This kid is an animal lost without a home. Great athlete who can fill it up and hit the tin. 4-star dude who could have gone to Michigan State or UCLA but chose to play for his dad at CMU.

    1 – Tray Woodall

    2 – Trey Ziegler

    3 – Lamar Patterson/JJ Moore

    4 – Talib Zanna/Dante Taylor

    5 – Steven Moore

Pitt was a borderline top 10 team going into last season. But they were a huge disappointment. That is a lot of talent right there. I think they could go to the Final Four for the first time under Coach Dixon this time around.

Remember, I’m the fella who called Louisville going to the Final Four last year (actually had them going all the way before the season started) and UConn winning it all the previous year. I also probably would have won this site’s pool if Kendall Marshall hadn’t gone down.

My track record is as smooth as Jennifer Lopez’s rump.

    Youre forgetting a huge piece…

    Steven Adams.

We are gonna be a vastly improved team next season.  Final Four should be attainable.

Isnt he transferring because his dad got fired? If anything his dad was probabaly happy he left the school.

Gotta love Dale Worthington’s subtle hype up of his own prognosticating resume. Thats the best way to earn respect around here, and hes doing it in a big way.

I do agree that Pitt should be solid next year though. I dont see Final 4 type talent, but stranger things have happened, but someting about Coach Dixons style just hasnt worked in the dance. I think they will be in the mix for a top seed in the Big East Tournament (after Louisville, there seems to be a dip)

Yeah his dad got firestorm CMU. That’s the only reason why he got an instant transfer.

I dont agree with Zeigler getting a waiver because even though he only played for CMU to be with his dad, there have been 100’s of players who transferred after the coach who recruited them got fired without getting a waiver. Those players only played at their respective schools because of a relationship with the coach and they all had to sit out one year. But Zeigler gets a waiver because his relationship was stronger? I dont get it

Zeigler is a poor man’s version of James Harden IMO. He and Steven Adams are going to be a terrific 1-2 punch once they gel and get a feel for each other’s games.

"someting about Coach Dixons style just hasnt worked in the dance."

Is it that, or is it the fact that top recruits are extremely hard to get to come to the city of Pittsburgh where basketball is not as alive?  I am amazed at how few people show up at courts in the burgh.  I think part of it stems from the lack of an NBA team or real college dominance.  The whether sucks too and its a pretty gloomy city most of the time.  Real blue-collar.

Given a choice, more often than not 5-star recruits tend to go to more prestigious or asthecially pleasing universities.  Dixon also is really into playing players with more seniority and experience.  With exception to players like DeJuan Blair and others from surrounding areas, PITT rarely brings in top talent.

I get that Pitt doesnt get alot of big time recruits, which makes the coaching job that Dixon does that more impressive, but in the tournament, Pitt has not been very good, or as good as their usual seeding would warrant. Dixon is a good coach, but for some reason, his teams dont have a great deal of success in the NCAA tournament.

Come tourney time, you need those "special" college superstar equivalent players.  The Kemba Walkers.  The Anthony Davis(s).  The Carmelo Anthonys.

We had a rough version of that in Blair and consequently that is the closest we’ve gotten to the FF in a while.

Yeah, Pitt has racked up plenty of 1 and 2 seeds over the last handful of seasons.

They haven’t performed well in the Tournament mainly due to a lack of athleticism.
