TYOParticipantI’m currently watching the UK vs Tennessee game & when you watch Archie you immediately notice he can almost get in the paint at will. He’s an incredible athlete but am I the only one at times who notices he can be quite selfish at times. He’s had 2 fast breaks where he could hvea given the ball up to teammates for easy layups but took them instead himself.
With that said..I’d still take him in the top 7-8 picks because I do believe he can be a special talent in the league. I’m curious to hear some of you guys opinions on Archie.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantThe reasons why he isn’t regarded higher: he selfish, inneffective without the ball in his hands, has tunnel vision at times, is a combo guard, and can get out of control at times. Despite all of these knocks he is mad talented but has some issues that will hold him back

kentuckykid15ParticipantHe giveth and taketh away. Far from a finished product, but when he does figure it out, watch out.

scbe2223ParticipantIn every game this year Goodwin has shown the same skills and weaknesses. He hasn’t grown as a player to this point, and a lot of the blame should fall on Calipari. Goodwin plays with intensity, and is insanely quick of the bounce. However, he is somewhat of a chucker at this point. Doesn’t understand the concept of team offense, partly because this team is inept offensively as a unit. Goodwin is very aggressive however and has pretty decent handles. He isn’t a pure shooter by any means, and will need to work on his shot a lot in the league. More of a dion waiters style right now.

Iain’tFinnaKnowThoDemar doesn’t have anywhere near his handles.
P.S. That first dunk right there is vintage Wade, look how he quickly steps to the right (fake the defense), then changes momentum to the left and explodes. That right there, is MORE than just athleticism.

phila9012ParticipantThat makes sense, he is just a smaller and has more handles and can get into the lane better, which is what you would expect from a smaller player. overall that is a pretty good comparison.

Iain’tFinnaKnowThoAnd everybody needs to calm the F down, i just heard the dude on ESPN say he doesn’t make others better.
If he wanted to he could be literally playing like a point guard out there. He could be posting up 13ppg 5apg/rpg, and then he would be getting the tweener label. He’s a scorer because he’s a slashing SG, plus a little pg.
#OP: I def. see what you’re saying that he could’ve found his team mates. I know exactly what your’e talking about…
it was like twice in the break and once in the half court when he took that floater (which he made) instead of lobbing it for the oop. On the break, he took it himself because he was struggling to score today and he was left open as well.
He does make other people better, more than Mclemore, who is a good passer none the less and stretches defenses.0- Posted on: Wed, 01/16/2013 - 10:02am #739400

HaleParticipantNo, Goodwin is a terrible PG. Whether he could average 5 apg is irrelevant because like Austin Rivers, he’s a true 2-guard and would suck actually running a team.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantGoodwin’s style of play reminds me of Kendall Gill…Gill was a shooting guard that could also switch over and play the point, but was better suited for scoring, then setting up teammates……….

For_Never_EverParticipantLike D-Wade and Westbrook this kid should stay more then one year to improve all his basketball skills. I doubt he’ll stay because he will get drafted high regardless for his potential and athleticism. I don’t see the tweener label. He is definitely a sg that is just slightly short for the position not by much either 6’4.5/6’5. However, he makes up for it with a 6’11 ish wingspan, strength and being an elite athlete. He doesn’t have that insane burst of speed like those two players I mentioned earlier though, in my opinion.

Scotty5000ParticipantPlaying like a typical FR right now. Needs lots of seasoning and when it done, he will be a beast. Hopeuflly is patient enough to stick around for his Soph year.

For_Never_EverParticipantI know D-Wades name gets tossed out there a lot for tweeners and shorter shooting guards, but in all honestly on pure body and athleticism Archie Goodwin is the closes I’ve ever seen to him in college.

TYOParticipantI think a young Wade is quicker..Archie may be a better leaper though.
