llperezwas watching inside the nba on tnt the other night after thursdays games and they posted the predictions made on december 25th(the first day of the season) for all 16 playoff teams. SHaq nailed it, kenny smith got 12 of 16 right but looked silly for saying the bobcats were gonna get in. Barkley refused to predict saying it was stupid to guess before the season started.
Anyways, props to shaq, thats impressive. Oh yeah, and shout out to bill "im a laker hater" simmons who was saying from the begining of the season all the way up to the half way point that the lakers would miss the playoffs.

DuncanRulesParticipantBill Simmons is biased against the Lakers, but his bias for Boston is several times more severe. Congratulations to Shaq, that is not an easy task.

llperezsimmons at least admits he hates the lakers before he bashes them. I can respect that, but he has an attitude that his word is god when hes wrong as much as anyone. Heck i still remember he had an enitre rant about how any GM that would draft paul george over xavier henry should be fired immediately and used that as an example of why he would make a better gm then half the ones in the league. I mean he was adamant about how much better henry was then geaorge and damn near dedicated an entire article to it. He also gauranteed on numerous occasions ron artest would cost the lakers a chance to repeat after they first signed him and that any laker fan who didnt realize this was in denial. Of course he didnt say a word when ron was the best player on the court during game 7 of the finals vs his celtics,

llperezbarkley is the funniest, but i dont know who the smartest is. Webber and reggie miller are two of my favorites.

llperezi enjoy readin bill simmons as well. I click on a lot of his articles and hes very entertaining. I just dont like his smug attitude about how he thinks hes so much smarter then any other writer when he isnt.

aamir543ParticipantI like reading Bill Simmons, I enjoy reading his articles, you ahve to disregard everything he says about the Celts or Lakers because he’s extremely biased, and somtimes he comes off as a lunatic, but I love his NBA collums, and I don’t know why everyone hates Shaq as a TNT analyst, I like him, he might mumble, but I agree with a lot of what he says.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantSince Shaq has been doing commentating,he’s shown a wide variety of knowledge about the game..He’s impressed me with how much he knows and he’s given alot of inside tidbits about the things that fans never hear about that goes on behind the scenes….Now i see how he separated himself from big guys like Darryl Dawkins who arent fundamentally sound like Tim Duncan, but still knew how to play the game…And will become a future Hall Of Famer..

DipoTimeParticipantI’m surprised you don’t like Simmons’ attitude since Kobe is the exact same way lol

rhbispParticipant15 of the 16 were concensus picks of almost everyone. Some people may have taken the Bucks or Nets, but the only team that was supposed to make it and fell short were the Blazers. They started off well and then decided to tank when things didn’t go well. Still, I didn’t see Utah doing this well considering how poorly they played in the second half of last year, so good pick Shaq.
BTW, getting predictions right or wrong doesn’t really mean much(except that Bobcats pick; I remember telling my cousin before the season started that they had the worst roster I’d ever seen). Everybody’s wrong frequently and unforeseeable things happen all the time. That’s why we like sports; we’d all be millionaires if we were correct even 70% of the time and hit the sportsbooks. The world’s smartest basketball minds are probably the people who set betting lines. Shaq might get 12 out of 16 next year, but that doesn’t matter. He’s paid to have strong opinions and no one would care, watch, or listen if an analyst had weak takes.

dede21I would of only got 12 right but most of those were bad beats due to injuries and trades, Bucks, Nets, Warriors, and Blazers

bloodshyParticipantI hated Shaq as an analyst early on, but he’s been growing on me.
And mad props for nailing 16 of 16! Not many people have done that.

TyroberParticipantReally nice that he predicted it correctly, but how many other people could have? You know the Cavs, Bobcats, Raptors, Nets, Pistons, and Wizards in the east would be pretty bad so you really just picking Sixers or Bucks to miss playoffs and know one of them will make it along with Bulls, HEAT, Magic, Pacers, Knicks, Hawks, Celtics. West isn’t that much harder either if you think about it. Clippers, Lakers, Spurs, Thunder, Grizzlies, Nuggets, Mavericks all seem like locks to make it and at the beginning of the season it would really be between the Jazz, Rockets, and Blazers imo for the last spot.

ProudGrandpaParticipantHe did? Dang. Well, at least we can still hate on Kenny "The Jet"
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/28/2012 - 4:41pm #665166
dede21Tyro what are you talking about easy to say bs like that now, some though San Antonio or Boston would miss the playoffs. Almost nobody had Utah in, Portland was seen as a lock pretty much, Nets were definitely a contender if they stayed healthy. If Varejeao did not get hurt Cleveland probably would of made it. if Chinese kid does not come out of nowhere Milwaukee would of made. If not for injuries Minny was looking good to make it and you don’t even have them mentioned. Nuggets were a lock when half their team went to play in China? lol
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/28/2012 - 5:28pm #665191
dede21Even then where did you have Utah probably not even top 12? I would says less than one in 100 people if not a lot more would get all 16 teams right.
Although it is not all skill though Portland was the right pick and the Knicks were a bad pick regardless of the results, you cannot know who is going to get hurt and who is going to get signed out of China and traded beforehand you just go with the teams at the time.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantdede, most of the playoff teams were expected to make it. I got 15 of 16 teams right, only missing out on Utah (I had Portland with the 6th seed). It was a pretty predictable season for the most part.

The QParticipantYou mean that fixed game 7 where Artest should’ve been thrown out for trying to start a fight with Paul Pierce and it was an embarrassment that was somehow a double technical?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/28/2012 - 5:51pm #665197

llperez@the Q, Just be happy the lakers were missing 2 key starters in 08 when the celtics got one
0- Posted on: Sun, 04/29/2012 - 3:57am #665298
The QParticipantOk, the lakers were missing bynum in 08.
The C’s had a one legged KG and no Perkins.
I’d say the C’s got the worse of that one. Without banging into that Utah player’s knee, the C’s easily 3 peat.
Hell, they legitimately beat the lakers in 2010, but the purple and gold stripes took it away in that embarrasing 4th quarter. There’s some great youtube videos out there showing not one of those calls was right.

dede21It is because Kemba was from NYC like him that he made that homer pick and Jordan went to UNC etc.

marcusfizer21Participantwait did Kenny The Jet predicted the Bobcats would make the playoffs??? How stupid can that guy be? When you got Corey Maggette touted as your go-to guy, your team’s got a problem..lol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 04/29/2012 - 6:17am #665314

CynthiaParticipantI really like them all, they all have different comedic values. Shaq is just a jokester/prankster, Kenny is more of a straight-faced serious joker, a lot of times I don’t think he even realizes he said something funny. Barkley is funny because he’s always awkward and says random things. He’s more the type you laugh at than laugh with. I really like Ernie as well, he’s kind of in the mold of Kenny though, more of the serious-joker. Best show ever!!!!!
