Andrew1984ParticipantPoor Nets. They tried to be aggressive and it totally backfired:
– Traded for Deron Williams in hopes of pairing him with Dwight Howard, but never got a trade done (it’s possible that it could happen next year, but doubtful)
– They will probably lose Williams, who I think is going to sign with Dallas. He’s from there, Kidd is 38, Roddy B. is not what they’d hoped, and the Mavs with D-Will could take a run at Dwight.
– They tried to Sign Nene but failed at that too.
– As far as talent, they’ll be left with nothing but Brook Lopez and MarShon Brooks. They’ll be in desperate need of a PG, but they don’t have a draft pick until the late 50s. They’ll end up starting Jordan Farmar there, a massive downgrade from D-Will.
– Look for the Nets to be the worst team in basketball in 2012-2013, unless $30 million is too much for D-Will to pass up.

Mikhail Prokhorov isn’t going to lose to Mark Cuban without a fight. Literally.
Speaking in front of the Barclays Center construction site on Tuesday – his first media appearance since cancelling the Carmelo Anthony trade negotiations last January – Prokhorov issued a playful warning to Cuban for chasing Deron Williams in free agency.
“Let the best man win,” Prokhorov said. “If he wins, I will crush him with the kickboxing throwdown.”
Although Prokhorov made the comment in jest, he’s taking the issue of retaining Williams seriously. The Russian oligarch said he met with Williams on Monday, drawing a conclusion that “we’re on the same page.” Prokhorov stopped short of saying he’s confident Williams will re-sign, however.
“We have I think we have a very good discussion,” Prokhorov said. “He really wants to win. And I want to win maybe even more. Really I don’t want to go into details. But really I think at this stage, we are on the same page.”
The Nets can offer Williams an extra year and about $30 million more than the Mavericks. But returning to Dallas – Williams’ hometown — is an attractive option, with Cuban acting as the catalyst.

I really hope the Sixers can make a Trade similar to that one involving Andre Iguadola, if Wallace commended a Top 10 Pick than Iggy should be worth a top 5 Pick IMO…
The Nets tried to pull the same move Miami and New York just pulled, trying to steal Stars from other markets can work but only if You belong to a Bigger Market…NJ/Brooklyn is doomed to become a very mediocre Franchise after this seaon…NO Stars + No Draft picks = NBA Purgatory…

TallmanNYCParticipantSee Linsanity. See what happens when you win in New York. The Brooklyn Nets will be tapping into that market and the money and coverage that comes with it. They may be terrible initially and it doesn’t look like they are going to get any big free agent wins right away. But they will get the players as long as their management is halfway decent.
