Here at the Summer League, the Spurs are giving Leonard a big role on offense.  He is handling the ball, running the pick and roll, and attacking the rim.  He has 18 points at halftime, and has scored both from the perimeter and in the paint.

I wonder if the Spurs will give him a bigger role in the offense.  Last year we didn’t see as much of Leonard handling the ball, with most of that being done by Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili.  Even if it doesn’t show up next year, it looks like Leonard has some serious potential.  Of course it is only the Summer League, but it is nice to see him a role he normally wouldn’t have alongside Manu and Parker.

That trade of Hill for Leonard is looking even better now.

The Lakers Summer League team sucks, whoever put that team together needs to be smacked lol Summer League or not that team has no legit go to player, if Darius Morris is your go to guy you have a problem(Not a knock against him, just telling the truth).

True, but it is interesting just to see that the coaching staff is allowing Leonard to play a role much different than that which he played in the NBA.  Sure, if he was asked to play a point forward role in NBA, he would likely struggle, but it isn’t inconceivable that the Spurs would run some plays where Leonard runs a pick-and-roll or does some of the things he is being asked to do in the summer league.  Manu isn’t going to be around forever.

I’m curious to see how Ryan Richards and Corey Joseph pan out and see if they could be contributors in a few years.

And as for Leonard, we’re talking about a guy who can score at 16 points a game without making a play up for him, so if he continues to develop his offensive game, he could be a scary force at the 3 spot in the near future.

Kawhi really impressed me with San Antonio this year.  Of course, Pop can make any player look good but Kawhi was really solid.  If he continues to improve his game, I could see him making a couple all-star games.

ive always compared kawhi too g wallace very good on d rebounds the positon well very high energy level and getting between 12 and 16 a night without having too have a play ran for em can also hit the occasional 3 pt im a huge spurs fan and when that trade was first made i didnt really like it george was developing a nice roll as a combo guard off the bench and kawhi wasnt sure thing coming out of college but like 99 percent of the time spurs were rite on and doing that trade if the pacers called now and and said hey well give u hill for kawhi the spurs would ask if whoever on the was off their meds for the day

kawhi leonard reminds me of a younger shawn marion, a guy that could do it all and never had a play ran for him.

    the matrix averaged in 05-06, 22 ppg, 12 rpg, 2 spg, and 2 bpg…

im not sure if Leonard will ever hit those numbers but he has a similar type of impact on games

That’s an excellent player comparison. I don’t think he’ll be a bona fide superstar like Amare was then but he’ll be doing the dirty work
