I think this is a bad call right here on the new mock. Cauley Stein will have a long career in the NBA. He is just starting to play basketball and he is already a game changer on defense. He is hesitant in the post but when he does pull off moves in the low he does them with a nice flow, not stiff. He will take a little time to develop but under the right circumstances and coaching he will be a good back up big at the least while packing a punch of potential.

I would have to do a full board see where i would rank him right now, but he is still at the least top 20 to me.

I like Brown. He’s an elite level athlete, who can really D up, a solid all around scorer, and has grown to be a pretty solid long range shooter. I think WCS has a higher ceiling, but I also think he has a lower floor.

Brown could be a player like Avery Bradley, and WCS could be a player like Birdman. Draft stock is subjective, but I’m by no means freaked out by this ranking. I’ve cooled on WCS this year, and late last year, honestly, when he didn’t seem to up his game much at all when Noel went down, and Brown just keeps on playing at a high level, and improving his long range shot and ball handling.

after watching texas destroy osu yesterday, i don’t think brown can be considered a combo guard.  he struggled getting them into their sets on offense and couldn’t seem to keep felix from getting wide open 3’s or taylor from getting in the lane.  his jumpshot is not very good either.  i think of him as a very late first, early second.

cauley-stein should be a mid to late first rounder.  it’s hard to find that kind of length/athleticism combo even if he doesn’t have a polished offensive skill set.  honestly, neither did noel and he went top 10 last year.  i can’t imagine him falling past 20.  a lot of teams with 2 picks should think about using 1 of them on this guy.

Brown will be able to contribute in the league from day one while WCS will take some time and development so it depends on what state the team drafting is currently in.

I really like brown top tier athlete with a decent stroke and good upside..I agree that he will be able to contribute day one in the NBA but at the 2 spot he has enough length and strength to defend NBA shooting guards atleast off the bench..he’s really an avery bradley clone but WCS has more upside and will have the longer NBA career so I think he should much higher in the mocks

WCS is raw offensively, but he runs the floor like a guard, shot blocking skills, his ability to defend on the perimeter and guard every position from point guard to center is invaluable…I doubt he’ll get out of the top 20…Teams drafting in the late part of the lottery like Cleveland & Minnesota could use a rim protector like Cauley-Stein….

There are some holes in Brown’s game, questions about his size and he has trouble creating his own shots..He seems like late 1st or an early 2nd rounder to me….

       this.

not to mention the lack of Centers in this draft, he’ll be the 2nd one selected after Embiid who will be selected in the top 3.

WCS very versatile on the defensive end. he has great lateral movement and good length, helps defend Guards and block/contest shots. he’s a true 7 footer and could be very good in the pick n roll if he keeps developing and has a good PG.

his one flaw is that he doesnt have any offensive moves, but he brings other things to the table,he’s worthy of a 1st round selection. wont drop out of the teens.

Brown reminds me of another former Oklahoma State player coming out of college in Tony Allen. Both slightly undersized and great defenders but not great shooters. I think people forget just how athletic Allen was coming out of college.

I actually think Brown can become a better shooter and he has the athleticism to become a similar perimeter stopper. Tony Allen has enjoyed a very solid NBA career because he understands his role on the court. If Brown can do the same I think he has a productive career infront of him.
