Should the rockets trade Parsons for a defensive minded wing?

Chandler Parsons makes less than a million dollars for the next two seasons. Getting a player of his quality at that price tag is nearly unheard of, if Coach McHale is that concerened he can play Brewer more and Parsons less, but IMO the Rockets are a better team if Chandler Parsons is on the floor. They need someone at the 3 spot to stretch the floor, their PF and C can’t shoot outside of 5 feet, adding ANOTHER defender or starting Brewer would just clog the lane and render Harden ineffective on the drive.

Asik is just miserable out there with Dwight. Can’t blame him. Find a 3 and D stretch four. That is where I would go.

You can’t talk about poor defense on the Rockets last night without mentioning James Harden. J.J. Redick looked like he was back at Duke while being defended by Harden.

has Manu Ginobili-ish type of game,and i think that he isnt that bad defender,you cannot judge that of last nights game,because that was some offensive outburst last night.Ofc you gonna look bad when somebody scores 137 on you

Coaches like Parsons becuz he does things that dont show up in the boxscore..But helps a team win…I think it’ll be easier to get a veteran defensive wing like Deshawn Stevenson or Bogans than finding another Parsons…

Parsons isn’t the issue. Jeremy Lin is the one that got TORCHED by Chris Paul. Once Beverley is back in the lineup that should help the Rockets big time.

I think it’d funny that Harden was voted best sg in the l. He man’s d is terrible. Can’t blame the terrible d on parson, defense should be lead by example starting with the stars. Man the standard for great sg’ s has gone down.

Parson is like the Russell Wilson on the NBA with that Salary a complete steal, if this was MLB with arbitration he would have easily been paid 10mil + for his 15ppg, high FG% non box score related production (rudeboy) etc.making less than a million and I believe will still be under contract another year they will not find anyone to match that at that price.
LIN and HARDEN are the worst defensive back corut in the league maybe Monta n Jose but I can’t think of many others.

Dwight and Asik should be able to defend the rim at an elite level especially on the court together. The perimeter guys just need to focus on getting out on shooters and force them to drive at the big guys. Parsons is an underrated athlete so I think he is fine defending most 3’s in the league.

They already added Beverly to the starting line-up (although he is hurt now) as a perimeter defensive upgrade over Lin so I don’t think they should make another move to make them even more defensively orientated.

You’re really underrating Parson’s defense. Sure, it’s not amazing, but I think he’s a little above average on that side of the floor. Parsons real value is in his all around ability from the 3 spot and his shooting. Combine those with having the best contract in the league at the moment, and I think trading Parsons is the last thing they should do right now.

Its not Parsons. His defense is actually pretty good. He’s long and very active on defense. There no reason on earth you trade away a guy like him who you are getting for a HUGE BARGAIN.
From watching the game last night, James Harden’s effort on D was just terrible, everyone he guarded scored on him. After JJ was cooking him, he switched to Dudley and all of sudden Dudley started getting open 3’s.
Also about Omer Asik! He has looked beyond terrible to me. His body language and everything is just bad. He looks tired all the time and just looks out of sync. If they make a trade, he will be the one to go. But I think they are going to try and force the twin tower thing to work for a while before they decide to give him up. I honestly would keep him, but a fire has to be lit under him.
