Memphisboy14ParticipantWho do you think are guys in the NBA right now that will be Hall of Famers? Also include guys who have recently retired. If I didn’t pick some great players please remind me I probably forgot. I didn’t include Kevin Durant because I wanted to see how his career plays out a bit more I do think that at this rate he is definitely gonna be a Hall of Famer and possibly the greatest scorer of all time.

I know that his contract is horrible but what’s he supposed to do say no to the money that was offered him. Don’t get mad at him blame the Atlanta Hawks for even offering it to him. Despite that unlike guys like Rashard Lewis, Amar’e Stoudemire, Gilbert Arenas, Javale McGee at least he has still been an effective player in his career. They offered him that contract when he was starting to get older. He definitely didn’t deserve that All-Star spot this year though I will agree with that. Also I think that he is one of the players that made the Atlanta Hawks franchise relavant again.

I don’t mean any disrespect to him he’s never been a player I’ve been fond of but I do respect his status in the NBA as a future Hall of Famer. But on the same token in the 9 seasons he played for Boston before K.G. and Ray Allen got there he led the Celtics to 6 losing seasons 2 first round 2 exits a 2nd round exit and the Conference Finals. Nobody thinks he ever been as good as the guys you mentioned. I don’t think he will ever make it though, those 7 All Star Games and 2 All NBA selections will help his case but I think he will fall into the same category as Mitch Richmond who is still struggling to get in. If he does make it, it will be similar to how Chris Mullin struggled to get in.

Multiple NBA rings, multiple all NBA team recipient, ROY, World Title and MVP with Spain an a career full of solid stats. He may not be the biggest star in the league but that is a HOF resume.

HitsterParticipantWe have had this debate numerous times but if you want someone not mentioned I’ll throw in Antwan Jamison as worthy as some of the probables mentioned above. He’s in the 20,000 point club as the 39th member, 26 of those guys are already in the HOF. Of those who have retired and are waiting to qualify Shaq and AI are locks. Of those still playing Kobe, Dirk, KG, Tim Duncan and LeBron are locks I think we all agree. PP and Ray Allen are very likely with Vince Carter maybe just a bit behind them.
So we could well have 36 guys in the 20,000 point club out of 39 as HOF’s so someone like Jamison who would never be voted in immediately he became eligible could well get in in due course.
It will be interesting to see if we have one year when several likely contenders all become eligible which of them will get in first.

I think that Ray Allen would’ve made it regardless since he beat the 3pt record. I think that those 2 championships also left no doubts in anyone’s minds that he should get in.
Vince Carter I think has been very underappreciated in his career. Unlike alot of other superstars from that era who burned out he’s one of the few that are still left and playing at a pretty good level today. He changed his style of play and has become a much better teammate since his time in Toronto which people still burn him for today. He’s still in the NBA playing well even though I think he will probably retire in the next year or 2. I do think that if he gets in you HAVE to put Tracy McGrady in the Hall of Fame too. It may take him a few tries but I do think that he gets in off the strength of his dunks.
As far as Antawn Jamison goes I think that he has had a very good career thus far in the NBA. I don’t think he makes it though to be honest. I think that if he had a bit more individual and team success he would have a case but I don’t think that he gets in though. Much like Joe Johnson and Shawn Marion.

HitsterParticipantWe have had this debate numerous times but if you want someone not mentioned I’ll throw in Antwan Jamison as worthy as some of the probables mentioned above. He’s in the 20,000 point club as the 39th member, 26 of those guys are already in the HOF. Of those who have retired and are waiting to qualify Shaq and AI are locks. Of those still playing Kobe, Dirk, KG, Tim Duncan and LeBron are locks I think we all agree. PP and Ray Allen are very likely with Vince Carter maybe just a bit behind them.
So we could well have 36 guys in the 20,000 point club out of 39 as HOF’s so someone like Jamison who would never be voted in immediately he became eligible could well get in in due course.
It will be interesting to see if we have one year when several likely contenders all become eligible which of them will get in first.
