valentineOKC is in perfect position to draft Lorenzo Brown and CJ leslie with their 28th and 32nd pick.
A lot people is gonna hate the idea but I know there are some who would like it.
I think with these 2, and Steven Adams at 12, OKC should have a good draft.0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/26/2013 - 10:39am #806169

ThunderHog35ParticipantMore likely the starting lineup for the Tulsa 66ers…..
But I wouldn’t complain either way as long as you don’t forget about Reggie Jackson

fastdanParticipantThey are going for a ring, and you think they are going to field a bench of 3 rookies and 2 guys who’ve played a combined 61 NBA games, almost all of which was just fourth quarter garbage time? Gimme a break.

ThunderHog35ParticipantWhy would they need CJ Leslie, especially with Durant and Jones on the roster? Bullock or Snell would be a better pick. Brown wouldn’t be bad but I would hope they take a long look at Canaan if he’s there.
Btw, expect one of the 1st rounders to be an international that doesn’t need to be on the roster next season. They’re watching the cap closely.

XYRYXParticipantI completely agree. I really like them drafting Snell. They need two way players especially at the wing. Martin and Sefolosha are both good but you always have to chose offense or defense. Lamb has the tools to be both but Snell could play the 2 and 3 and is effective on both ends.
Picking Leslie is more of a 2K pick and not helpful competing for a title. I see them doing a trade as well. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them trade some of their picks to get Zeller, Olynik too.
Presti really has a great position to fill some needs tomorrow and I have faith in him to make good moves!

CynthiaParticipantNo thanks, I don’t want either, nor are either a good fit.
As far as a stash player in first round any other year I’d say yes for sure, but this year we only have 9 guaranteed contracts. Kevin Martin is all but gone, Fisher will not be resigned, Brewer more than likely will not be resigned. Then we have Thabeet, Orton, & Liggins on non-guaranteed contracts. I can see keeping Liggins but the other two will probably be dropped, especially Orton. So we actually have room to sign all 3 draft picks, there’s no need to get a stasher because we need to fill out the roster regardless. The only expensive pick will be #12 and the other two will be cheap, especially considering 12 million off the books when K-Mart leaves.

fastdanParticipantAs much as everyone likes to call him a massive bust, and he is, he was a decent backup C for them last year. I can’t imagine them cutting a decent backup who will make league minimum.
0- Posted on: Wed, 06/26/2013 - 1:04pm #806333

CynthiaParticipantYes he was decent, but the reason he will most likely be cut is OKC can get a Center with any of their 3 picks in this draft. So have Perkins, Collison, sometimes Ibaka, and the Rookie getting minutes at Center kind of leaves Thabeet the odd man out.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 3:02am #806796

ThunderHog35ParticipantThey have to keep Thabeet, do you really think any of these player in the draft will be able to step in and play 10-15 minutes a night? I wouldn’t trust any of them that much, I don’t know if i’d trust them even in spot minutes. I think Orton will mostly likely be gone but kept around on the 66ers.
As for the draft picks they will likely spend most of their time in Tulsa as well, like all those that have gone before them. Aldrich, Jackson, Jones, Lamb….
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/27/2013 - 4:33am #806839

CynthiaParticipantYes I’d trust just about any center in the first round range to play 10-15 minutes over Thabeet. Thabeet isn’t bad, but he’s not good either, he’s young but has already pretty much plateaued, at least Zeller, Adams, Olynyk, Nogueira, etc. have upside, Thabeet does not. Also if you seriously think Thabeet is better than any of those guys I just mentioned you’re crazy. Heck I’d even take Dieng or a 2nd round flier on Jeff Withey and play them over Thabeet.
Thabeet is good for a block or two a game, but for being 7’3 he doesn’t rebound and can’t score, come on now.

Chilbert arenasParticipantAnyone who thinks CJ Leslie is a small forward must not have watched him in college.
0- Posted on: Wed, 06/26/2013 - 11:43am #806206

Velvet HoopParticipantBut that is really because you can get away with being a 6’9 200 lb. PF in college. In the NBA, not so much. In the interview I saw him give at the combine he talked about being able to play the 3 but not really showcasing those abilities at State because of what they needed from him down low. He will either get pushed around a lot, or not play if he is going to try to play PF in the league. While he isn’t a SF either, transitioning to the 3 may be the smartest long term play for him. His body type doesn’t suggest he will be able to put on much more weight.

Velvet HoopParticipantbut don’t see where he would fit with OKC. Lamb and Thabo will be the 2’s with Russ and Reggie running the 1. Unless they are thinking of using him as a 3rd pg I think he would be better off going somewhere else. Besides, OKC could get Wolters or Canaan who I would rather have as a 3rd pg. CJ Leslie is a poor man’s PJ3 who is a homeless man’s KD. No thanks on him.

SiggyParticipantThey’re in a position to compete now. This is their window. They should be targeting players who can come in and fill roles. That doesn’t describe CJ Leslie at all. If they’re looking for a back up point, which IDK why they would since they have Jackson, they should be targeting one who can shoot. That’s not Lorenzo Brown.
They should be looking to package their picks anyways. No contending team needs 3 rookies to go along with their rookies from last yr who got limited action.

Chilbert arenasParticipantSo you’re saying you can’t get away with being 6’9 power forward in he NBA? Tell that to Barkely, or even Kenyon Martin, Udonis Haslem, David West, Blake Griffin (6’8.5wout shoes). Remember when Derrick Williams said he could play the 3 in predraft interviews? Yeah that worked out well. If Leslie can’t play the PF at the next level how do you think Bennett is going to do?
0- Posted on: Wed, 06/26/2013 - 12:01pm #806237
SiggyParticipantHe was probably focusing on the 200 lb aspect more than the 6’9 one. Leslie will get man-handled as a PF.

The 6’9 part is not an issue. The 200 lbs. is.
I’m not saying I don’t like his game. I wish he would be a little more consistent with his motor, effort, intensity – whatever you want to call it, but the man has talent. And he scores in a variety of ways. But to me he never really demonstated the ability to put the ball on the floor and create. His game doesn’t say SF to me, it says PF and I think that he is too thin to guard that position in the NBA.

XYRYXParticipantI just read on Hoopshype that the Thunder might actually try to trade into the top 5 to draft Alex Len. Don’t know if this is true but if they do they still have the chance to take Zeller if Len is gone at 5.
The following players are untuchable regarding to hoopshype: Untouchables: Westbrook, Durant, Ibaka, Jackson and Lamb.
Presti has a track record of beeing agressive on draft day and 3 picks along with PJ3 on the bench is more than enough talent to wait for. I hope they get either Zeller or Len. Darkhorses might be Oladipo or Adams or Olynyk but both not top 5.

Sewok15ParticipantWe know the Thunder are in position to win now but from the moves they have already made (trading James Harden) it looks like they are aiming to be very good for a long time instead of great for a shorter time. They have already made moves bringing in young guys with high ceilings so I wouldn’t be surprised to see them do more of the same.
They could be safe and draft a guy who can fill a role like Mason Plumlee or Dieng but I think when you already have such a quality roster these guys don’t make a huge difference..why not try to hit a home run?

JNixonParticipantLorenzo Brown for OKC would be cool for the long term IMO. He’s more of a PG than Reggie Jackson will ever be, and he plays well with the kind of athletes OKC has. Brown flourishes in a fast paced, athletic style game and he will be able to defend either guard spot. Just has to compete harder defensively. Even though Jackson isnt quite good enough as a shooter and Brown isnt quite there yet as an overall defender for this to consistently work, Brown and Jackson could be on the court at the same time because Brown has the ability to run an offense and the size to defend SG’s. Its a thing that would take time and experience, but Brown could be a good fit in OKC.
Leslie on the other hand, doesnt really do anything Perry Jones cant do and Jones was nailed to the bench last season.
