Aiven MileParticipantIn their prime/peak where would these players rank in the current NBA?
Isiah Thomas
George Gervin
James Worthy
Kevin McHale
Patrick Ewing0 - Posted on: Tue, 06/19/2012 - 11:56pm #684361

r377ParticipantDwight only looks good as the centre’s are weak compared to the 90’s of Ewing, Hakeem, robinson, Shaq.
Ewing would be no1 centre
I would have Isiah prob second behind CP3 as best PG although he does have 2 rings.
The iceman i would prob rank behing durant, but ahead of melo as SF.
Mchale – below duncan and garnett. prob only just slightly below dirk but prob just ahead of K-Love at this stage of Love’s career…

For_Never_EverParticipantI watched these two players the most that you listed being a Celtics fan.
I think James Worthy athleticism and defence would translate. I’m not sure where he would rank, he would have the style and similar role as Shawn Marion.
Al jefferson has the closes style, size, game, athleticism, I have seem to Kevin Mchale. Wherever Big Al ranks I would say.

capecodderParticipantJefferson =McHale at 60%…..McHale was an outstanding defensive player and one of the top five power forwards of all time…..Duncan, Malone (overrated), Pettit, James (pf?), Garnett

TallmanNYCParticipantHow as a Celtics fan could you say McHale would be similar to Al Jefferson? McHale was a nearly unstoppable offensive weapon. The guy shot over 60% from the field and over 80% from the line. Add in he was blocking two points a game and rebounding nicely and you had a way better offensive player and at least as good a defender than Al Jefferson.
All the guys listed above would be grade A stars in today’s game. They were all atheltic for their position and would be athletic in today’s game, except for McHale who would still be tall and long limbed compared to today’s PFs.

For_Never_EverParticipantWhile Chris Webber was still on the TNT show he compared himself to other PF and McHale was on the show as well. Webber stated he is 6’9.5 McHale is talking standing next to him he is clearly slighty shorter than Chris. I know how Legacy can beat out everything in todays game, like majority people here maybe might say Gary Payton would be the top PG in the game today if he was playing now.

For_Never_EverParticipantHow would you rank them and where if Al Jefferson and Shawn Marion were playing in the 80’s ?

This is how the kids on here are. Most were not even born when these guys were playing yet its much easier for them to neg than to give an opinion….
Also by not going along with the other sheep and saying Barnes, Drummond and P Jones will all be all-stars will also get you negged on here….

mosdefParticipantI always ask this question with my friends. How do you think Chris Mullin would do in todays game? He could shoot but was slow.

r377ParticipantMullin just like Larry Bird had the bball IQ and the know how to get the job done. They weren’t fast or athletic but knew the game and used their strengths. I believe each of them would of done just aswell in todays game… Both were good rebounders (for their size) and passers. Not too many guys shoot up around 90% FT these days either…
