something. Philly could not include a future 1st for at least a few years since they owe Miami (has been traded to Boston) for Moultrie and Orlando (Bynum) protected first rounders. I doubt Philly could move up very far from the NO pick without including a future 1.

Orlando has been one of the luckiest teams in the lottery system so I wouldn’t say it’s impossible.  I feel like there is going to be some weird stuff happen in this lottery that will anger a lot of fans.

The Nuggets and Knicks 1st rounders both have a <1% of getting a Top 3 pick.  For them both and Orlando’s to get the Top 3 would be impossibly rare.

This year’s lottery will be a conspiracy theorists dream with the Lakers having a high pick, teams with multiple picks and with it being a deep draft. I can see there being a lot of teams testing the water for trades.

Philly have two potential top 10 picks, if the higher pick fell out of the top 3 – I wonder would they try to move up by consolidating their first rounders and Sam Hinkie is likely to do some deals with 2nd rounders.

Cleveland still have a pick or two due and have various young assets, could their new front office look to pull off a deal or two.

Orlando possibly have two top 15 picks and numerous other picks due, could they try to do something.

Chicago have two first rounders, Oklahoma have two first rounders, Phoenix have three first rounders, so deals are possible by any of those teams to move up or secure proven talent for picks.

Detroit are desperately holding onto 8th pick which could fall to Charlotte making them double handed in the first round.

The Knicks may not have picks but could Phil Jackson buy into the draft if he saw something he liked in late first, early 2nd round.

Kevin Pritchard at the Pacers is a well known draft day dealer, always watch for a deal or two from him.

     -26? Come on….

Really people get asked to use their imagination and immediatly respond by giving negative comments? I actually like the question its FUN to IMAGINE that happening. It wont happen but it does intrigue me to think of a team choosing between a combination of any two prospects in this draft.

Id say after workouts and interviews you go with the two best players available. Whether that is Parker, Wiggins, Randle, Embiid, Exum etc. The combinations all work I think you could pick any two and be able to get them in a lineup together. Right now from what Ive seen that would be Wiggins and Parker.

If Philly gets N.O.’s pick at 6-10 or so along with their OWN pick in the top 3 (probably), do you think they go with Andrew Wiggins and Aaron Gordon?  That would give them two elite athletes who can defend, slash, and run the floor, and two alley-oop targets for MCW.  Nerlens Noel would be the backstop to protect the paint.

If Philly goes with Julius Randle then I like the Kentucky Combo of Randle and James Young.  Randle would be the inside scorer and rebounder with Young being the outside shooter and slasher.  They would have an interesting starting five of MCW, Wroten, James Young, Randle, and Noel.  … then what I would do is go after DeAndre Daniels if he comes out.  I would try to package those three second round picks along with other assets to move up.  Then you could play BIG with Daniels at the 3 and Wroten off the bench, or use Daniels as a lanky stretch four off the bench.  … if not I would target Nik Stauskas (trade up), or Luke Hancock (late second round poor man’s version of Stauskas).  I actually like Alex Poythress as a cheap Thad Young replacement.  I can see him being an energy forward off the bench.

If I am Philly, I would have Wiggins and Randle at the top of my board.  Then Embiid (too much talent to pass up).  Jabari Parker would be fourth.  Parker is a volume scorer who dominates the ball, and is not a very good defender.

Wiggins/Gordon would be my top duo with Randle/Young being second.  Randle/Young might actually work out better with Randle’s tough inside skills and Young’s all-around perimeter play.  With Randle and Young you then go after rotation guys like Stauskas, DeAndre Daniels, Patric Young (best big man available perhaps), Poythress, Luke Hancock, or even Ryan Boatright with a mid-second round pick (a point guard who can play with either MCW or Wroten).

If they land Joel Embiid, I am not sure what they do with the Pelicans’ pick.  Probably just go with the Best Player Available.  With two athletic bigs in Embiid and Noel along with the floor general in MCW, you can go in a bunch of different directions, either on the wing, or a more traditional power forward (with some range).  Or, they could use the Pelicans pick to trade down and get Chicago’s picks at 16 and 19 plus Marquise Teague or something.  Then go with whoever falls between James Young, Cleanthony Early, Nik Stauskas, Zach Lavine, and those guys.  Adreaian Payne and Montrezl Harrell are a couple of big guys who could also fall into that range.

If it was possible for the 76’ers to have the 1st two picks, they should draft Parker and Embiid. 14-15 line up.

    PG MCW

    SG (a shooter)

    SF Parker

    PF. Noel

    C. Joel embiid

    6th man Tony W.

Generally (regardless of which high lottery team), I’d probably go with Wiggins and Embiid, and then I would make the rest of my team fit around them. I wouldn’t fault a team for considering Parker or Exum, but I think that Wiggins and Embiid give you the best chance of having two superstars (note that I said the best chance; I’m not saying it’s a guaranteed outcome by any means). Having two superstars practically guarantees title contention year after year. Since the relationship between superstars on a team is so crucial (see Shaq-Kobe), it’s also a bonus that they both played at Kansas, so the team drafting them has some insight into their relationship.

I don’t see why everybody doesn’t take parker and wiggins you know how hard it is to get two players one has a word class feel for the game and could be a great half court player carry a team on the offensive side then have a another player in Andrew with a higher upside and world class athleticism and produces.

You take both of them if wiggins has to play the 2 that’s ok if parker becomes more of a 4 and Andrew has to play the 3 that’s cool to its one other team in the league with a sg and sf drafted in the top 5 that’s that Miami heat .

    okc is another

teams that both went to the finals  these past few years so how can you guys take joel when  the last teams that won a title  or made it there in the last 3 years  never had a dominate center  tim Duncan plays a lot of the power forward and center. Joel will only play the center.
