Michael.S.ParticipantPOSITIVE— 1.They can now shut down or contain Howard ( wont have to double him ,but can )
2.Cavs will have a low post presence on offense that teams migh have to double
3.they will have a defensive pesence down low
4.thy would be able to compete with any front courtNEGATIVE—1.will have a logjam down low with minutes, illgauskas would have to go to bench
2.one of lebrons bread and butter plays the pick n pop with illgauskas would stop until he gets in the game
3.if illgauskas is on the bench they cant stretch the floor and get the defensive bigman out the paint
4.will Shaq take touches away from lebronANY MORE?

(LEWIS,TURK,OR HOWARD)0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 7:07am #164733

gatorheelsParticipant#1 POSITIVE- Illgauskas will be on the BENCH. Big Z would have trouble guarding Madsen. Shaq is a huge upgrade especially on the defensive end.

MuggsyParticipantIt would be a disgrace for Shaq to have to play on the NBA’s most overrated team. Shaq wants to win another champ or two before he’s out, Cav’s have proven time and again they can get close but they will always fail. The team has too many holes.
But on a personal note, Shaq was my favorite player growing up, and Cavs have always been one of the teams I never really cared for, especially the Cavs of today. If I seen O’Neal on the back of a Cavs uniform I’d be kind of disgusted.
Hey Cleveland, don’t ruin the rest of Shaq’s brilliant career, back off thanks.

gatorheelsParticipantThe Cavs should let Varejo go. With the addition of Shaq the Cavs should still have enough cash to sign another good free agent. I think they should sign Big Baby Davis. With the 30th pick in the draft they should select a player that can play SG or SF that has size and that can contribute immediately.
Mo Williams
Delonte West
LeBron
Big Baby

MuggsyParticipantThe reality is, Shaq would take the ball away from LeBron on a few posessions. Though this would make them a better team, it would make LeBron cry and ask to be traded, I bet he wouldn’t even shake Shaqs hand after a win.
“In tonights game Shaq scored 26 pts. LeBron was close behind with 24 pts. They got the win but LeBron walked off the court and refused to talk to any of his teammates ever again.”
I can see it now!

HaleParticipantYou know nothing about basketball, you are just a LeBron hater. If you knew anything about LeBron, you would know he is all about the team and is an extremely unselfish player who cares a lot about winning. Stop using a bias as a terrible argument.

D7H7NParticipantEh, they’re better off getting Carlos Boozer than Shaq
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 7:45am #164781

gatorheelsParticipantEh, they’re better off getting Shaq & Glen Davis instead of just Boozer.
LeBron could care less if he gets a few less shots per game with Shaq on the team. Cavs would finally have someone who can halfway match up against Howard and that is all that matters.

MuggsyParticipantWe’ve yet to see LeBron play with a legit All-Star team member, and don’t say Mo Williams, you know what I mean. He’s never been forced to give up points to a teammate, so you can’t say he could care less, we’ve yet to see this happen.

MuggsyParticipantI know a vast amount about basketball. He’s a great player, one of the best there ever will be. I just have no respect for him as a person, he’s phony, but so are a lot of the players in the league. I just simply don’t want to see Shaq go out on a team like that.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 7:48am #164786

gatorheelsParticipantWhy do you have no respect for LeBron as a person? You act like you really know him. King James is not phony.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 7:52am #164790

HaleParticipantYeah really, you say he doesn’t like being outscored when he is as willing of a passer as any in the NBA, you say they win and he storms off the court, when winning is all he cares about. You just hate the guy for leaving the court in Orlando because he was so upset that he LOST. You seriously have no argument. A team like what? One that got to the Conference finals with 1 player? Add Shaq and they win a title? I guess you really don’t like Shaq that much after all.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 7:55am #164793

HaleParticipantYou are making such a stupid assumption. LeBron plays to win, not for stats. Enough said.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 8:04am #164817

MuggsyParticipantI’m sorry I didn’t jump on his bandwagon with you. I’m entitled to my own opinions on him as a person. As a player I already said he’s great. A few assists is quite a bit different than sharing the team with another force. But all in all your defense is unnecessary, my comments were based on not wanting to see Shaq in Cleveland, I could care less about LeBron or not. LeBron is not the reason I don’t nor ever have liked the Cavs.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 8:05am #164820

HaleParticipantThat is a much better explanation. Thank you.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 8:07am #164822

gatorheelsParticipantYou should want to see Shaq in Cleveland if you know whats best for him. If you ever want to see Shaq win another Ring then you should want him to go to Cleveland.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 8:16am #164829

MuggsyParticipantWhat I’d really like to see is Shaq back on the Lakers, but with Bynum & Gasol, that isn’t going to happen. Another dream option would be Shaq on the Spurs. Shaq/Duncan/Bowen/Ginobili/Parker I don’t see how that doesn’t have Championship written all over it.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 8:53am #164862

bones1023ParticipantShaq would turn out to be a good courtmate to Lebron, we all know damn well that Shaq brings out the best in wing players (not that lebron needs any help)… but personally I would rather not see Shaq go to the cavs, i like the possibility of boozer coming over or maybe CB4, but it would just be disgusting to see shaq and ilgauskus on the court at the same time, on the same team…. the other team would have a feast with pick and rolls
Either way, no matter what goes down, Lebron missed his shot at a title with the cavs this past year… maybe if lebron and bosh head over to join stephen curry with the knicks in 2010, thats when lebron will have a chance at a ring!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 9:13am #164899
NYK2010ParticipantThey will lose to the Celtics still, Perkins can match up against Shaq. No one on the Cavs can stop KG when healthy, Allen,Rondo much better than Mo & Delonte. The Magic will still beat the Cavs esp. with a healthy Nelson, Wally Scz is done he had a good run. Who’s on the Cavs bench Gibson and Hickson the team needs a lot of help to reach the Conf. Finals again. Shaq will go back to getting hurt and he doesn’t play in back to back games much Cavs need to get younger and athletic in the front court.
This trade is just a hot rumor will die down and if it happens will be near the trade deadline.
I agree with bones except I don’t want Curry on the Knicks rather have a true pg not one that can only shoot. Bosh might end up deciding the East best team w/free agency next year does he go play with LeBron, Wade or Derrick Rose.0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 9:27am #164920

HaleParticipantDude the Celtics are going to blow next year, they are way too old do make any kind of noise next year.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 9:34am #164926
shipargosParticipantEveryone talks about Shaq like he is the old superstar, the fact is that i love shaqs game but i can see it decaying more and more, he is old, he can no longer get more than 30 minutes a night, or he migh not either.
Its tough, but the Diesel is not the same, he is not a great defensive force anymore, altough an upgrade for Big Z in that end,
I dont see shaq putting 24-26 points a night, he could put 15 and 8 rebs in average, and you could be happy.
Shaq was a great center, a unique skillset down low and a great unique nearly superhuman strenght, he can still play but he is not helping any team right now in terms of salary/performance ratio.0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 1:26pm #165155

HaleParticipantThe Cavs don’t need the old Shaq, 15-18 and 7-10 would make them an infinitely better team.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 1:37pm #165168
j1232eParticipantShaq is getting old, last year he didn;’t even play in back to back games. But he was clev needs to compete in the east. He is much beter than big z. and can bang with howard.
