Afactor4Participant5,6,7 years ago I knew about all these guys and they were all heavily hyped in "year in advance" mockdrafts on this site. I know Ante Tomic, Maciej Lampe, and Schortsanitis are playing in rather high levels in Europe, but what happened to:
Martynas Andriuskevicius (I’m a draft nerd, no spellcheck)
Nemanja Aleksandrov
Artem Zabelin
Tim Ohlbrecht
Pavel Podkolzin
also, not quite European, but what happened to other hyped guys like CJ Giles, Sasha Kaun, Matias Nocedal, Vitor Tausch, and Juan Palacios.
Obviously I could try to find these people on Google, but sometimes the European websites are not completely updated, therefore I wanted to know if anyone had better info on these guys.

NihochuParticipantSasha Kaun got some injuries and didn’t really produce for CSKA except for rebounding and being a big body , i think Schortsanitis had some weight issues or something like that

seniokasParticipantI believe most people in Lithuania, who have interest in basketball, knew from the beggining that Andriuskevicius was nowhere ready to play in NBA. While he was very good player in youth competitions he didn’t get almost any time in Zalgiris, would he stayed for another year everything could have been much better.
But he made poor decision ( maybe there was bad influence from people around him although he certainly doesn’t look like an inteligent person ) and went drafted somewhere in second round, than went to d-league and ended up in conflict with teamate in which he got injured his head and while he came back, at the moment of injury there were many questions if he will ever come back.
So, he went back to europe, played in some subpar teams in greece and spain ( if I remember right ) and this season is without a club, don’t know what is he doing but I have no hope of him becoming a good player.

JunkYardDogParticipantAnte Tomic : played for real madrid but disappointing when you see he could do so muck more… a little bit soft and defensive issues… still buyout issue.
Maciej Lampe : played for caja laboral, VERY WELL. He develops his game (the same team where sseraphin played during the lockout) and became an effective force. Should get a look from an nba team, would be a nice back up.
Schortsanitis : always effective (with Tel Aviv now) and a force.
Martynas Andriuskevicius : played only 5 games for PAOK salonik (the team of N.Pappas)… less than 2 points /g. Stayed too long in the Dleague and never developped his game.
Nemanja Aleksandrov : played for Scavolini in Italy last year. Didn’t play this year. Has always been injury prone (no game in 2005/06).
Artem Zabelin : played garbage time for Kuban this year (and other russian team before). Still less than 100 kg… too weak. He plays as a center now (was supposed to be a 7.1 sf…).
Tim Ohlbrecht : played for Frankfurt this year as a rotation (16min). Still with the national team.
Sasha Kaun : played as a rotation for CSKA in a deeeeeeeeeep roster. Effective big man for europe.
Matias Nocedal : played 19 games (15min) for boca junior this year in argentina… after several years in spain (and 1 in italy).
Juan Palacios : played for Gran Canaria this year : a key member in a balanced team.

iguapops420ParticipantI had forgotten all about Olbrecht. I was very high on him a few years ago and fully expected him to become the player Ryan Anderson is developing into. SHame he didnt get it together.
Anyone know anything on Josh Heytvelt?

BrxaParticipantYeah, Aleksandrov tore his ACL when he was 19 or 20, missed a year and a half, and that stunted his development. After that he had a dissappointing stint with Olimpija Ljubljana, I am surprised he’s still playing. I thought he would have retired, like the former Phoenix Sun Zarko Cabarkapa.
Heytvelt played for a Croatian team last year in the Adriatic League.

European BallerParticipantAgain, players like Lampe, Tomic, and Schortsanitis are not "prospects". Please stop calling them that.

aamir543Participant^Hey EuroBaller, Kostas Papunikoulou is finally in the mock! In fact, he’s slated to go early-mid second round on this site.

He should be drafted. But it still shows how strange these mocks are. Because Greek players Manztaris and Pappas have been playing better than him and are not on the mocks.

McDunkinI remember the hype Nemanja Aleksandrov was getting when he was a young prospect he had some serious game but injuries killed his development.
Ever since I saw a player profile NBA TV did on him when they still had that Basketball International show I always hoped he would make it. They showed he had what had to be close to 10 or 12 family members living in a house tha was the size of an apartment.

pohani komaracParticipantI had chance to see few Aleksandrov games in ABA league playing as 18 year old kid against seniors before injury that destroyd his carer, including his best game against KK Zagreb when he droped somethin like 22-24 points. He was defently not just product of hype but also was big time talent. I don’t think he would be 1st pick since he lacked desire to dominate wich was his bigest downside, but his skills and athleticisam would make him for sure very good NBA player. Sad he dindn’t make it.
Andriuskevicius was only hype. Great abilitys, but no brain and mental toughnes to use them. Kind a like Zubcic today. Podkolozine was typcal as we say "scam" of his menagers.
Josh Heytvelt started this season in Zagreb, but they cut him from team when they finished euroleague season. Dosen’t bring much besides jackin 3s’. His who production is based on shoothing 3 pointers whenever he touches ball, and when he can’t hit them he is man less for his team
