Do you trade Jefferson or Millsap away to give more playing time for Favors? They also got Kanter who got potential.

Yes they should really try to, I was thinking that the Jazz should trade Millsap to Philly for Young. Young could start at SF and they should offer up some money to Dragic. Jefferson Favors Young Hayward Dragic with Harris Burks and Kanter.

Which one of them would you trade though? I’d definitely keep Jefferson because of his developed post game and ability to be a go to scoring option. I think Favors goes along with him really well so I’d opt to keep him as well, due to his ability to protect the rim and really young age.

Then the choice comes down to Kanter or Millsap. Millsap is obviously the better player right now, but Kanter has shown flashes of being pretty dominant with his physical play. I’d keep him because it’s really useful to have a physical big coming off the bench when your starters are in foul trouble. Besides that, Millsap also has the highest trade value, considering his near all star level stats this season.

Honestly, I’d trade Jefferson, simply because he’s still a bit of a black hole offensively, and he has the highest trade value. If they can get a starting calibre PG by trading Jefferson, they should pull the trigger. Kanter can fill the void in the low block, and even if they have a down year, more minutes will give Kanter an opportunity to reward them in the long-term. Also, Paul can play on the court with Favors or Kanter, which gives them more flexibility with lineups, whereas Kanter and Jefferson wouldn’t be a great fit on the court at the same time.

Off the top of my head, I’d look into trading for Darren Collison or George Hill from Indiana, and maybe ask for one of their young guys to boot. Jefferson gives them a legitimate low-post scorer, who has at least 3 years of youth on West. Collison has fallen out of favour in Indiana, because Hill has played so well, but he’d still be a great addition to a team starting Harris. Obviously other players would have to be involved, but that’s just a situation I can see being mutually beneficial.

Jefferson for Lowry still makes most sense to me, assuming Houston can re-sign Dragic.

The problem is that there simply is not very much value out there that seems available for Milsap or Jefferson.  The Thad Young for Sap suggestion would never happen.  Both are young guys with similar size and salary.  The difference is that Sap is better than Young at everything.  I repeat: Everything.   Young would give Utah nothing new.

Iggy seems like a great fit because he’s a very good wing defender.  However, Iggy is substantially less productive than Sap overall (even on D), and his contract is $5M more for what is probably a less valuable player.  Collison is a lot like Harris.  He’s good, but probably shouldn’t be a starter on a contending NBA team.  Hill has shown flashes, but that’s it.  2 apg in 25 minutes of play is not going to cut it.  Even higher profile trade options that seem viable (Granger) make no sense for Utah.  He brings skills Utah could use, but he’s a liability at times too.  He’s a volume shooter connecting on less than 42% of his attempts this year, while getting paid the same as Jefferson ($4M more than Sap).

Obviously, there are plenty of players with far more value than Sap/Al.  Unfortunately, none of them are available–certainly not for Sap/Al.  Unless something good comes alone, I think the Jazz should keep what they have, move Sap to the 6th man (but playing starter minutes) and find a way to pick up Dragic and 2 wings through FA (1 pure shooter, 1 D specialist).

how about trading millsap for calderon then the raps draft kendall or damian. or AL for calderon and kleiza or jj. but the second one doesnt make sense since they will have jonas and will develop davis. fck it, just get dragic and another wing

Sorry don’t want Millsap as Toronto has no need for him, especially given he’s an undersized PF.  No doubt skill wise I would trade Calderon str8 up for Sap but based on need that trade doesn’t make much sense.

Does anybody think Millsap could make the fulltime move to SF? He played well as a 3 against the Spurs.

He could but Hayward is really a 3 playing out of position they need to get a 2 guard and maybe a point or combo guard to either start over Harris or backup.

I would love to have Milsap in Toronto. He would be an upgrade at the 4, and enable us to move Bargnani finally. As much of a steady hand Calderon has had facilitating, he’s not our long term answer, so we need to move forward thinking who is going to help out 3 years from now.

Hayward and Burks are both 2s.  Favors works with any of the other bigs. Kanter works with Millisap, but not Jefferson.  I dislike Jefferson with Millisap, but it isn’t terrible.  I say move Al for a 1 or 3, let Burks and Hayward battle for the starters minutes at the 2, and then run a 3-big rotation of Kanter, Favors and Millisap, with Paul getting some time at the 3.  I’d still strongly argue that a 1 through trade is the highest priority and Lowry seems to be the best 1 on the market via trade. I’d strongly advice Utah to NOT sign anyone too expensive, as young guys like Favors could command a huge price on the open market so maintaining financial flexibility is a must.

     agree with pulzeglaze…

but I’d try to get dragic as a FA instead of lowry… I think the 3 men rotation inside (kanter favors millsap) is great and you could get some good player at 3 against al jefferson (iguodala, josh smith …?). I love burks and hayward… they just need some time to develop and they are very complementary.

They should have throw their games away late in their season to save their picks…. With their own pick they should have pick up kendall marshall.. and with the golden state if they were able to pick that pick.. they could have choosen terrence ross to play sf…im not really sold with hayward this season…if it was me.. i would trade him for doron lamb…even he is undersize at SG but boy he knows how to play within a system….with burk, ross & lamb their rotation of SG & SF is settled..Well with marshall in the mix u know what u be getting out of him..that is to run plays and feed favors with alley hoops or easy dunks below the basket which is what he is doing with henson in UNC….they should also move a big man out of town to which ever team gives the best offer…and get a legit size center…

hayward was bad on those PO, but he was very good this year. He vastly improved in his skills and understanding of the game. I was particulary happy to see him becoming a real playmaker playing as a point forward at times and showing some very good passing skills.

I love the way him and burks are complementary…. with him Burks could surprise lots of people next year… (with more playing time). He’s a scorer and with a real SERIOUS pg next to him he could be a really dangerous threat.

I really love the young players utah has been able to bring and develop over the last years.

IMO. One of them will be traded at next years trade deadline, they’re contracts will be expiring and they will be able to get a lot back

honestly, i’d explore how much the celtics were close in trading rondo and ask for him offering Al Jefferson. sure rondo is younger by a year, but the celtics are entering rebuilding stage with no guarantee that KG, Ray Allen or Jeff Green will be resigning. at least this way, they can secure having an offensive post option while their perimeter comming from paul pierce. bradley and bass will probably be starter role players, which leaves one spot open in the starting unit they can address in free agency or if they get a polished rookie ala leonard, via draft where they have two first rounders.

"Do you trade Jefferson or Millsap away to give more playing time for Favors? They also got Kanter who got potential."

A playoff team who happens to be one of the youngest teams in the league is not going to take a step back to get even younger. They made the playoffs because of the talent and depth of their frontcourt. Favors and Kanter aren’t going anywhere, but they also aren’t ready to carry that utterly mediocre team to the playoffs like Jefferson and Millsap did. It makes zero sense to give away that advantage.
