Holy Crap, New Mexico State's Center Is Enormous

If you’re watching the New Mexico State-Saint Louis game, surely you’ve noticed Sim Bhullar, the Aggies’ man-mountain of a center. He’s listed at 7’5", 360 pounds. That’s five pounds more than the combined weight of St. Louis’s starting backcourt this afternoon. He’s a big boy.
Born in Toronto to two Indian immigrants, the 20-year-old freshman initially committed to Xavier, but backed out when he didn’t qualify academically. Averaging 10 points and 6.5 rebounds for New Mexico State this year (in just 24 mpg, but his totals increased as the season went on, indicating that his conditioning is improving), Bhullar could become the first impactful basketball player of Indian descent. He could also wash out, like other behemoths when they run into top-level competition.
Setting future and ethnicity and deeper meaning aside, he’s big. Very big. Here are some photos of Bhullar being big.

Damn shaq is racist. But the kid has obvious potential. He didn’t make much of an impact against SLU and they played better when he was on the bench and they could apply pressure. Also, he got beat down court a couple times, got abused by Evans in the high post of their zone and was too quick. But he’s so damn big. If his conditioning is right, his whole game can expand. He can affect shots fom just standing there. I know he’s been talked about on here since HS and i’m very interested in his progression going forward.

Banja Sy really looks like an NBA player, but when push comes to shove, he’s not. Still, he impressed me with his athletic ability when I was watching this game. As for Bhullar, he’s got a lot of work to do on his body, but he has 3 more years to do it. If he can get down to 315 or so, I think he could be taken in the 2nd round. I’ve followed him all year, just because he’s interesting ( not many 7’5” players that aren’t complete stiffs ) and he’s surpassed my expectations for him as a freshman. I think he’ll probably be a 15/10.5 player by his senior year, he’s pretty skilled, and for as big as he his, he moves pretty well…he just gets winded really easily and falls behind running the court.

I played against him in highschool. He and his brother got dominated by our 6-6 power foward who went to B.U and Amile Jefferson. He is just not athletic enough, fast enough, and quick enough to do anything. He can barely jump and a fast center would kill him on the break. He would have been great 20 years ago, but now the game is too fast.

I watched part of the game and his hands and coordination looked atrocious. He didn’t really do anything well. That being said, I guess you can’t teach 7’5” so hopefully he avoids the Kenny George path.

Sim could be a really good player. I’v seen a couple of his games and he’s pretty talented. He needs to improve his conditioning big time, and learn how to get up and down the floor at a reasonable pace but he has three years to do that. He’s already averaging 10.1 ppg 6.7 rpg 2.4 bpg in under 25 mpg and that’s not taking into account all the missed opportunities he has because he takes forever to get up and down the court. If he got down to the 315 that JoeWolf mentioned earlier he’s going to be a 1st round pick.

Neither he nor his brother have any shot of being NBA players. They’re way too slow, unathletic and not coordinated enough.
Am I the only one who thinks it’s funny than he’s a tall Indian basketball player who didn’t qualify academically?

If i interpreted it correctly, shaq called him the big “call center”, which i thought meant like a telemarketer since they are stereotyped as Middle Easterners. I’m probably wrong though or giving shaq more credit for for being clever than i should
