mosdefParticipantI wouldnt say lock cuz they have Nene. When you are picking at 4 you cant pick a backup if the top 5 are just as talented. Plus, Harvard put out a thesis that PGs should team with a SG of same level instead of an interior player. I think Drummond in Washington is behind MKG, RObinson, Beal, and Barnes

ChewyParticipantis anything BUT a garuntee. Both Beal and MKG are great fits for them.

Lotto StudParticipantWhen John Wall became the #1 Overall selection to the Washington Wizards we all knew he would be destined for greatness, but as of lately he has been fading in the win column due to not having a great supporting cast. With Andre Drummond measuring in at a "legit" 6’11” 279, I believe that will be all the more reason to why the Wizards go after him because they lack that big physical prescence down low especially with JaVale Mcgee being traded and Andray Blatche sticking it out on the perimeter.
Does anyone else believe that Andre Drummond can turn John Wall’s career around before it goes down hill in Washington?
Is it also safe to say Drummond is a lock to the Wizards at #3?

WizardofOzParticipantIf he reaches his potential, yes, but that a big IF. Bu I’d probably still take him #3 over T-Rob, Beal, and MKG. T-Rob is probably better prospect wise than most of our bigs, and I’m all for BPA, but he’s just not a good fit nex to Nene. A T-Rob/Nene frontcourt would be a lay-up line for the other team. We need a shot-blocker next to Nene. In regards to Beal, I like him, and he fits the Wizards shooing need, bu I’m just not seeing that much star potential with him. I need to watch more of him, but does he have the handles and athleticism to break his man down off the dribble? Does he have the bulk and explosiveness to finish through contact in the lane? Most star SGs have those abilities.
Drummond is raw, but I think Nene would be the perfect tutor for him. If he went to any other team, he’d have a higher chance of being a bust. Drummond has the size and strength to become dominant in a few years.
All that being said, I’m not sold on anybody for the Wizards yet. But if anyone asked me who I think should be the pick today, it probably be Drummond, and Barnes next. This team needs a 2nd star next to Wall. They don’t need another good role player that can help them become an only solid team.

SpacegrassParticipantI don’t think Drummond will be available at 3 , I have feeling MJ snatches Drummond up because we know how MJ likes the biggest shiny object available. Plus no single player in this draft is going to turn the Bobcats around , take the greatest talent available and prepare for another top 4 pick again next year. Fixing the Bobcats is going to be a serious process and their best shot is through the draft and be patient while collecting high draft picks for the next 3 years.

WizardofOzParticipant^^You could be right, but a Drummond/Biyombo frontcourt would be a horrible fit. They’d better hope one of those guys develop touch. The spacing would be horrible and would turn the Bobcats into a jumpshooting team.

rhamnlacsonParticipantanyone of this guys in the draft could help the wizards organization not only drummond but alot of these guys who can go into a fast phase mode with wall could help them and drummond as we all knw is still a project being paired with a great pg not only wall could help his career and the frnachise that he is in

sheltwon3Participantwiz has Chris Singleton who is a 6’9 sf with good defensive skills. Unless they go with a shooter and scorer why would they take another small forward.

WizardofOzParticipant^^I’m definitely not on the MKG bandwagon, but Singleton isn’t good enough to validate passing on a player.

SpacegrassParticipantPerkins/Ibaka coexist as a productive frontcourt with both guys being defensively dominant. In time Drummond will develop into a decent offensive option due to his athleticism and size , hell look at Dwight Howard who is a 20+ppg guy who has literally 1 or 2 moves. Like I said they get a high pick again next year and take a guy like Shabazz Muhammad then they may have a shot at bringing in some FA veteran talent to place around those guys. Plus defense wins championships and if Biyombo and Drummond were to meet 75% of their potentials that would be an exceptional defensive post duo.
Another example of an excellent post duo that is predominately defensive is Gibson/Noah , yea I know Boozer starts with Noah , but the better frontcourt for the Bulls is Gibson/Noah. Boozer might be the most overpaid so called "star" in the league. No other guy gets more meaningless 20 and 10 games than Boozer.

WizardofOzParticipant^^Ibaka have always had soft touch since they’ve came into the league. Neither Drummond nor Biyombo have that right now.

SubZeroParticipantDrummond would be a great fit with Wall (especially on the fast break. So many oops…), but that’s a very big "if." Beal and Barnes to me are both great fits as well that are both pretty close to being sure things.

SpacegrassParticipantLets not act like Perkins or Ibaka are good shooters , Ibaka is 3 years in and he is okay. Just because he had the 11-11 game taking wide open 12-15 footers at home doesn’t mean he is a good jump shooter. You can have a different opinion , but lets not stretch it too far.

WizardofOzParticipant^^We’ll just agree to disagree then.

omphalosParticipantI agree with WizardofOz, having Nene there makes Drummond’s chances of success a lot better. He’d be able to come off the bench initially, learn his craft from a great mentor, and is versatile enough to play the 4 or 5 defensively, meaning he could easily form a rotation with Seraphin and Vesely down the line.
While I’d take Barnes over Drummond just because of fit, if Barnes is gone Drummond would be my immediate choice as a guy who can gel with Wall and be brought along slowly.

thparadoxParticipantTurn Wall’s career AROUND?
Since when did Wall need to turn his career around??????? Come on.
There is a good chance Drummond goes 2. Who cares if Biyombo is around. Best player available.

Lotto StudParticipantYes turn his career around. You are thinking about Wall’s play when I’m referring to him being on a losing team.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/10/2012 - 8:08am #679460

ChrisCrossParticipantWall is fine, the players around him that’s a different story.
Let put it this way, in Wall’s 1st 2 years he’s played on possibly the worst team in the NBA in those combined years. If you put Wall on the Jazz in place of Harris he’d be a lot better, or many other teams for that fact. Obviously Washington needs to get more players to not only make Wall better but their team, but Wall hasn’t been bad at all. Put any player on the Wizards and they get worse.
Still, Wall needs to improve his shot a whole lot, and cut down on his turnovers. I think people have to high of expectations for him right away to be like Rose, that’s just unfair. Trust me if Rose were drafted to a team as bad as Washington and not Chicago, he wouldn’t be as good.
