rickyD510ParticipantIt is common knowledge that the Rockets have been trying to clear salary in order to lure a big free agent to Houston, with Thomas Robinson being a likely casualty of any deal. That day is rapidly approaching, according to Jonathan Feigan of the Houston Chronicle, and the Cavaliers are apparently one of the suitors.
The Rockets are in advanced talks on a cap-clearing trade of forward Thomas Robinson, with a deal potentially “imminent,” a person with knowledge of their plans said on Tuesday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs have shown interest in Robinson, according to another individual with knowledge of the Rockets efforts to move Robinson’s $3.5 million salary next season. Though it would be difficult for the Spurs to make any sort of deal for Robinson directly with the Rockets and would likely have to add a third team in a larger deal.

Because I’m not very high on T Rob, I don’t really think this deal helps Cleveland much. It helps Houston shed salary so I would do it if I were them. I mean, I definitely don’t want to pay T Rob THIS:

2015-2016 4,660,482Looking at the Rockets payroll this year, it is funny to think that Harden was their 4th highest paid player behind Asik, Lin, and Garcia. I remembered Morey overpaying Lin and Asik, but why on earth is Garcia making over 6 million a year?

“Even though he was stuck in bad situations this year, Robinson still put up solid per-36 numbers of 11.4 points per game with 10.7 rebounds per game”Getting a previous 5th pick from a strong draft for #19 in a “weak” draft. I like it considering we will probably lose Speights.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThis is a very unusual draft that is only considered weak because of a lack of surefire star power however israther deep in projected role playing bigs and shooters which is exactly what Cleveland needs to surround Irving and Waiters with.
My initial thought is the same as yours when thinking about value but when you think further it miggt not bea great trade considering who could be availible still at 19. For example if somehow Bazz is still there it be a terrible trade to have T Rob instead of Bazz.
I don’t think T Rob is a better prospect then Tristan Thompson who would of most likely outshined T Rob in college if he stayed for his sophomore year as Thompsons per 40 freshman numbers were better then T Robs as a jr and Bill Selfs coaching can inflate a players value as he’s easily the most underrated coach in basketball whose gonna turn Wiggins and Seldon into instant title contenders.
Other players who could be availible at 19 whod be better fits for Cle are Karasev, Olynek, and either depending on what they do at one Adams, Bebe or Gobert would give Cle a shot blocker to ignite Irving and Waiters fast breaks.

He was taken too high at 5 considering he’s a 6’8 PF without much of an offensive game but I think there’s still hope if the finds the right fit. At this point I don’t think anyone thinks he’s a starter in the league.

Mr. 19134ParticipantRobinson is actually 6’8 in socks making him closer to 6’10” and his 7’3″ wingspan makes him actually taller and longer then the the 2 best Pf kn the world in Griffin and Love. So at a solid 6’9″ 245 lbs with elite length strength and athleticisn Robinson is far from undersized.

Mr. 19134ParticipantThompson and Robinson are both legit 6’9″ long muscle bound quick twitch athletes with strength and great leaping ability known for there toughness, rebounding and ability to finish in traffic through contact (I kno both they’re advanced stats from last year were in fact terrible around the rim) they’re both still young and filling out.
So if you go the metric that Griffin, Love and Zach Randolph are the 3 best PFs in the world (Duncan, Gasol are 7 foot Cs) are 6’9 (I dont consider Griffin a true 6’10 cuz of his under 7″ wingspan) and realizing that the Spurs and Heat just competed in the Finals using 6’8: PFs in Diaw, Leonard, Lebron and Battier then I fail to understand how Robinson and Thompson are undersized.
