BasterdInABasketParticipantI know that only players that were under contract by that team at the time the amnesty clause was created are eligible to be amnestied, but… can players that re-signed new contracts with that team be amnestied? Examples could Ilyasova be amnestied by Milwaukee or Lopez be amnestied by the Nets?

ChewyParticipantonly deals that existed before the new CBA. Those deals were agreed on during the most recent CBA so they can’t be amnestied.
Thats why alot of people are being amnestied this off season because even the worst contracts only have about two or three yrs left on them and in the last yr of the deal they become great trade bait as expiring contracts. So it would only be worth it to amnesty a player if he has multiple years left on his deal.

DolanCareParticipantThat’s why the amnesty clause is unfair to the well run organizations. They have to use their amnesties on insignificant contracts just so they don’t waste it completely. Meanwhile it’s a ;get out of jail free’ card for those who sign Travis Outlaw to a massive deal.
