Lafferty DanielParticipantSelden reported on Twitter, and Bill Self confirmed that the SG will return to Kansas next year. Will be interesting to see if Selden has chemistry with Cliff Alexander next season.

kazamParticipantLets be honest, Selden didnt exactly set the world on fire with his play this year.
I dont think his decision to return should be much of a surprise to anyone, his stock wasnt high. Yes he has athleticism. No he does not use his athleticism. He can not shoot nor does he consistently bring it defensively in order to negate his lack of a jumper.
He hit one field goal throughout the tournament. He played 18 minutes in the deciding game of the tournament. I would be returning to school as well.
Will be interesting to see his development, both physically, skill wise and especially for me, his attitude. Selden always struck me as a guy that thought he was a much better player than he was. Not sure why exactly, but definetly the read i got from him.

Land of GrantParticipantIf he gets that 3 to the high thirties the sky’s the limit for him – he’s a strong finisher, he’s a good athlete, has great defensive tools… Even played a little point guard in high school. But right now defenses just don’t respect him. He had a couple games this year where it just came together (Oklahoma) and the potential was readily apparent.
He’s one of those guys that could go either way – late first or a four years then second round, or mid lottery.

WITNESS2014ParticipantGlad to see him come back and be more of a vocal point in the offense. He is one of my favorite players this year.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantI think his problem was trying to find his place as a 4th, sometimes 5th banana. Wiggins, Embiid, Perry Ellis, and some times Tharpe or Black were above him in the pecking order on the offensive end. He’s a great athlete, he can handle the ball, attacking his basket is definitely his strong suit, and he doesn’t have any mechanical issues on his shots, I think next year, being option 1A/1B with Cliff Alexander will help him a ton. I think his POTENTIAL is tremendous. He had some big games in the Big 12, and they were all when Wiggins was playing bad. Of course he’ll have to fit in at the next level, but I think if he and Zach LaVine both come back, they can both be top 10 picks next season.

Big_C_KUParticipantNeeds to improve his athleticism, most notably his speed. This may involve his cutting a little weight to gain a little more of that speed and quickness back. Will help him defensively stay in front of opponents and offensively allow him to get around them better.
He was very streaky shooting the ball. Showed a good pull-up jumper at times and during the middle of the season he got streaky from 3. Struggled big time though down the stretch. I really thought the 1st half of the season he struggled to find his role in this offense. He deferred way too much. 2nd half of the season he shot the ball a little better until the final month of the season. I think after that stretch of solid shooting he began settling for the 3pt shot instead of driving more and either making it all the way to the rim or using the pull-up jumper.
He showed flashes of being able to do everything well but really struggled with consistency. Not the first freshman to do so but many people expected more. Will be interesting to see how much he improves. If he really plays well he can be a solid 1st round selection, possibly even late lottery.

HaleParticipantIt’s pretty clear people aen’t very aware of Selden if they are negging you. Everything you said here is 100% true. The only difference in opinion we have is I think he could go a little higher than you think he will next year (with a great season). He will be an interesting player to watch next year and KU is going to be really fun again.

jaysmith1987ParticipantThe key word with him is oppurtunity. If Bill Self allows him to be his lead player next year I think he blows up and goes in the lottery. The problem with him this year is he played with the two top prospects in this years draft. It is hard to get the ball and dominate when your fourth in the pecking order. Another problem with him is he plays in a system that is not relatively friendly to two guards. I know people think Ben Mcelmore but he played more at the 3. Next year being a sophomore on a fairly young team I think he will get the chance to show his potential and cement his status in the lottery.

HomerKangParticipantI also think it would serve him better to return to school. I think next year, he would have a better chance to shine since he won’t be overshadowed by Wiggins and Embiid anymore. Hopefully, he’ll get the chance to be "the man" for KU, and be a top 10 pick in 2015.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantBased on his upside and potential,he would’ve been drafted in the 20s this summer…
As a Heat fan i would’ve love if they had selected him to study under Wade and eventually become his replacement in a few years..But another year of seasoning he can play himself into All American status and into the lottery..Seldon is versatile offensive player, with a nba body, has a great shooting form, can create plays and a great finisher…

XYRYXParticipantGood decision to me.
He needs to play with more confidence and with another year under his belt and with him in a more meaningful role he should do pretty fine. Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets somewhere to Hoods numbers minus the rebounding.
