1. Tyshawn Taylor – (31-40) Of all these guys, Taylor has the most upside, he’s 6’3” with a reported 6’7” wingpsan and fantastic speed and athletic ability.  His decision making is suspect, but even when he was turning the ball over he stayed on the court because of his excellent perimeter defense.  He’s a bit of a risk, but the 2nd round is perfect for risk taking.  Comparison : C.J. Watson

2. Scott Machado – (38-45) Machado is a pure point and many of these guys are not.  He brings up questions about ahtletic ability, but he’s a smart player, takes good shots and he’s definately a guy capable of getting other guys involved.  Comparison: Marcus Williams

3. Tu Holloway – (45-55) Holloway is a gamer, and I like that.  I’m willing to overlook at the fact he’s a chucker because he can make big shots, play the passing lanes, and in the 40-50 range i’m most likely drafting him to do just that in 5 or 6 mpg when I’m resting my starter. Comparison: A.J. Price

4. Dee Bost – (55-60) Bost brings a lot of the same things to the table that Holloway does, but I feel his shot selection is worse and he’s not as much of a leader.  I’m choosing him over Wayans and Taylor because of he’s taller and a better athlete. Comparison: Ish Smith

5. Maalik Wayans – I would not draft 

6. Jordan Taylor – I would not draft 

Combo Guards-

1. Marcus Denmon – (50-60) Denmon is a guy with range, capable of making shots, and playing good defense.  For a combo guard, he has pretty good shot seletion, and doesn’t force things.  He edges out Brown for #1 because of his defense and size, I can see him being a 3 point specialist at the next level.  Comparison: Gary Neal

2. J’Covan Brown – (55-60) Brown is a guy who can flat out fill up a stat sheet, but I wonder how effective he’ll be in the NBA.  He’s a chubby 6’1” and although his speed is good for college, it won’t be as impressive in the pros.  I still have him on my draft board because he’s fearless and I watched him score 30 points in a half in college, lol. Comparison: No Clue

3. Jared Cunningham – I would not draft 

4. Darius Johnson-Odom – I would not draft

 There has been a drought in PG depth in recent years. I don’t see any of those guys making an impact in the league anytime soon

 I can give you the most in depth analysis of Tyshawn Taylor as anyone on this site, including what makes him suck.  I’ve seen him play 100 times over 4 years. You wanna hear the bad?

Tyshawn Taylor is a very in-attentive ball handler who lets his ego get the best of him.  He often tries to go shot for shot against an opposing point guard who is heating up, often to the detriment of his team.  Taylor, in addition, tries to use his speed even when he it’s not working.  He pushes the ball even when it is not necessary, when he thinks he can get a layup at the other end.

This isn’t the case of a scrub I’m hyping up.  This is the case of a guy who would have been picked in the first round if the draft was directly after his U19 team performance after his freshman year.  This is a guy who may flame out, but he’s a perfect guy to reach for with a non-guaranteed contract in the 2nd round.  He’s got his bad too, but who cares if your 35th pick doesn’t pan out, but if he has immense talent with a couple problems, and he pans out you look very good.
