Which pick did your favorite team get right that you hated, and vice versa?

ha I hated drafting Rubio and trading for Kevin Love. Good thing I am not the GM.

 I thought Portland got a great pick with Jarred Bayless, turns out not so much. I also thought Batum wasn’t a good pick but it was.

I thought Utah made a HUGE mistake drafting Deron Williams over Chris Paul. Turned out to a pretty good pick.

Really loved the Jazz getting Dee Brown in the second round a year later, but he was off the team after his rookie season.

I was so butthurt when Seattle picked Saer Sene, I couldnt believe it, they literally got nothing out of him. That was probably a top 5 worst pick in NBA history.. he managed just 47 career NBA games

on the other hand, I knew the Soops made a phenomenal choice by getting russ westbrook, that guy was an explosive and potential-filled COMBO guard coming out ucla that i felt could help out right away

I thought it was genius when the Bucks traded Dirk Nowitzki (who?) and Pat Garrity to the Mavs for Robert Tractor Traylor.  That one did not work out so much for the Bucks.  A German playing b-ball in Milwaukee, should have been a no brainer, in hindsight.

 I liked the Hakim Warrick pick. Dude was a beast in college and thought he would’ve been like Amare Stoudemire (#32 Stoudemire not the current #1 Stoudemire), I also Liked the Tyrus Thomas pick. I thoguht he was going to be swatting shots and dunking over everyones head. I also liked the Gerald Green Pick because I thought he could be the next T-Mac. And Last but not least I liked the Jerryd Bayless pick. Thought he was going to be an instant impact player like Derrick Rose. One more thing, the Ed Davis pick. Dude was a low post beast for North Carolina and helped them win the championship. Low post players usually do good in the NBA and I thought he would do better than what he is doing. The people that actually proved me wrong was Ricky Rubio. I thought that guy wasn’t going to pan out in the NBA after observing his stats overseas and watching his stats decrease each season. The other one was Kevin Love. I thought O.J. Mayo was going to be better and like Jerryd Bayless become an instant impact player while Love would be a role player at best. Wrong lol. Also Avery Bradley. I wa ssecretly a fan of his coming out of high school after watching him and Findlay Prep beat Oak Hill on ESPN, a few years back. After he got drafted I thought he was a poor man’s John Wall. I kind’ve gave up on him after he showed no signs of improvement on the Celtics but MAN DID HE BLOW UP this year. I felt stupid for giving up on him.

I thought drafting Bynum was a waste of a lottery pick, and he is coming into his own

I thought that Von Wafer could have spelled Bryant for years to come become a scoering punch off the bench

the major disappointment was Javaris Crittenton, thought he would be the running the point as the big PG that Phil Jackson loved after his rookie year.  Man what a waste. 

 Absolutely hated Brandon Jennings.  Still don’t necesarily love him, but a great pick for where they were drafting.

DJ Strawberry was going to be to the Suns what Shannon Brown was for the Lakers during their title days

I was bumbed when the Jazz picked him.  I had my sights set on Greg Monroe, who was picked a few picks ahead.  I had Luke Babbit and Ed Davis rated ahead of Hayward too.  Looking back Eric Bledsoe and/or Paul George may have been slightly better picks, but Hayward has become a very good player.

For my Bucks i thought Larry Sanders would be a steal and he hasnt done much yet.

I also thought Joe Alexander would be a beast, hasnt happened. He was so dominant in college and hes dissapeared off the face of the earth.

I also thought Kareem Abdul-Jabbar would be a bust when we picked him, thought he was too skinny. And look how that turned out.

At my tv when the Kings traded away their pick, only  to find out Brandon Knight fell right the spot we traded out of. Oh but it didn’t end there, I turned the tv off when we picked up Jimmer. You would think it was the worst day of my life. Sadly, I’m also a St. Louis Rams fan. If you know football…

The year that comes to mind for me was the 2004 draft I was really hoping the Bulls would take Livingston and Iggy. I played against Shaun a couple times growing up as well as seeing Iggy play in high school I really thought both were going to be great and hated the idea of Ben Gordon and Deng. In retrospec both picks were washes in my mind. The one that I was completly wrong about was Noah I wanted to cry when I heard his name called I was sure he was going to be a flop. Also one to revisit in a few years is the Jimmy Butler pick I was really hoping they would take Tyler Honeycutt or Bertans and stash him away for a few years.  

 I didn’t like the Avery Bradley pick for the Celtics.  I completely underestimated how ridiculously good he would be as a defender and overlooked his ability to attack the rim.  Boy, was I wrong.

 I was mad on trade day when we traded Marbury for Ray Allen.  I learned quickly after we had made the right choice.  However it didn’t matter when we traded Ray to Seattle for the Glove and Cowboy.  What a bad trade.

Yes you were Shumpert is more complete, Brooks will score a lot of points but I doubt he ever plays for a winner 

None. I was right about Marvin Williams being the wrong pick.

 I hated when the Bulls traded LaMarcus Aldridge for Tyrus Thomas.  I watch Aldridge a lot in college, and knew he was going to be a special player.  I didn’t think Thomas would be as bad as he turned out, but I knew he wouldn’t end up better than Aldridge.

I’m an LAL fan and we rarely ever keep our picks, and when we do, it’s a no brainer like Bynum or a second rounder like Ebanks.

The last time I remember being surprised by a pick was Devean George who was taken one spot higher than AK-47 who I expected to be the pick. He was never the player AK was, but he was still a decent get who helped win a couple more rings. I guess I should have wished better for Gino instead of either.

The last time I knew a pick was piss poor , 2 seperate drafts come to mind. First was trading up for Kareem Rush instead of Tayshaun Prince who the entire staff had raved about with his point forward abilities, or Carlos Boozer who was a terrific college player being slept on. LAL was in need of youth at either position and either player could have potential halped garner AT LEAST the 4th championship. Hell, at least Prince wouldnt have been on Detroit defending Bean in 04.

My other draft was the year later in 03 when LAL finally decided to address their aging frontcourt by drafting Brian Cook( non athletic jumpshooter who is allergic to rebounds) and Luke Walton (heady team player who had a couple of good years) instead of Josh Howard and LEandro Barbosa who Ron Harper had scouted several times and told LAL he was EXACTLY the player they needed. He ultimately went first round, but several other good players(who still play) went behind these two such as Kyle Korver, Mo Williams, Steve Blake, James Jones, and even Matt Bonner.
