knicksfan7ParticipantOkay in every Mock Draft Blake Griffin is #1 to the Clippers. Well say something comes up in these next 5 days about Griffin, and the Clippers don’t draft him. There has to be a #1 pick, Who is the 2nd best player in the draft. I mean in 2004 every1 was expecting Okafor to go to Orlando at #1, and boom it’s Howard, great pick by Orlando.
Well I just want to hear what everyone has to say.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/19/2009 - 6:37pm #168873
DeRozanfan11I don’t think that they should pick Griffin myself, but he is the best player in the draft. If something happened to Griffin like a major injury or something I think that the Clippers would take Ricky Rubio.

butidonthavemoneyLike if Blake Griffen’s legs get mauled by a mountain lion?
Ricky Rubio would probably go first.

knicksfan7ParticipantProps to your Magic in 2004, and this past season sorry about not winning finals. I haven’t heard anything or seen/read any rumors. I just wanted to know what others thought or if they thought anything cause yeah blake is #1 pick and no1 had any 2nd thoughts.

king_til_i_die23ParticipantIf the clips passed on griffin for any reason (injury or something) they would go with ricky rubio. can you name their current point gaurd?
I had to look it up, Mike Taylor and Fred Jones, they split time
Jones – 28.8 min, 7.3 ppg, 3.6 apg, 2.4 rpg, fg% 40
Taylor – 15.1 min, 5.7 ppg, 2.1 apg, 1.7 rpg, fg% 41they are the only team i think that is worse at the PG position than sacramento. I’m a kings fan an trust me, thats hard to do

knicksfan7ParticipantBaron Davis and Eric Gordon were the Point Guards. and they were on hte court together a lot so they split.

king_til_i_die23ParticipantI’m sorry, I thought they swung Davis to a PG/SG combo. what a disappointing sign

knicksfan7ParticipantI agree it was a disappointing sign, and with the core they had. I was excited for them to be an exciting team. I hope Baron Davis gets traded to a contender he’s such a fun player to watch. He made the NBA so exciting when the warriors beat dallas 8 over 1 baby.

mikeyvthedonParticipantBut not in this draft. The possibilities would be mainly Rubio due to the fact that many see him as a transcendent talent at the point and Thabeet due to his combination of size and potential. While many expected Okafor to go #1, Howard was not exactly that much of a risk and had tools that just dwarfed those of Okafor. Plus, if you think Dwight Howard is a poor shooter, believe me, Okafor has nothing on him, not to mention he was shorter, older and much less athletic (which is possible with Dwight Howard, as you can still be a good athlete). Olowakandi is another surprise #1 that comes to mind, you could even say Kwame was a surprise at #1, as he was not rated ahead of a couple other guys in the draft from his HS class. With this year, Griffin is the safe and smart pick. Honestly, it would be crazy to draft someone else because nobody else really is believed to have a ceiling surpassing Griffin, which is something that you could not say about those other surprise #1 picks, with also the fact that they were all big men. Griffin is big, athletic, produced against top talent and has a great attitude, choosing anyone else at 1 would be a gamble I do not think anyone would be willing to take.
