bloodshyParticipantKobe’s a smart, bitter guy. I don’t like him (never been a big fan of rapists), but he’s a very skilled and very intelligent player.
IMO Kobe made this statement to get under KD’s skin. Kobe just lost the scoring title that he desperately wanted to KD and he knows he’ll be facing KD in round 2. He’s just trying to toy w/KD psychologically with the hope that it will throw KD off of his game a bit. At least that’s my take.

DurantsWingspanI don’t see how you think Kobe is trying to get under KD’s skin. I hate Kobe, one of my least favorite in the league, but how can you say he was trying to get under KD’s skin? KD is my favorite player in the league and I would have had the same answers as Kobe to those questions. It is well known that LeBron is the best in the league especially to play alongside a gunner like Kobe. I think you’re trying to make bball drama out of nothing.

For_Never_EverParticipantI understand any NBA player wanting Lebron to be a teammate because he is a passer and can defend anyone. However my opinion Kevin Durant is the Best. Koby only said lebron is the Best because he knows he has the edge over him.

DurantsWingspanKD is my favorite player but he is not the best in the league. LeBron James is sooo versatile. I mean cmon man hes my favorite player and even i know he isnt the best. I hate when people can’t judge basketball without being biased.

llperezkobe says lebron is the best player in the leauge and then kinda criticizes lebron for being beta and not wanting to rub people the wrong way with by taking bad shots. How do you figure kevin durant was on kobe’s mind and motivated those comments? Kobe has long said lebron is the best player in the game next to him.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 3:27pm #664785

bloodshyParticipantMe too. LBJ would be my number one pick too. But think it through. Making a statement like this, when most people consider the top two players to be LBJ and KD, is almost as much of a dig at KD as it is a compliment to LBJ. When you add to that formula that (1) Kobe’s intellectual mentor is Phil Jackson (notorious for mind games), (2) these types of statements are typically avoided by diplomatic players, (3) Kobe last the scoring title less than 24 hours ago and a lot of people have been pointing out KD’s career scoring projections and forgetting about Kobe since then, and (4) Kobe is playing KD in round 2 unless one of their teams chokes and to me I think it’s more than just a random Kobe opinion.
I may be overthinking this, but I think this is a well thought out piece of psychological gamesmanship by Kobe to improve his chances and make a dig at the guy that just took away his scoring title.

For_Never_EverParticipantKnowing what I know now about both players I would draft Kevin Durant. A similar question that has been asked is MJ or Magic. I would take MJ over Magic.

HaleParticipantI’d take LeBron over anyone without a doubt. He does everything better then Durant except shoot. People always seem to forget that.

jeff416ParticipantIn terms of stats, Durant and Lebron are pretty much equal in everything except for assists. I think that it is a little stupid to say he does everything better than Durant than just shoot. He is a better passer, ball handler, and a slightly better defender. Durant is a better scorer and shooter. He also doesn’t dominate the ball anywhere near the amount that Lebron does. Lebron is a better overall player, but it’s not a huge gap like some seem to think.

Jean_31ParticipantHey guys you are all wrong…. it is Jr smith the best player in the leaague everyone know that
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 4:21pm #664805

iguapops420ParticipantI sincerely doubt losing the scoring title had anything to do with this. Had Kobe wanted it, it would have been his as he would have been playing alongside the entire 2nd unit and a few IR players being able to take literally every shot, but he didn’t value it. Second, Kobe may have learned under PJ, but playing mind games has never really been someithng he does. He’s mostly been a brash, straight-forward person with his feelings and comments. Personally, I just think he was following his comments that he has made several times before that LBJ is the next best thing to him in the NBA, but won’t be able to pass him until he learns to be the Alpha male on the court game in and game out.

mookieParticipantJust read comments about Kobe being a rapist. Get off it already. if he raped that girl why’d she settle for money. And how’s he trying to get under anyone’s skin? People wanna spread hate everywhere and distort the truth. Kobe messed up but he is NOT a rapist
Jones a better ballet than both lebron and kd. Hate em or love em his skills offensively and defensively are better than both of them. His style is the closest to MJ and everyone knows MJ was the greatest ever. as far as athleticism, lebron is a better athlete but not a better ballet than Kobe.

LeBron does do everything better then Durant other then shoot. He’s an infinitely better playmaker/passer, far better ball handler, and a far better (not slightly) defender. LeBron is one of the top 2-3 wing defenders in the NBA, Durant isn’t close to that. LeBron can score just as well as Durant can, evidence being he averages 0.9 points less then Durant. If LeBron shot as much as Durant he’d average .2 more points, without adjusting for FT’s. So at worst, they’re equals scoring wise. Which leads us to what I said early: Durant is only better at shooting.

0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 4:43pm #664811

NbanflguyParticipantLebron is the best player in the league. Really is not that close

For_Never_EverParticipantIf Mia doesn’t win the Champoinship is Lebron still the best ?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 5:23pm #664822

sheltwon3ParticipantWow it is funny how people will twist Kobe’s word to hate him. That was the best way to answer that question because there is a Lebron is better than Kobe argument so Kobe said that Lebron was the best player not including himself. He complimented Lebron without giving up the title as the best.

HaleParticipantYes.

mookieParticipantspell check corrected it without me proofreading…its supposed to say Kobes not Jones
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 6:36pm #664845

bloodshyParticipantLOL. Because… it’s money? I know it sounds crazy, but people that get raped need money too. Additionally, her life would have been in tatters after a trial like that. The primary reason I think Kobe did it is not because I’m a hater. I think he did it because he pretty much said he did it.
Kobe Bryant statement (3 Sept 2004): "I now understand how she feels that she did not consent to this encounter."
For those who don’t get how rape works… if either party doesn’t consent, it is rape–everytime–even if one party mistakenly believes the other party consented. Kobe released that statement only after charges were dropped and she had settled for a fat stack of cash.
–
I know going negative on Kobe is taboo around here, but I say it as I see it. Maybe I’m wrong, but when I read that statement, it looks like Kobe admitting that the girl did not consent to have sex with him. If that’s true, it was rape.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 6:43pm #664850

mookieParticipantKobe was forced to say that as part of his plea. If he raped her why did she have money shots from other dudes???? She was a skank…kobe settled just like almost everyone in his shoes woulda done…settle rather than take your chance with a potentially biased jersey. If this forum isn’t proof enough, there’s plenty of Kobe haters out there.

patty-millsWhich one of you is gay fish?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 7:01pm #664856

For_Never_EverParticipantI just see it as Kobe is rich famous not a bad looking guy, can sleep with almost anyone he wants. Does he really need to rape anyone that doesn’t want to sleep with him or wouldn’t he move along to a girl that is down ?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 7:04pm #664857
patty-millsI bet youve slept with him you slut.

KayjayParticipantLebron so hated that when Kobe praises him people hate Kobe too? Lol wow….
0 - Posted on: Fri, 04/27/2012 - 7:14pm #664859

llperezI highly doubt kobe raped her. He was forced into saying what he said becasue of the plae deal. My common sense meter just doesnt add up to him raping her. She was sleeping around, she had been to mental hospitals prior to the kobe thing for attempted suicide and was seeking attention, she went back to his room, the first person she saw after leaving his room and having been "raped" was a lady working the front desk and she simply waved and smiled and said good night to her leaving the front desk lady with no impression she was distraught. Kobe doesnt need to be forcibly raping girls and none of it adds up to her being more beleiveable then kobe in this situation.
Its all he said she said, but my common sense meter says young troubled girl vs famous athlete, odds are she was used the situation to get attention and money.

DuncanRulesParticipantI feel confident in saying that LeBron James is indeed the best basketball player in the world. I find it hard to argue otherwise.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/28/2012 - 2:09am #664884
DurantsWingspanAs much as we’re all sure that Kobe can have sex with any girl that he wants, to play Devil’s Advocate, it wouldn’t suprise me that he wouldn’t know how to handle it if some girl didn’t want to because of his ego.
With that said, 99% chance this girl faked it and I’m a Kobe hater.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/28/2012 - 6:41am #664910

IndianaBasketballParticipantGo to the ESPN boards with that rape bs. Rape is serious, but this girl clearly had issues. She had another man’s pubic hairs in her underwear after claiming she was raped by Kobe. A history of mental problems.
Kobe may have been stupid for settling for this chick and this is what happens when you do stupid sh*t, but I highly doubt Kobe had to rape this chick. She was all over his nuts immediately and knew what she was doing. A skeezer turning down Kobe??? Really?

LeBron is in his prime right now and Durant is far from his… How good will Durant be in his prime? I don’t think he has a ceiling… LeBron will NEVER be the shooter Durant is, but I think Durant can become just as good as a defender and rebounder. I don’t think Durant will ever be the point forward LeBron is, but I think his passing and ball handling will get a lot better.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/28/2012 - 10:35am #664967

DuncanRulesParticipantI don’t think Durant will be able to match LeBron’s defensive prowess at any point in his career. Durant is longer, but he will always lack the athleticism and strength LeBron James possesses. Durant may pass LeBron in time, however, it will likely be once LeBron’s ability is deteriorating. This is no knock on Durant, as I already consider him the #2 player in the NBA as well as a future Hall of Famer. Once LeBron retires many will understand how underappreciated he truly is.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/02/2012 - 2:51pm #666741

iguapops420ParticipantLBJ is actually a bit heavy footed laterally. He uses his strength and length to defend. Durant may actually end up with better fundamentals and is the longer player. PErsonally, I could easily see him being the kind of guy who canh defend 1-4 at somke point in his career simply off of length. At the very least, he’ll be able to be the type of defender who can take a match-up and and make a player work offensively if for only one series or one big stretch, or even one big play. He proved to give Kobe trouble. Not to mention, he’s already a better all-around 1v 1 player than LBJ is. I seriously sometimes question what kind of player LBJ will be at 33 when his athleticism is no longer top notch.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 05/02/2012 - 5:15pm #666788

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantKobe and the girl hooked it, it happens all the time. Just so happens, he’s Kobe and the girl wasn’t happy with a simple "hook-up", she wanted money. What does she do? Sue Kobe and say he raped her. Kobe and that girl both know it wasn’t rape, they both know it was a one-night stand but she knew who he was and knew about his money and fame. They later settled because Kobe wanted to stop the madness and all she really wanted was money, not to see Kobe incarcerated.
