Half of the people on here might not have been on here a couple of years ago but back the. There were a couple of posters who swore Anthony Randolph was going to end up a All star or at least a very good starter

There were also some who though Darko just needed another team , then another team, then yet another team

And of course Many watched Perry Jones you tube videos and swore up and down that he would be the next TMac and couple play pg. Even after his freshman year of a below average jumper and handles and a very questionable motor

And McGee. Many on here fell in love with how athletic he was and how he out played euro and D league big men in the NBA summer league and predicted that he would become one of the best 1,2 punches with John Wall

With every last player I told them they would not end up being close to as good as some though just because they were either athletic, tall and had some wing game or you tube video.

I’m in this group as well when it comes to James Harden. I predicted he would become a bust for where he was drafted

Is there a point here… or a question?

Other than being an “I was right, good for me” post…

I had high hopes for Thadd, I thought I would become one of the best scorers and triple jumpers in the league, but in an instant, turned into a power forward, and stop jump for three..

I thought it would end up to be a 17-10 in the league, but apparently not enough improvement.. Aminu

was convinced that dominate the league, but as much as I do not like, he never will All-Star.. Ed Davis

Had one of the biggest Hype i come to see, I has many dozens of articles, many called him the next dominant center and the truth is that in college it seemed, had an unreal average blocks, but the reality is struggling to find NBA team.. Hassan Whiteside

The familiar case of the player with one of the highest hype the story, everyone believed they would fight with lebron being the best in the league, but the reality is that it is just a good player who this year may be All -Star.. O.J Mayo

It had everything to succeed in their first game of the Summer League scored 40 points, and in college was compared with the best player formed there, the reality is that it fell into a bad team and failed to develop.. Donte Greene

I was in love with this player, I thought I had it all to be an all in one, defended very well, was very game for others, and even was an excellent rebounder for outside (in one of her first matches took 18 rebounds),
after its first season was injured for the entire year and it was never the same.. Corey Brewer

I thought Whiteside could be at worst a Deandre Jordan type player with the right amount of time and development. I still don’t get how he didn’t pan out.

I think many people make mistakes on talent because it is hard to gauge the mental capacity and drive of some players and sometimes players get drafted by the wrong team.

To be fair I believe that was around a year before his draft.

The only one of those guys I ever bit on was Perry Jones. It became pretty clear that he wasn’t going to be the stud I hoped watching his sophomore year. I’ve been here awhile and I don’t think McGee had much hype and summer league is the only reason people ever cared about Anthony Randolph. Tyreke is really the only one listed who seems to have an irrational following.

    @QJH

Well honestly, no one can predict anything. Everyone on this forum would be wrong is Andrew Wiggins somehow turns out to be a bust. Alot of it is mental too. Another guy is Michael Beasley… I am pretty sure everyone on here expected him to be a perennial allstar and if not atleast a borderline allstat. Now hes a bench warmer playing on a minimum deal. My point is, I am sure you have been wrong too buddy.

This topic reminded me, but I think it is HILARIOUS that NBA2K13, (I Haven’t gotten 14 yet, because I don’t know if I am going to get Next Gen or not but that’s a totally different story) a game that came out 4 draft classes after Randolph still give him such a high potential. I am in my 5th season of MyPlayer, and I believe he hovering around 91. SMH

All of these players are great examples that player intangibles determine the likelihood of them reaching or coming close to their potential.

You can stay on a bandwagon hoping that a dumb player will eventually get it, but the chances are that he will likely remain dumb. The key for not falling for that is recognizing a dumb player when you see one.

Randolph did show great potential at times when he got the minutes, unfortunately he just never seemed to be able to stay on the court and was constantly sent from team to team

So you predicted every single last one of those players to fail?

    I doubt it.

Weren’t you the one that SWORE Michael Beasley would be a superstar?

C’mon bro, no need to call out when you’ve made the same mistake.
