Stephen Zimmerman looks like he might have some potential. He’s a 7 foot sophomore center in high school who is being highly recruited by some major college basketball programs ( example: Arizona, Kansas, UCLA, etc ). He’s a top 5 ranked player in the high school 2015 Class. And looks like he has a strong foundation of coordination, mobility, agility, timing, and the utilization of strong fundamental skills. He’s already being compared to Paul Gasol and Troy Murphy. I’m intrigued because I love talented centers who have a high all-around skill level

I would never usually say that about something on a highlight tape. But the coast to coast finger roll at 29 seconds say he can play. The more and more the League is about numbers and potential, the more everyone will value energy bigs. I did not see him finish or block a shot with his right hand though. But what can a few highlights really tell you anyway. Olynyk seems to get enough touches but usually the college game suppresses active bigs games with a nice drop step. He was a hitch in his but the fact he has one is a plus, a big that can play back to the basketball has a hard time navigating the college game but it looks like he can move around and play face up. A guy like that seems like he would be better off living with Olajuwon for a year after high school then playing against college zones with pass-fourth point guards.

Wow, not bad. It has been a while since I have seen a kid this young with that height and mobility with the ball. He seems to have good instincts for rebounding and shot blocking for his age. If this kid can put in the work he could be very special.

I remember Mc Dunkin posting about way back almost two summers ago. At that time he was 14 and about 6’10, and it might’ve been too early to tell at that point, but it was apparent he was the real deal even then. And I just saw that Aran just made a scourting report for him a couple days ago.

How good he can become will depend on how much weight he can put on and how he carries it. He has the skill, mobility and bball IQ at such an early age to be a dynamite face up player in the future. I also think hes a future PF because of his frame. His skill set would be best utilized in space where he can shoot, drive and have cutters run off of him.
IMO its b/t him and Ivan Rabb as far as who’s the best in that class.

I hope I’m not saying this just because he is white, but his game reminds me of BJ Mullens when he was in HS.. Long, decent athlete, decent range on his jumper, versatile. He will be on my radar from now on..

Zimmerman has a much better IQ than Mullens at the same stage. He’s more skilled as well.
BJ was a physical beast in HS when the light was turned on (which often wasn’t the case). He had size AND mass to dominate. Zimmerman would have to put on a good 50 lbs to get to where Mullens was at in HS.

To me Mullens always had 5 star talent but with a 2 star brain and intangibles. I don’t get the same impression from Zimmerman.

A lot of videos of young 7 footers just show a use of size. This kid seems to be a ball player, with a few good post moves for a 15 year old. I don’t have time to scout high school, but he’s a name I’ll look out for. Thanks for the heads up.

You can’t possibly know that the kid has a higher basketball IQ unless you’ve played with, against or coached both of the players… anything else would just conjecture. Youtube video bedamned…

The kid seems skilled against other young players.
