How do you know? It really depends on their draft board. Maybe they will value Beal and MKG over Barnes + Lillard. I believe Beal would be great on that team and he won’t be there at the 6th pick, but they do have a lot of decisions to make.

The team needs point guard and a center. I don’t think the team will risk both picks to get Drummond at 2 when its possible for them to get him at 6 as of now.

really, would give up both of their picks for a wing? in such a wing deep draft?

mkg < barnes, lillard / marshall / zeller / leonard / henson / moultrie ETC

the only way it happens, is for drummond

Then again if the Blazers think they can address the position needs in free agency with the cap space they have then I won’t be surprise they would do it. Its a risk especially for a guy like Drummond but sometimes you gotta risk it all to win it all.

I think they could move up to grab Drummonds and I doubt Drummonds falls to 6.  If he fall past 4 I would be surprised.

Only way i see them trading both picks is if  Drummond really impresses during workouts meaning he want be there at 6 and they’re sold on him and John Flynn as there point guard going forward. Also i could see them maybe trading down from the 6th pick to aquiring Houston 14th and 16th and maybe a young player player or two if Drummond is there and they are not sold on him, plus Lillard is likely to still be on the board at pick 11 if not Marshall is.

And 3 lottery picks would really help the rebuilding process in such a deep draft where picks 6-15 the talent level is really the same with alot of guys with potential. They would still get their Pg and C and can add depth at either SF, PF or C postions.

If it were up to me, I’d get Terrence Ross with the 6th pick and Kendall Marshall with the 11th pick if hes there. Ross could be the guy who replaces Roy and who would be better to set him up than Kendall Marshall, if NO doesn’t get him. I could also see him givin some lobs to JJ Hickson too. And if you absolutely need a big man, you can always get Festus Ezeli in the 2nd or if you think he won’t last, make a trade for their next years pick for a teams late 1st round pick and select him with that. I might get zinged, but thats just me though. They’d be a lot better offensively if they do that. Of course with the 6th pick, thats if Drummond gets selected before 6.

There’s a chance the Blazers stay put, and they could snag Lillard, and Zeller, both which would be very good picks for them IMO.

They still have Jonny Flynn (not sure of his contract status though). They only have a years difference in their age. Lilard definitely reminds me of ex-Blazer Bayless. He didnt pan out well in Portland due to the coaching system but with Canales or another coach would work.

Honestly speaking, I’d take a risk of trading my 6 and 11 for Charlotte’s 2nd. Drummond would be a nice fit along LMA though as I said a few weeks ago, would hinder his development. But if I stand still, I’d pass on Beal and Lilard (Flynn/Felton with Beal at SG is a small back court) draft Jeremy Lamb or Ross with the 6th pick.

Lillard is not like Bayless because he can actually shoot, and shoot it from deep, also he is a pg while Bayless has always been a undersized sg. Don’t let Lillard scoring fool you, he is a very good passer and has a high basketball IQ plus he’s a good defender. If you think Flynn is the answer at pg then I have a flying dog I’m willing to sale you

This draft is very deep, I see no reason to give up those two picks for one.  Its too much parity.  woowoo has a good point about trading down, at 14 and 16 there will be some good PG choices for sure.

If they can get Drummond at 6, go for it, otherwise they’ve said they want a backcourt star, and didn’t specify which position, so I’d go with Beal or Jeremy Lamb at 6, and Meyers Leonard at 11, who’s got similar athletic attributes to Drummond (obviously on a smaller scale) and would be a nice fit next to Aldridge as a defensive player who will run in transition.

Beal is a team-first player who would gel with Aldridge, and Lamb’s laid back nature would make him the ideal second or third option behind Aldridge.

That said, I’d still trade with the Wizards to get Drummond, Portland is the perfect situation for him, low expectations and a frontcourt partner to carry the scoring burden while he develops.

theres no way that drummond is still available at the 6 and as badly as the blazers need a true c too compliment la imo its worth giving up the 6 and 11 too get drummond

if Drummond is who they want then do the trade, because he wont be there at 6.  I really dont see why he would be.  I think he is going to be a better player than Davis potentially.   If they did that trade, it would be good for them but really good for Washington, because if people are stupid enough to let Barnes fall to 6, then I would grab him and Ross.  Either way, there will be a quality guy at 6.

Johnny has never gotten a consistent shot since he got healthy and Minnesota was a terrible offensvie scheme for his style of play. Not saying he is, or isn’t, the answer; but he definitely deserves a chance. Point Guards with his athleticism are rare.
