KHAM83ParticipantCan’t blame Portland or Minnesota for rejecting the Cavs recent offers. Aldridge and Love are great big men and the #1 ina weak Draft, plus anyone outside of Irving will get you these guys.

TyroberParticipantI love Kevin Love as a player but if the Cavs called and offered that deal I would have to take it. Thompson, waiters, and the #1 pick is crazy value. Love has been hurt a lot and can leave in two years. That is good cheap talent on rookie contracts. They love oladipo and that gives the wolves a core of Rubio, waiters, oladipo, ak47, Thompson, pek, and Williams plus another solid player at 9? So maybe add zellerto that group? Crazy young stacked team.. That is a crazy offer by the Cavs if true and I honestly have a hard time believing they could give that much up for Love. As good as Love is its hard to give your whole future up.

AmiableBaller34ParticipantI would take that trade in a heart beat. Love just rubs me the wrong way, and I don’t like the way he carries himself with the media. I feel like he doesn’t want to be in Minny, and if the Wolves don’t impress this year they might lose him any way. Getting THREE rotation players is a nice place to start, and would give them the cap space to sign Pek.
pg- Rubio- Shved
sg- Waiters
sf- Kirilenko – Chase
pf- Williams- Thompson
c- PekThat team is young and looks GOOD, and that’s not even considering the first overall pick. They could add either Noel or Len and have a great big man rotation, or they could draft a player like Porter or McLemore to help sure up their perimeter rotation. If I was the Wolves I would def. give this trade a second thought.

phila9012ParticipantI would do it too if I was the timberwolves. They would have 2 top 10 picks and if you include them on the team
PG rubio-shved
SG KCP- waiters(waiters would be a really good sixth man)
SF Porter (since budinger and kirilenko are free agents)
PF derrick williams (can play his natural position) Thompson (great 3rd bigman off the bench)
C Pekovic ( maybe draft a guy like jeff withy or dieng with the 26th pick)That is a great young core who can develop with each other. Rubio would be get at running the team now that he has some scorers.

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantI get the feeling that people are really undervaluing Love. It’s true he’s never been in a playoff series. But look at the godawful supporting casts he’s been surrounded by…the only other legit players he’s played with are Pek and Rubio (both were knocked out by injuries), and AK for a little bit. What else has he had…the stunning talents of Jonny Flynn, Darko, Martell Webster, Wes Johnson, Luke Ridnour, Ryan Hollins…I could go on. Love is something only 4 other players in the NBA can claim at the moment: the best player in their position. Love is the best pure PF in the NBA right now, and the only fair value in return for him would be someone close to the best at their position. In other words, the only way the Wolves take a look at the Cavs is if Irving is involved in the deal. Waiters is not that good- he’s horribly inefficient, and can’t/doesn’t really want to defend; Thompson is OK, but won’t be nearly as good as Love is; and there’s no guarantee the #1 pick will be as good a value as they think it is this year, in arguably the weakest draft (at the top) in the last decade or so.
This would be acceptable in 2K. But real life? Hell no!

AmiableBaller34ParticipantHow can you chastise Waiters for being inefficient and a poor defender when Love shot 35% this year and 45% for his career? And lets no even bring up Loves defense, or lack there of. Waiters was a rookie who showed a lot of promise, and TT has come a long way in his development. With two top ten picks that also gives them a lot of wiggle room to build their roster or make a trade. GM’s should be salivating at that kind of flexibility.

HaleParticipantIrving has twice the value Love does. No way in a million years he’d be part of the trade. Waiters/Thompson and the #1 overall pick isn’t a horrible trade at all.

Cavaliers420ParticipantI don’t even believe this rumor. Hell I don’t believe half the rumors being posted, tons of them are just smoke screens created by agents/GM’s, to put it easily, heres how DA put it and I agree with him. Just wait for the draft!! Also, this is just my opinion but I don’t even like the sound of that trade, Dion is a valuable core piece of our team and we need him for the future.

” Every year, my bosses at NBA.com ask me when I’m going to submit a mock Draft. I try to delay them as much as possible. I mention the grout work that needs completing in the bathroom. There are the commemorative ALF stamps that I want to buy at the Post Office. The dentist insists she needs to see me, pronto, for some root canal work.
Eventually, though, I run out of excuses. The fact that a mock Draft — any mock Draft — is a) almost certain to be completely incorrect, and b) a colossal waste of everyone’s collective time is of no matter. You, dear readers, can’t get enough of this. You are determined to know what the lottery teams are going to do, and which team is going to buy its way into the first round, and which European players will be stashed overseas.
The reason it’s going to be wrong is because there is almost no one — no coach, no GM, no scout, and certainly no agent — who is in any way being honest with me, or any other reporters, about their true preferences. Teams that want a certain player engage in an elaborate game of deception.
A team that covets Joe Jones, for example, but knows that Jones won’t likely be on the Draft board when their time comes, has no problem spreading the most scurrilous lies about Ol’ Joe to gullible members of my profession, so that he might fall to them when their time comes to pick. You know them. (The lies, not the gullible members of my profession.) I hear he’s not working out well. Doesn’t really go to his right. There’s a medical red flag on his knee/elbow/foot. He’s kind of a head case. Entourage issues. And on and on.
Agents who don’t want their clients playing for a certain team for whatever reason hint at “instability” within that organization. You know, Smith and Wesson don’t really get along. The coach is on his way out. They told me they don’t like my guy. He’s not a good fit there, anyway. And on and on.
And because everyone is lying — not to mention that there are teams genuinely conflicted about whom to take — you have no idea how the first 10 picks, much less the 50 that follow, are really likely to go. Nor do you have any idea what last-minute trades are being concocted, and acted upon, as you read this.
But here I am, giving it my best guesses, based on talking to execs around the league; educated guesses based on needs, team wants and the like.
Last year, I got five first-round picks right out of 30 — a sterling success rate of 17 percent! (And I am including that I had the Celtics taking Jared Sullinger — though I had Boston grabbing him at 22 overall instead of 21, where they actually took him.) A 17 on a test — Quantum Physics, Driver’s Ed, Name that Golden Girl — is a failing grade. I hate failing.”

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantThe Cavs trade offer is a very good one, and the Wolves are making a huge decision, right or wrong we’ll just have to wait and see what happens later…
I would be awesome to see Irving and Love together in Cleveland, both we may have to wait until Love is a free agent in a few years…

CavFanPRParticipantMinny wouldn’t think twice about pulling the trigger because they know Love is overrated. The thing is, these are false rumors. The cavs wouldn’t be that dumb to give up the whole team for Love just because he played in the all star. Let’s not forget he got in the all star team thanks to someone elses injury.
