d-grizzlyParticipantmk, back in 02 finals he elbowed doug christie and mike bibby on 2 seperate occasions and wasn’t called a foul on either. in 2009, he elbows at dwight howard at the end of a play, misses howard, luckily. then he elbows nelson in in the chin, in overtime, no offensive foul or flagrant. kobe = one of the greatest cheaters to ever play the game.

Pistol Pete. The PelicanParticipantbutidonthavemoney that was funny,,but d-grizzly you can’t make a case for either one of those elbows the one on jameer nelson, he was right under him when he turned out of the air for a past and dwight, hopefully we all played or play basketball and when someone grabs you like that you always start swinging your hardest trying to get a loose, and the first things that go is the elbows, he has done it in the past and got suspended for example phoenix and memphis but neither one of those were dirty, i just think you’re an upset sore loser magic fan…get over it

sheltwon3ParticipantWhy do people hate the Lakers so but love the Bulls. Yall act like MJ did not get away with stuff. Also i am not going to defend Kobe but that play just like what happed Christie could have gone both ways.Nelson should never had put him self in the way of those elbows. Kobe made a move that is legal except that Nelson face was in the way. Your elbows are allowed space just like the rest of you in basketball and Kobe had his arms in the position before Nelson was elbow. It was pretty close though and when he made the pass it look like he just elbowed him but it was like this he made that move with little regard to Nelson face that should never have been there in the first place. The refs are not always stupid they know when a player is trying to get calls. the only reason for nelson to place he face in the are the Kobe had to move his hands was to try to get a foul called that was not defense how could he D up Kobe that way. It was a situation where he could go both ways and the refs was not gonna call something like that and have every player playing defense with their face to get a bail out call.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 7:32pm #161700

sheltwon3ParticipantAlso the ridiculous trade is not looking as stupid as it once was because Marc Gasol will be close to his brother in skill level and is bigger and also Memphis saved a lot of money. They are below the cap. You see a lot of teams now trying to do what they did. Denver made a move that looked stupid too but they almost made the Finals after making that move. It put them in a better position to take on a big contract because they gave up AI contract which is up for Billups which would have not be wise cap wise if Camby was still there. Grizzlies will be able to get some bargain free agents to their already young and talented core because they realize they were not getting better with Pau Gasol and was paying him all the money.

tuck243ParticipantD-GRIZZLY………
You crying about an elbow when its clear that Kobe didn’t do it intentionally… And on top of that he flopped at a crucial time of the game… Get mad at Nelson for getting that close to someone where someone can’t move his arms…
The Magic had 19 free throws to the Lakers “0” in the 4th qt and overtime… How does a team commit ONE foul for that long? You made a damn discussion about Kobe giving Jameer flopping a$$ an elbow and trying to get away from a man who grabbed him and you failed to realize how much of a one sided game this was… The Magic turned the ball over and MISSED free throws… Stop f ucking crying about some dumb s hit…
The same goes for the 02 conference finals… Don’t get up in a players chest, as a former player, you continue to play the way you do like no one is there… Not intentional, just continue to do what you normally do… If you get caught my bad… Don’t expect the refs to bail you out in the final seconds of the game with a foul… All of you grown a$$ men in here crying about these accedential elbows should be ashamed of yourselves… The Magic blew a game that clearly was given to them…
STOP F UCKING CRYING!!!!!

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 7:41pm #161719

llperezthe play of Marc has made the trade look a little less lopsided, but I would’nt say it was anywhere close to a good trade for Memphis. Gasol was still entering his prime and bigs with his offensive capability don’t come around very often. The money they saved has not resulted in much. Just last summer they offered a big contract to Josh Smith and the hawks matched. Also, if they were committed to getting rid of Gasol, then they should have been able to get more then Marc, an expiring contract in Kwame, and some late picks that might not become anything. Crittenton is already out of town. They should have been able to get lottery picks or already proven young talent for Pau. Lakers won that in a landslide.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 7:46pm #161726

tuck243ParticipantMemphis is hurting for MONEY!!! They knew they were a horrible team and realized Gasol wasn’t a franchise player… So they traded away his contract and took on Kwame’s with one year left on it… They maybe could have got a little more, but they got rid of a player that clearly gave up on them… Do you guys remember Gasol that year? Maybe, I’m the only one with League Pass…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 7:46pm #161728
ckowalskiParticipantI don’t know how you can sit here and say that when kobe turns into instead of away from a double team and throws an elbow that it’s not intentional. If that’s not proof enough you can see on the reply he has to call fisher’s name before he throws the pass because fisher is looking at nelson on the ground because he actually has some class unlike kobe. I hate the lakers as much as anyone but honestly the magic beat themselves that game. After they missed 15 free throws and had 20 turnovers they were lucky to still be in it. But that elbow did change all the momentum in the game.
And butidonthavemoney I don’t think Jazz fans can be mad at Fisher since he went to L.A. because they had the best physicians to care for his daughter.

Mr. BasketballParticipantshould have and could have got lamar, ariza, and picks. ariza was not as good b4. they said no to lamar bcuz he was not expiring. why not offer jaric back to them and then get kwame to make it work. they screwed up and will again this draft when they take thabeet over rubio.

butidonthavemoneyMaybe they shouldn’t be, but they are. I don’t care for Fish but I’m not mad at him.

By squirmydude at 2009-06-110 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 7:51pm #161735

sheltwon3ParticipantPerez money wise that was good trade. It is the same kinds of trades that other GMs are trying to do as team or losing money. If you look at what Marc Gasol is making versus his brother and once they gain a young promising front court player they will have a solid line up and still be under the cap. They can then maybe add a superstar or a young promising player for cheap. Gasol could not carry that team on his on so they decided to destroy and rebuild. Look at how much they have to spend and also look at the talent they have. All they need to do now is grab a few solid young players and they will be set. The West is too deep to be over the cap and not make the playoffs. If you look at all the factors that was not that bad of a move. It looked worse than what it was when it was made I put it like that. You will see some worse moves this free agent period as people try to get under to get a go at Lebron Bosh or Wade. Memphis is already under. Honestly if they were in the East, they would be a lock to get a top star because they already have enough talent that with one superstar they would be no less than top 4 in the East.

It happened twice… You guys hate Kobe, so much… ITS FUNNY… He’s like the Floyd Mayweather of basketball… Everyone hates him and bets against him, but some how he proves to hit that jaw EVERYTIME… LOL… The best in boxing and the best in basketball… Gotta hate them!!! LOL…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 7:54pm #161739

llperezAs far as the Kobe elbow, he was holding the ball high with his elbows out and was looking to make a pass as soon as he saw the double team coming. Nelson’s face was just in the way. Should it have been called a foul, yes, but it was not dirty or intentional. Anyone who plays basketball has been elbowed in the face on accident at least once, it does’nt mean it was dirty or intentional.
As far as the Jazz fans booing Fish when he returned the next year, I thought that was bs and spoke pretty lowly of those fans. Fish was under contract for 22 million over the next 3 years with Utah and he signed for 15 million over 3 years with LA. He took a huge pay cut to see for the well being of his daughter. He busted his a.ss for them while he was in Utah. They boo’ed hime everytime he touched the ball that next season. Those fans have no class.

sheltwon3ParticipantIf they take Thabeet over Rubio then yeah they will have screw up this year. Also no one knew how good Ariza was when that trade was made anyway. Remember Ariza got hurt and did not even play in the playoffs. They could have done better but you can say that about a lot of trades. They accomplished what they wanted. They got a young talented Big for a older talented big who people said was soft and could not carry a team. They also got a young promising point who they traded to Washington. All in all they came out pretty good they have a young talented team and they are under the cap and they did this in like a year when it takes some teams years to do. Player wise it was a somewhat bad trade but when you add the business side to it it is a good trade especially with the way the young Gasol has played. He is bigger and has skills like his brother to some degree. Kobe even said that they should have found a way to keep him because Marc Gasol is good and he will only get better.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:01pm #161749

llperezThere are always gonna be bad calls. They happen throughout the game for both teams. How about when they called fisher for pushing Howard on a rebound right after Howard stiff armed Gasol to the ground? I’m not complaining, just pointing out that they happen both ways.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:01pm #161751
ckowalskiParticipantand what the hell was with pietrus coming to help on gasol down low throughout the game and leaving kobe open? If he can make a shot damn near blind with battier’s hand in his eyes what the f*ck do you think hes going to do with a wide open look?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:04pm #161753
j1232eParticipantD on fisher in the late 4th and overtime was weak. Stick tight on him fisher will freak out and throw an elbow!

tuck243Participanthow people aren’t talking about how much the Magic choked… No one is talking about these miss free throws… But steadily talking about the elbow (that was a great NO call)… The MAGIC blew it… Don’t blame Kobe for Hedo and D12 preformance… Kobe stepped to the line and hit all his free throws this game… I got on him for missing it last game and I’m a fan… No excuses for being tired, he is supposed to make them… So, do the same and accept the fact yall F ucked up…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:13pm #161762

Mr. BasketballParticipanttuck243: i said that they were terrible calls when they said it was a moving screen. they were not. moving screens are not common.
now onto the out bounds calls. they take time outs before the refs signal them. plus it was not even 5 seconds. did u count by 2s? 5 seconds is a long time to take to throw it in.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:16pm #161768

NYK2010ParticipantEnjoy this title because you won’t be winning another one for a while. Odom or Ariza will leave they won’t keep both most likely Odom is out because Ariza’s defense and 3pt shooting is key. Already been talks of being way over the cap and luxury tax. There is a chance Kobe opts out & Lakers have to give him more money as well for a longer contract too, Kobe says he wants max pay the rest is the Lakers problem. Shannon Brown is probably be gone and their trying to sell their 1st round draft pick not sure they can becaz they traded last years away. The West Conf. is overrated but Denver will be better & maybe Houston gets lucky and is healthy for once they would definately beat the Lakers in the playoffs.
Still the real NBA champions are the Celtics they lost KG & Powe and still took it to Game 7 against Orlando. If healthy they have the best team esp. with Rondo, Perking improving.
By the way Kobe is a dirty player anyone who thinks otherwise is clueless, he’s been suspended before but more importantly they won’t call a foul on him when its so blatant.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:21pm #161771

tuck243ParticipantLMFAO!!! You got me on that one… Do you watch the NBA? LOL.. You crazy guy…

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:24pm #161773

tuck243ParticipantI guess L.A. isn’t going to get better as a team… Knick fans don’t know s hit, but they’ll be in the lottery next year… Continue to hope for 2010… Every year proves that anything can happen… You and these what ifs…
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:24pm #161774

llperezI think the Lakers will lose Odom but keep Ariza. If the Lakers have a full season of getting Bynum back in rythim, Odom’s loss will only really be felt if an injury occurs. I hope I’m wrong because Odom is one of my favorite players. Ariza, Brown and Farmar should all be improved. I don’t see how you can already count the Lakers out.
As far as the Celtics being the true champs because KG is hurt, that’s not the way it works. Injuries happen. If the Lakers had Bynum and Ariza last year, maybe that series goes differently. We don’t know, that’s why whoever wins the title is the legit champion, none of this hypothetical if so and so was healthy or whatever stuff.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:45pm #161791
NYK2010ParticipantNot counting the Lakers out by if Orlando plays a little bit better down the stretch in game 2 and 4 this could be a different series. Out of all those guys I have the least faith in Bynum he’s done very little in his career except a handful of great regular season games. The Odom loss is gonna be huge, I agree Ariza will most likely resign with them. No way Lakers get to 65 wins without Odom, you think Kobe, Gasol, Fisher, are going to improve they been in the league for a while now they have hit the ceiling. Not to say those 2 aren’t great players. I don’t see a team gift wrapping another player to the Lakers like Memphis did with Gasol.
Yeah i’m really wrong about the Knicks signing free agents in 2010, meanwhile every big name guy talks about it players are going to come to NY in 2010. From Nash, Kobe, Howard etc they all say big free agent guys will come to NY, last I checked its a pretty big market and the owner is willing to spend.
No more guys like Isiah, player like playing for D’antoni, I’m not in love with the system but it worked for Phoenix and the players seem to like it.
I still think the Celtics have the best team, Ariza wasn’t this good last year look at this 3 pt %. Bynum always been overrated to me they act like he’s Bill Russell. Lakers definately the champs I get the what ifs but just saying I like the Celtics as favorites next year.

- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:25pm #161776
NYK2010ParticipantWhat about Stan Van Gundy not telling his team to foul on the last possession in the 4th quarter. Fisher is dribbling up the court all you have to do is put your hand on him around the time he’s on the half court. Take Howard out of the game and put in your best free throw shooters. Even if Fisher hits both, they have to foul the Magic after that you get another shot w/ the free throws most likely hit both w/ a good ft shooter up there. More importanly your deciding the game instead of giving the Lakers a shot to tie with a clean look at the 3. Fisher even said that he got a good look and was able to step into it, meanwhile Nelson is trying to avoid contact scared of getting called for a foul. Thats what happens when you play scared to lose instead of playing to win. Also they didn’t get Lewis involved in the game might as well play Gortat then if Lewis isn’t getting good shots. Not like Gortat hurt your team he can play D on Laker bigs and rebound too. Nelson plays the entire 4th quarter basically instead of Alston who is faster and had a better game. Coach Van Gundy blew it again.
Oh well even if the Magic lost this game its would’ve been tough for them to win the series.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:28pm #161781

sheltwon3ParticipantRegardless of what people say about Kobe being a cheater he will be hoisting up a trophy this year number 4 and also Odom and Brown should be back. Odom does not want to leave LA and no one has enough money to take him away from LA. Ariza is a different story but I am sure they could get them all back but they may need to trade Vujacic to do it because he offers no help and Brown will get his minutes and the guy that LA drafts will take Farmar minutes. Everyone else should stay put because they are not that costly. Odom will get about 8 to 10 million and Ariza could see 5 to 7 million and Brown will get like 3 million so that is a max of about 20 million and the Lakers have great fans and make the playoffs so they can afford to go over a little bit.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:30pm #161783

Mr. BasketballParticipantsarcasm on: hey tuck243: since u know all the rules by heart, why don’t u just become a referee? i mean ur so much better with basketball rules than those refs or any other fan right? sarcasm off
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:34pm #161788

llperezI hope the Lakers keep the team together. Odom has said he will take a pay cut to stay in LA. Problem is Bynum’s contract kicks in next year and the Lakers are already over the expected cap for next season before they even try to resign anybody. So that 20 million or so, would actually be like 40 million or so due to the luxury tax. That’s quite a bit, hopefully Buss eats the money in order to keep them together. And I don’t see anybody trading for Vujacic the way he is playing.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:43pm #161794

sheltwon3ParticipantYou are maybe right but hey it would not hurt to try because you never know he can play good defense sometimes and maybe with more minutes he could be serviceable. A good trade brings out the best in some people. Look at Ariza the Lakers got him for nothing. People get mad at the Gasol trade but the Ariza trade was the real steal. They got rid a player they did not want who did not have an exspiring contract for Ariza. Orlando was dumb to make that deal because they didnt know what they had.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:47pm #161798
NYK2010ParticipantGasol was the big trade look at the Lakers in 05-07 no real big man. Ariza is a nice role player but w/out Gasol that team has lil chance to win it all. Bynum can’t stay out of foul trouble and Odom not that much of a post up player really.

- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:45pm #161796

sheltwon3ParticipantNKY2010 I hear and I agree but I do hope Odom stays and the only teams that could pay him are not in places he likes.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 8:50pm #161801

llperezI feel like a horrible Laker fan for suggesting this, but I think the Cavs should go after Odom. They desperately need help with their bigs and Odom is a very versatile player and great rebounder. Also, he can defend Lewis on the perimeter, something Verajao could’nt do. However, Odom has gauranteed that his next home will be near the beach no matter what, and I’m not sure how the beaches are in Ohio.

COMMON SENSE RULE 1
Never place head in/near area where elbow can potentially make contact (Nelson made two horrible decisions down the stretch, both involving Fisher.)0- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 9:22pm #161818
NYK2010ParticipantEven Mark Jackson said it Alston should be in the game. Why is Nelson even in the game, Alston is playing better & can get to the basket. All Nelson is doing is falling down by the 3 pt line he made 2 plays in the 4th quarter but he’s not ready to play down the stretch that much. I’m starting to see why Miami fired Van Gundy he’s not great in a big spot.
By the way everyone pushes off, travels but not everyone is known to throw blatant elbows numerous times in key spots at the end of games, well maybe Karl Malone was. Stop comparing that to Howard elbowing Dalembert in Game 5 because he got suspended the next game. About .05% chance of Kobe gettin suspended for the next game.

tuck243ParticipantEVERYONE, EVERYONE, I MEAN EVERYONE can be a better ref than half of those guys… You TOO… LOL… You might be the one person in America (other than Stern of course) thinks NBA refs are doing a good job…

RomanGParticipantIf someone on your team played “dirty” like Kobe you all waould defend him. Your just jealoous little bitches because Kobe is the ultimate competitor and the Lakers are the best team in the league. This conversation will be over in a couple days when Kobe has his 4th ring.

Mr. BasketballParticipanttuck: u have obviously never been a ref. i was and its really hard. its easy to miss calls. no one is going to be perfect. however, in the nba, some people get more respect then others: kobe and lebron. rookies and no names don’t. i think the refs suck.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 10:01pm #161832

tuck243ParticipantEveryone around me does too… My friends father is a ref for College ball… He’s tells me the little things refs do… I’m so aware of it… What position each ref needs to be on the floor, how AFTER every game they are critique on how they perform… One rule each ref has is to be sure, never doubt yourself… Its obvious these refs second guess themselves… And its obvious they blow A LOT of calls… I’m not saying start calling everything a foul just call it both ways… And whenever one team shoots 0 free throws in one quarter, while the other team shoots 19, its a problem…

leemanParticipantNelson wus arriving just as kobe wus making a basketball play a pivot towards the 3 pt line and a pass no blatant elbow just a basketball play and no shame on nelson he wus just trying to get his team the win and took a hell of a shot in the process….. van gundy is an indiot and i say this a huge alston hater

d-grizzlyParticipanti can’t believe how many people defended kobe’s elbow. as in, nelson shouldn’t have come in contact with his elbow. some of you are simply f*cking jokes with no respect to the game. but it’s alright. i can’t stop you from being retarded. i can’t stop you from actually opening your eyes because you’re on kobe’s d*ck. sorry for the harsh words, but as a big basketball fan first, and a memphis grizzlies fan second, i’m very dissapointed in tonight and some of you.

Meditated StatesParticipantYeah Kobe throws them and I’m a Celtics fan but whateva, its a mans game. Mutombo and Karl Malone were known for sending cats to LALA land throughout their careers too.

MrWoLeeParticipanti love kobe, i try to model my game after him (like every kid). but he is a dirty player. and so is dwight howard, so is lebron james, so is dwyane wade, kevin garnett…EVERYBODY in the league is dirty i guess. i mean, there is pushing and shoving on every possession, just like there is holding on every play in football. the league is so protective now that they don’t let them play through anything!
so please..let’s stop with the “he’s a dirty player, he’s not” thing. because everybody is….

rvirsalParticipanttough = physical = dirty
teams are looking to get tougher this offseason as i’ve read from hoopsworld. celtics were the “toughest” team this season when they had kg. but hey, he’s probably the “toughest” player in the league, and rondo’s his heir apparent (just watch his plays against the bulls).
magic threw this game away. rashard choked. howard who was decent in his FTs the last couple of games, was terrible in game 4. jameer (who looked lost on defense the whole game) played very very poor D, he should’ve fouled D-Fish and didn’t let him take that 3pt shot. they had a foul to give! poor decision on their part. magic lost this game not coz of kobe’s elbow, but coz of poor basketball decisions. lots of lakers in foul trouble, was in penalty early in the 4th quarter! they didn’t take advantage of that! quit whining on the physicality of the games. pietrus over-hand punched gasol while he was in the air in the dying seconds of the OT period, gasol was hit by pietrus on the face while driving for a lay up some time during the 2nd half… gasol was actually down for quite some time, dwight pushed gasol the same time he was being pushed by fisher from behind. shit happens both ways.
this rant is just lame…

ckowalskiParticipantits not about whose team you are a fan of or who is a dirty player, its about the fact that kobe’s elbow was a foul, plain and simple. refs called that game very tight the whole first half and then really swallowed the whistle in the second half and let them play, especially in the third quarter. If you are going to call a tight game at least be consistent about it. yes i know the magic shot 19 free throws in the 4th to the lakers 0 and that is a pretty big difference but i think van gundy summed it up best after the lakers got back in it in the third quarter when he said they were “extremely physical and extremely aggressive while managing to not commit a single foul.” that elbow was a turning point in the game and it was too big to be decided by a no call.
as for van gundy keeping nelson in during the 4th, alston lost you that halftime lead and nelson brought it back. you should reward players for hard work so i have no problem with that, however he should have got in fisher’s face a lot quicker than he did. their defense broke down after kobe passed out of that double team.

xbadgerhustlerParticipantAt first I thought it was inadvertent- like Nelson came up on Kobe without him knowing and Kobe just tagged his chin in the midst of his move, but then on the replay i noticed that kobe DEFINITELY looked right at Nelson and knew he was there. then you saw him process the thought~ a little shift left~ nope, nothing there… i guess i’ll pop this M*****F***** to get Fish an open shot….
I already hated kobe cuz of how much he whines, but that was just dirty. I don’t think the Dwight elbow was dirty, but if it was anywhere near shoulder level he should be suspended to be consistent with the Dwight suspension earlier.
i’m so disappointed in the magic, they let that one slip away, Turk and Dwight missed FT after FT, Nelson didn’t even set up his defense within 2 feet of the 3 point line against one of the better 3 point shooters in finals history…. thats just dumb. and then he looked around after the play like he was the victim or something…. damn. i really wanted the magic to win

IndianaBasketballParticipantI can’t believe you’re crying about an UNintentional elbow by Bryant. Nelson was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Nothing malicious there. Point is… The Magic BLEW this game. They choked. The coaches & players choked.
– Instead of focusing on a UNintentional elbow by Bryant, let’s focus on the INtentional flagrant foul by Pietrus against Gasol. THAT was CLEARLY a dirty play.
– The refs gave the Magic EVERY opportunity to win this game. The WHOLE Laker frontcourt was in foul trouble the 1st half because of bogus calls. Lol, I mean the Lakers were forced to play Mbenga & Powell! That should tell you how terrible it was… BUT they weathered the storm.
– The Magic led by 12 at half-time & were OUTSCORED 30-14 in the 3rd quarter!
– It literally SICKENED me how this game wasn’t called fairly. The refs didn’t call TWO major five second calls against the Magic. That’s just unacceptable. They missed three second calls against Howard ALL game. They missed traveling calls against Howard. Howard pushing Gasol in the back goes uncalled, while Fisher gets called for pushing Howard in the back! The calls were one-sided!
– The Magic attempted 17 more free-throws than the Lakers! That’s sickening. The refs gave them every opportunity to win.
– Even more sickening is that the Magic missed 15 free-throws! They choked! Howard shot 6-14… Choked. Turkoglu shot 8-13… Choked. They both missed CLUTCH free-throws when they counted! They had the game in their hands & threw it away.
– The Magic had 17 turnovers! & SVG says, “Finals experience doesn’t mean anything”… LOL.
– Bryant shot 11-31 & the Magic STILL lost…
– SVG played Nelson over Alston AGAIN when Alston CLEARLY is playing better. SVG choked. Alston should’ve been on the floor. Nelson wasn’t a threat to score.
– SVG deciding not to foul toward the end of regulation WHEN THEY WERE UP THREE… Lol he choked. Instead he decided to DOUBLE TEAM BRYANT FULL COURT… lol. Nelson, along w/ other Magic players, guarded a layup attempt instead of a three & Fisher sends it into OT… He choked. & SVG says, “Finals experience doesn’t matter”… Lol.
– SVG couldn’t even draw up a good play for Turkoglu at the end of regulation… Instead Pietrus gets the ball & shoots bad three pointer…. SVG choked. During the post game press conference Turkoglu took responsibility saying he didn’t execute the play right. & SVG says, “Finals experience doesn’t matter”… Lol.
– The Lakers wanted it more. The lose ball Fisher hit the floor for, the loose ball Gasol ran down, the offensive rebound Ariza got & BRYANT SNATCHING THE REBOUND FROM HOWARD… Just shows the Lakers wanted it more.
– “PRESSURE BURSTS PIPES OR MAKES DIAMONDS”… The Magic bursted… BUT SVG says, “Finals experience doesn’t matter”… Lol.
– SVG was outcoached… AGAIN. He choked.
I could go on & on… Point is Orlando blew it. Own up to it & focus on taking the series back to LA by taking it one game at a time.

ckowalskiParticipantIf were going to talk about finals experience shouldn’t we mention how the lakers got destroyed by 40 in the finals last year? What an experience that must have been.

d-grizzlyParticipantwow. it’s been awhile since i actually have seen it. but ya, careful man, alotta the dumba$$es here are gonna say bibby’s face shouldn’t have fouled kobe’s elbow. heartbreakin aint it?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 11:32am #162232

tuck243ParticipantKobe is 6-6… Jameer Nelson is 5-10… Mike Bibby 6-1?… When you do something PLAYERS call squaring up or performing a TRIPLE THREAT… You move your elbows to create SPACE with the ball… You are taught that since you start basketball… The best triple threat is taking the ball from waist to chest and then SHOWING the ball above the head… Its to simulate a shot, that’s why Kobe shot fakes are GREAT fakes… You can do the same while in the post… You are taught to keep the ball high so you don’t get stripped down low… It just happened that Jameer was 8 in. shorter than Kobe and his face was the same height as Kobe’s Triple Threat… Whenever someone swing their arms in a triple threat you back up, give them their space and get back in their chest… As a player, you HAVE to create space especially if someone is taking it away…
Mike Bibby… 6-1… HOLDING Kobe’s hip… To get lose Kobe did a swim move and accedentially hit Bibby with it… Mike Bibby is 5 in. shorter… Same s hit… Take away a player’s space and a player IS allowed to make space… Was it Kobe’s fault the Kings were losing that game and Bibby took a shot and tryed to get a foul called?… NO ONE will bail you out on that… For starters I’ve never seen that play get called on the offensive player… WHEN have you?
When was the last time you seen a foul called on a player doing a triple threat? Not swinging their elbows, Doing a basketball move as in a triple threat? That’s my point… And at the end of the day the Magic blew that game….
And for the guy that said it was one-sided calls in the 3rd qt. Huh? What game were you watching? The Magic blew a game that David Stern tried so hard to give to them and they blew it… Don’t blame Kobe for this…
If you cry babies played basketball you would be considered a little b itch crying like this…

Stanford hoopsParticipantwow really..have thes laker/kobe haters really resorted to crying?…theres no way ya’ll would have liked the nba back in the day then when elbows were thrown constantly ..and yall must hate johnstocken since he was voted the most dirty player in the nba 3 years in a row by other nba players….dwight howard throws elbows ron aretest kenyon martian mutombo ..part of the game buddy so yall need to get over it..its a difference when he throw it because you tryna hurt someone and you throw it because youre trying to get position..stop the crying
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 11:36am #162243
ckowalskiParticipantTake away a player’s space and a player IS allowed to make space…
If we went by this logic there would be no such thing as a charge either.
Kobe is allowed his space just as Nelson is allowed his. But its damn hard to give a shot fake with your back to the basket.0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 11:38am #162246
WälseParticipantthat elbow was nothing…there was no call to be made…
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 11:46am #162252

llperezJalen Rose and Tim Legler both said it was not a foul. Jeff Van Gundy said it was. I have’nt heard any of the other so called “pro’s” comment on it. Personally, I don’t think you decide a game on an accidental elbow. But then again I’m a Laker fan, so I might be a little biased.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 3:14pm #162453

tuck243ParticipantI commented on the post too… Look at that…
Same with a charge, You HAVE to allow a player to take a step or another case, come down… You have to give a player enough space to not foul… Am I the only one who played organized ball here?
You know what? you’re right… The Magic didn’t lose because of bad coaching, miss free throws, or stupid defense… They lost because Kobe elbowed Jameer Nelson in the face and gave Dwight a elbow after grabbing him… You right, my bad what was I thinking…

j1232eParticipantEvery superstar and even vet. “cheat” I call it respect and knowledge of the game. Most of them no when and when not you can get away with”cheating” I think it is not “cheating” it is smarts of the game.
